i was just in jordan with a amazing taxi driver for a few days and he told me the whole history of jordan and the region. the people of jordan and the iraqis there want america OUT. its quite clear. america is not liked in jordan for doing what they did.

what they also do not like is that america is letting isreal take lands from people who have lived there for much longer than the new moved in jews. he told us that isreal is moving in people from africa to colonize new settlements, and that is wrong. the original people, the palestineans were a mix of jews and muslims and they lived happily together, this new incoming group of people that has made isreal is a racist people and everyone surrounding isreal hates that.

so we should have someone fix this problem in the future.

they also dont like the british lieing to the leaders of the current countries in the arab world. basically they are all puppets to the west and that is what they hate. they want the power and control for their own destinies without western influences. the people want that. i suppose it will only come when we have moved on from oil. or have drained all of theirs and left them under water when the water rises again. most of the region is very flat , dubai, uae, saudi arabia, the gulf area. dangerous for them as it is for us.

A staff member contacted him two days ago and said that she had forwarded our request to the appropriate person and that she hoped we got our wish.

I'm assuming that if he is going to be contacted, he will be contacted tomorrow. But regardless of whether he gets the call/confirmation or not, he will have Josie take her gifts anyway.

That poll misrepresents what Senator Obama actually said. Mr. Dobbs truly has become Howard Beal (after the break-down)-- it is becoming a bit more pitiful by the day. I hope his family and friends intercede with him before he reaches a critical point (and possibly suffers an on-air break-down). Mr. Dobbs is spreading hate far and wide and yet, I don't think he even realizes this; it is pitifully tragic. Once upon a time, Mr. Dobbs was a real news man; but, that time is long since past.

Katie Couric interviews Sen. Obama and then runs a tape of a sattelite interview with Sen. McCain on the issue of the nouns, verbs, and surges. After her very unsuccessful attempt to get Sen. Obama to say the surge has been successful, she then runs a list of the numbers of casualities etc. before and after the surge. Of course the numbers have gone down. I suspect like most of her unqualified colleagues she purposely left out some important facts about that list, because she didn't get her 5 minutes of fame i.e. the "Couric gets Obama to admit surged worked" headline. However there were important facts Mz Couric forgot to list...

1. al Sadir has been paid millions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to stand down. In other words we paid protection money to enemy combatants. Wow, just wow!

2. The Iraqi Parliament and al Maliki (sp) follow poll numbers like American politians and know that WE are NO LONGER interested in footing the bill for George Bush, Dick Cheney, and John McCain "Pottery Barn" war. So the Iraqi leadership have at least moved slightly on the military front in trying to get a handle on the sectarian violence.

3. Obvious our fatiqued combat troops were able to catch a breather with the additional battalions, subsequently out-numbered the insurgents. However we cannot sustain this kind of surge financial or in troops size much longer. Which is why McCain should have pushed his BFF (George Bush) the diplomatic efforts. I mean since it's about winning the war and not a political issue for him. RME

I just emailed Mz. Couric, explaining to her that if she enjoys being #3 in the ratings then she has nothing to worry about with the kind of garbage reporting she turned in today.

He was brilliant of course. She was grimacing because he wouldn't take the bait. I realize many in the Press are irritated with Sen. Obama because he is thoughtful and doesn't get tripped up. President Bush and Sen. McCain made them think that they were geniuses, because they are prone to gaffes. The Press never took a moment to consider the source. So now they are frustrated because Sen. Obama is sharp and cool under fire, it's showing them up for the incompetents that they always were. hehehehe

Sure watch his interview and then turn it off.

As I have stated many times before, Katie Couric is one of many on my no watch list. She has not been positive on Michelle or Barack so I am not surprised. Out of 200 requests for interviews for this trip, I am really curious why the campaign would grant Terry Moran and Katie Couric interviews. I don't watch Brian Williams either so I do not know if there is any bias there. I quit all those shows during the primaries and will not watch until they figure out that Barack WILL be our president, like it or not. I hope we will have a link to this interview, so that I have some facts to write another email to complain.

On the Sky interview, the guy who was for McCain accused Obama of saying the surge woudn't work, then of taking that down from the Obama website and now being for the surge.

I'm matched in a debate with him Saturday again - longer this time.

Actually the number of Army casualties increased during the 18 months of the surge from Jan 07 to Jul 08 (both wounded and KIA) then the prior 18 months before the surge.

The Sunni Awakening is a major driving force behind the reduced casualties in Iraq -- and that Awakening happened independently of our troop escalation (labeled a "surge" by our President and Senator McCain) in Iraq. ey guys, family and friends, i was just watching Lou Dobbs,...i know i know but really he was talking about a new video on John McCain's website trying to make fun of the way the media is in love with Obama. i watched it, it is great just made me love him more....oh that McCain, he just keeps getting it wrong. but check it out. i loved it even though it was bad sound and editing.
but the truth be told i think McCain should be happy with the coverage Obama is getting, it takes the heat off of him, his gaffes, the fact that he wont release his Military records, his rejection of woman's rights, gay rights, the McCain Bill making it almost impossible for families to get info about POWs, the USS Forrestal 7/29/67 (make a contribution will ya) and my God the list just goes on. why is McCain complaining? is it because he thought the media was "HIS base"...go figure, cant win for loosing.

I think it is an outrage for McCain to keep stating that if we leave Iraq we are defeated. What message does that give all the troops that will finally be coming home? Are they non-patriotic? Are they losers? Are they dysfunctional? Were they derelick in their duties? Did they not follow orders? Making this a victory/defeat issue greatly insults and tarnishes all our troops.

i'm concerned because most of the polling comes from one outfit: Rassmussen

Rassmussen is a good poller, but if their voter model is off, then most of the polls we get will be off

he tends to find that bush's approval is HIGHER than every other outfit (leading me to believe that he oversamples GOP)

None of the pollsters have a valid Likely Voter model this year. So all of the polls - all of them - are of very little use.

Why is this? America is in crisis, and so many more people are going to vote this year than usual. Additionally, Obama's 50 State Strategy is furiously registering millions of UNPOLLED new voters.

You're crazy if you pay much attention to the polls this year. All of those pollsters are using LV models that are hideously out of date and bear no resemblance to the realities of 2008.

This interview really pissed me off. Of course, Obama was calm and well-spoken as usual, but Katie Courac interviewed with a chip on her shoulder. I understand that candidates have to be asked tough questions, but it should be done respectfully.

As usual, it is great to see Obama respond with such tact and brilliance. I can tell that he is speaking his mind rather than spewing out pre-rehearsed talking points like someone who shall remain nameless.

Hi folks! Well I never have much to donate but my hubbie complains about all of my modest donations. Ya see, we discuss all minor purchases due to our tight finances. This past weekend we discussed him purchasing Civilization (a computer game) which would cost $30 per my hubbie. Well today, I saw a $40 purchase for this product which, IMBO, affords me a $10 donation.

So here is the trivia question:

My oil company sent me a letter today to tell me my anticipated heating oil costs this winter. In addition, they informed me that I would need to pay $150 to guarentee this rate and they could not guarentee the oil pending a disaster. If you can guess the anticipated monthly cost of my heating oil, I will send you $10.

To give you a hint, this will be close to 1.5x my biweekly paycheck.

I realize many in the Press are irritated with Sen. Obama because he is thoughtful and doesn't get tripped up. President Bush and Sen. McCain made them think that they were geniuses, because they are prone to gaffes. The Press never took a moment to consider the source. So now they are frustrated because Sen. There is nothing scientific about these "network" polls; each station has one asking you to vote on whatever issue they want to use agianst BO as "proof" of the Americans' choice.

They can and do manipulate the results to show what they want it to. Looking back at the primaries we all voted crazily and watched the numbers continue to go down in favor of the opposing candidate!

AOL is another poll I don't waste my time voting on, same thing with them.

Things are getting bad here in CT...someone sprayed graffiti on my fence. I used to live in a "safe" community. I'm trying to decide if I should hang an Obama sign over the graffiti.

Even though the campaign is well under way, John McCain remains a mystery to America. Unlike Obama, who has staked out his positions on important issues in writing in his Blueprint for Change, McCain has yet to tell us what his views all the important issues are.

I urge journalists and all Americans to start asking him questions so that we can learn about his views. Here are a few questions we could ask McCain to get the ball rolling:

1. Why is Social Security a "disgrace"? Is he going to privatize Social Security?
2. Where does he stand on choice?
3. Does he think health insurance should cover birth control pills?
4. What are his plans for healthcare?
5. Why has he so often voted against veterans' benefits?

6. What is the definition of pork? Is pork in the eye of the beholder? Hasn't he [McCain] benefitted from what many others would have called pork?
7. Are all earmarks created equal? Give an example of a good earmark. (Or are there none?)

8. How much burden should big industry bear in helping to slow climate change?
9. If additional offshore drilling would provide no economic relief to American consumers why is he proposing it as a solution to high gas prices?

10. Under what circumstances as president would he declare war on Iran? What domestic concerns would he take into consideration before he made that decision? Does he think our economy could sustain another war? How does he propose manning that fight?
11. Would he ever institute a draft? If he did, does he think it would be honored?
12. What would constitute a victory in Iraq? In Afghanistan? How long does he forsee our involvement there? If the situation proceeds as he'd like, how long? How many soldiers would be deployed in active duty and for how long? How much would that cost?
13. How will we pay for this? What will the American people have to sacrifice to pay for these wars?
14. If the surge worked, why can't the troops come home? If the troops need to stay in Iraq, then how could the surge have worked?
15. If the troops need to stay in Iraq for the surge to keep working, then wasn't the surge really a permanent escalation of force?

King Abdullah personally drove Senator Obama to the airport-- I could be mistaken, but I haven't ever heard, or read of King Abdullah doing that previously. King Abdullah would very much like to implement sweeping reforms in his Country-- but needs stability in the region first. Perhaps this is a sign that Senator Obama also gave the King of Jordan hope on that front.

Stability and peace in the Middle East would be a wonderful thing (obviously)-- I hope I live to see that day. On a purely personal note, if that day comes (and our economy improves!), I would certainly like to travel to Jordan and see those impressive ruins with my own eyes.

"This is a clear choice that the American people have. I had the courage and the judgment to say I would rather lose a

Questioning Obama's patriotism is UNACCEPTABLE. Where is the attention on this from the media since McCain isn't getting enough coverage. Blast the MSM losers asking for them to cover this disgrace.

Well said, Lace...I would put it like this...

We lost the "War on Terror" when we created more terrorists with our actions, than we destroyed.

And we lost the war in Iraq when we let things over there turn into a situation where the Iraqis actually had it better under Saddam. The looting that broke out immediately over there was the first sign that we were loosing the war. The sectarian violence showed us that we were continuing to loose it. The final straw was the high numbers of people in Iraq who had to flee their homes. And it is that number, which shows how these two wars are now linked...
By going into Iraq, we created more people who could be swayed by Al Quada into joining them. The only person who can grab any kind of "victory" from the jaws of defeat that we now face...is someone who can admit...at least to themself if not publicly...that we lost the initial stages of these wars...

The oil slurping and the nation building are not new. I suppose the idea that China is helping has to do with borrowed money. Currently China holds about 500 billion in US securities out of a total debt of 9.5 Trillion. Japan holds about 600 billion.

So China has 5.25% of our total debt. Foreign countries in total hold about 25% of the total debt. So while China is clearly significant and growing it is not the biggest nor are foreign countries the biggest source of loans (so far).

I will do exactly that. HQ has to pounce on this crap. Watch - we won't see it on Morning Joe, CNN, Race for the White House, Headline News or any of those channels. It's time for HQ to take control of this stuff because McCain is WRONG for the Republicans, WRONG for Americans and just WRONG for the world. TOTALLY UNELECTABLE. Didn't he have a gaffe yesterday as well. The Republicans are probably trying to find a way to get rid of him because he just keeps on doing it. Race and religion has been a HUGE part of the news cycle as it pertains to Senator Obama - it's time to talk about AGE which is fair game. Is he too old to be POTUS. Don't mean to rain on anybody's parade, but BO has ppl watching and keeping up with everything going on back here. Just because he's not blasting JM back right now is because, unlike our prez, BO is observing the politally correct and standard rules of protocol which say that you don't go to another country and make attacks on a fellow american, especially an elected official.

JM knows this which is why he waited until BO left to level his most viscious attacks! He knows BO is too smart to take the bait while overseas.

Let's not bury HQ in letters about this; believe me they know about it. Look at the surrogates BO had out today: Kerry, Wes C., Chris Kofinis, etc. who argued these attacks for him.

I jsut think HQ has enough to do.

Well said, John...you should add what I keep hammering away at, too. I keep pointing out that, with all the "displaced" Iraqis...the rate of violence would have to fall. If Shia and Sunni don't live in the same neighborhood...they cannot kill each other, anymore. The U.S. and Iraqi government have already let 5-6 million people(that number includes those Iraqis who have fled their homes and those killed) be "ethnically cleansed". How much more "ethnic cleansing" could actually be left to be done in that country?

I decided Lou Dobbs is an idiot and that I should never listen to him when he said that it didn't matter at all what the people of overseas thought of this election, and that it shouldn't matter who they want to win. I would never vote for someone just because an Arab in an Arab country like them, or a Brit like them, or a Frenchman like them. But, I would like to know that the person I help elect to the Whitehouse is the kind that inspires foreigners to want to help my country. Lou Dobbs is an airhead.

I knowwwwwwwww I just watched the full interview and she really looked pissed when he PUT HER IN HER PLACE about the SURGE---that she asked like FIVE TIMES because she was not satisfied that he outsmarted her and put her in a corner, while she resorted to to a disrespectful tone. When he diplomatically told her STOP ASKING ME THE SAME QUESTION...she finally did---LOADS of "gotcha" comments that backfired to her own ineptitude.

I'm responding to the FISA issue and Sen. Obama's legal adviser Sunsteen (sp) who apparently told "The Nation" that Sen. Obama would only seek legal action against the most egregious crimes committed by government officials. Of course "egregious" needs to be defined, but at any rate Jonathan Turley, constitutional law scholar is up in arms and sees that comment as the beginning of armageddon.

Turley looks like a well fed, affluent high brow who obviously isn't having any of the economic woes we are having. His commentry may be accurat and he is knowledgeable, but another purist who is focused only on FISA, IMO.

But, before I go...something to think about. And it has to do with energy policy. Why is geothermal so under-utilized in this country? Yellowstone National Park is nothing short of a giant underground volcano. Think of the geysers there, people. Can anyone imagine how much heat that place must have, bottled up...just waiting for someone to take advantage of? So...the questions are...
Can we utilize that energy in an enviromentally safe manner?
If "Yes"...why aren't we at this point in time?
If "no"...why not?

McCain and so called pundits wants to listen either surge worked or it did not.

If he says it did, then McCain would claim victory that his judgment prevail and Obama was wrong. He does not understand a country of millions of people involved in ethnic/sectarian violence can not be controlled by 30,000 people unless they resolve those differences by themselves.

If Senator Obama says it did not work, then they will say how Obama can be a commander in chielf when he does not recognize the dedication and sacrifice of our troops.

So both McCain and MSM are getting frustrated as Obama suggest that our troops performed brilliantly as always but there were other reasons as well and the goal of bringing political solution in Iraq has not been achieved.
Journalism has become equivalent to tabloid and everyone is looking to twist truth and advance their own career by giving folks false choices to choose one and then criticize them either way. To be fair though, when stupid people like Hannity makes $100M for all those low class rants that passes in the name of news, it's a reinforcement for others to become like Hannity.

The McCain camp is so furious at the press coverage Barack Obama is getting as he visits Iraq that they are practically bursting a blood vessel. Now, they are actually suggesting that Barack is "disrespecting" General Petraeus just because Barack has said that he will not only listen to Petraeus but also make decisions based on his concerns beyond Iraq.

Duh! Barack Obama understands Petraeus' concerns about risks but must also think of the escalating threat of Al Quaeda in Afghanistan! Barack Obama has said this all along - even General Petraeus mentioned that there was intelligence suggesting the escalation. And Petraeus is not the President and would still be subordinate to the President. What about the problems along the Pakistani border also?

The McCain campaign started by demanding that Barack go to Iraq. Now he is there and making such a strong impact that they are practically fuming and seething with anger and frustration. Did you know that a world leader actually flew to Iraq to seek time with Barack Obama and then personally drove Barack to the airport in his own car? THE WORLD IS SO DESPERATELY LOOKING TO US FOR GUIDANCE AND REAL LEADERSHIP WHICH IS WHAT THEY ALL SEE IN BARACK OBAMA. I don't think they see the whole picture..
Of course when you oppose something from the start but it is enacted anyway, you kinda have to throw out statements about, BUT you opposed it before?, have you changed your mind?, do you think it worked or not? POINT BLANK we never should have been in that position to need to have a SURGE to say hey something worked, because it did not, it failed in the beginning and several points along the way. It was the American people and the newly elected Dem's that forced a new strategy, WHO can truly say they came up with that after a think tank session!!

I turned on Keith O tonight @ 10PM and I see his breaking news about McCain and his version of the surge.

Can someone please explain to me what does CBS news have to do with it. Also, I did not watch Ms. Couric's interview with Sen. Obama. How did he do? Did she try to act hardcore, like she had an axe to grind?

Katie Couric was really nasty in her interview to Obama. She tried to get him to admit about 5 times that he was wrong about the surge, but he handled it well. She started every question with a chip on her shoulder, but again he was charming and persuasive in his postitions.
McCain did a rebuttal and got the chronology of the surge wrong. Apparently CBS edited out his mistake in the aired version of the interview, but it showed up on line and KO got a hold of the real version.
BTW I called CBS to complain about this and the guy who answered was not that nice and hung up on me after saying they were trying to figure out what happened.

I live in Poznan, PL, just about 250km from Berlin and I'm considering going there on Tursday. But I don't know any schedule of the visit, e.g. time of his speech for the people. Does anyone of You have an idea where I can find such an information?

I was scrolling through one of the threads from earlier tonight, just to see if someone had replied to any of my posts or replies after I had left the site. And as I looked closer at some of the posts on that thread...I read one that aggravated the hell out of me. I don't remember exactly what they disagreed with Senator Obama on...but after they put their opinion, they wrote something like this..."Now, I know that most of you don't agree with me; so I think that my post will probably be erased...". People...let's not be stupid, here. Anyone who has spent any time on these blogs realizes that, if their post is respectful in any dissent offered...it will be left up. If you don't realize that; then you have either not been around on this site for very long or are f---ing stupid.
If you have a dissenting opinion, offer it freely. If you agree with the Obama team on something or merely want to offer them your support, state it strongly. And if you want to catch up with people on the blogs here or just shoot the sh--, then do that. But, please; PLEASE, don't utter stupid phrases like..."my post will probably be deleted because I know that most of you don't agree with it". That is, unless your post is genuinely offensive. Then it will be taken down, as it should be. But, this is not like the blogs of those other candidates where dissent is whitewashed. Unlike McCainiacs or certain other candidates of the Democratic Primary...we actually want to hear from you...even if you disagree.

I watched Barack in Jordan. The guy is simply electrifying. He has the grace and simplicity of presence to calm frayed nerves in the world. Thank you so much for sharing the trip to the Middle East. You have shown the world that cooperation and understanding between countries has a place today. Even though we are thousands of miles away from some of these countries and this maybe the closest some of us will ever come to seeing these other lands, it is such an inspiration to see three of our finest senators from the United States communicating and interacting with the world's leaders.
