In the months and years ahead, we're going to accomplish amazing things together. No president has ever had the support of such a powerful grassroots movement, and Barack and Joe will need you to continue fighting alongside them.
But before we take the next step, we need to get our house in order.
The Democratic National Committee poured all of its resources into building our successful 50-state field program. And they played a crucial role in helping Barack win in unlikely states like North Carolina and Indiana. We even picked up an electoral vote in Nebraska.
The DNC took on considerable debt to make this happen.
Will you make a donation of $30 or more now to help the DNC pay for these efforts? You'll get a 2008 Victory T-shirt.
The DNC began building a 50-state organization in 2005.
The infrastructure they put in place over the last four years opened up a new batch of battleground states where a Democratic nominee hadn't been competitive for a generation.
In the final few months, the DNC went above and beyond to expand our ground efforts and ensure victory.
We couldn't have won this election without their support.
As we start laying the groundwork for real change, we need to help the DNC recover the resources it took to win.
Please make a donation today and get your 2008 Victory T-shirt.
This movement for change is just getting started, and we look forward to working with you to bring the change this country needs.
Thanks for everything you did to elect Barack and Joe,
Obama for America

First I wish to the millions of congratulations to President-elect Obama and V.P.elect Biden. I want to also say congratulations to the millions of people who donated and voted and MADE this change. Now I wish to hold both elected official's feet to the fire. I undeerstand that there is a set establishment in Washington, but after all the "Change" we have been listening to, at all of meetings, in the press, on the news etc. I, personally am still waiting for. So far the appointed staff looks more like the Clinton administration than change. I am saying that I have been watching closely, I will continue to watch and speak out for the change that was promised.

After all, Barack needs to have people of top flight quality in his staff and those who understand the workings of Washington.
New comers won't be able to affect the type of change that Barack wants to bring to Washington and let's remember that Barack sets the agenda as POTUS and his staff and cabinet will follow his lead.
They will of course offer their input but the final decisions will fall on the shoulders of Barack and I trust him to do what's right for America. We won't always agree with his actions or think he's acting fast enough but he has an entire country and many problems that he must take into account when making any decision and so he must first act in the country's best interest.
Change does not come easy or quickly. Time and understanding are needed at this time and moving forward. We trusted him throughout his campaign and it's incumbent on us to once again trust that he has our nation's best interest in mind as he leads and governs.

He does have to be careful and not bring too many Clinton's Administration into his office. I think that would be a mistake!
I pray that he makes the right choices and decisions.

It's ok to disagree Debbie, but I do have a question for you.
What exactly was wrong with the Clinton administration that has you concerned?
Was it the rising economy or the all time high of job creations? Or maybe it was the world standing we had before this current administration? Or maybe the fact that the middle class earnings were heading north instead of taking the plunge we have witness these past 8 years?
What exactly should we be afraid of? More of those things? Isn't that what we are trying to have happen once again?
When my brother loses his job after 30 years in the same company and my son has been trying to find work for the last 5 months without so much as one interview because of the outrageous number of applications every business out there has to wade trough I believe that having the experience in correcting these very problems is not a handicap but a good thing.
Change can come with people like Joe Biden (who has been in Washington longer than most), Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod and whoever Barack chooses in the coming days and weeks. Why do I believe this?
It's simple...Because he is the one who will run the agenda. He is the one who will set it and ask for opinions of how to get them implemented.
How has his choices been thus far? How has his judgment raised questions for you about his ability to lead? Is he not the President elect after two of the most highly fought campaigns in modern history, over Hillary Clinton and John McCain with every distorted truth that could be made against him made. He still is the President Elect.
After so many here questioning him and worrying about his decisions not being right and a risk.
Those who want to question his every move as if he is somehow new to this, have to sit back and let him be who he is and run this the way he sees as best for his administration and that of the country.
So many worked hard for him, trusted him enough to go that extra mile for him. Hope and change are not as easily made without compromise. He will do what's right for moving this country forward. Of that I have no doubt.

Obama's supporters aren't very bright, are they? Clinton's good economy was built on a credit/debt bubble - the one that is currently creating our depression. Change? HA!HA! - Rahm Emmanuel is the biggest pro-war Democrat in the House. He was a supporter of Bush's Iraq war. Rahm would not give any money to anti-war Democrat Congressional candidates who ran in 2006. Obama promised a middle-class tax cut, right? He's already backing away from that promise because of the economy. Remember, Clinton promised the same thing in 1992. Never materialized. It's not fun to be a sucker, but that's what you all are....

you guys...you are forgetting...Axelrod was a Clinton person too...it is the person AT THE TOP who sets the tone for the administration just like for the campaign. You heard the advisors say that they wanted Barack to have more attacks, more zingers, more 'politics' in his campaign but he refused to come out and change his character. Economically, the Clinton years certainly changed our budget/balance sheet. It wasn't all bad...much good. So, have faith. Hasn't even been a week. This is a person who will build a working coalition and he has a vision I believe in...not about to second guess him! you should be encouraged by stem cell executive order, closing Guantanamo that looks like he's already working on it... these are a hint at promises kept.

Our energies now is to continue to send those prayers of support that things will be done right for the betterment of all, there have been time when we think decisions are the wrong, turns out to be in divine order, keep those prayers in the direction of positivity, flip those scripts of negativity. That is the law of the universe. Pass it forward with our prayers and support behind Barack decisions he is going to make WE THE PEOPLE proud again and again. That is the way of it.

Actually, he can put in his office whoever he wants, and in the cabinet whoever the Senate approves of, and there will still be change.
And there is one thing that we should keep in mind (especially those of the Christian faith): people, too, can change, especially if they have a leader who inspires them. (I vaguely remember the Christian New Testament has some stories of that kind.)
We have no reason to assume that Axelrod and Emanuel act in the same way they did under the Clinton administration. (Note also that neither of them was involved in any Clinton scandals.)
Axelrod, for one, has shown in the campaign that he used his strength of organization in such a way that they strengthened Obama's policies, rather than change them.

Everyone here complaining about PRESIDENT OBAMA,
needs to roll their sleeves up and get to work.
Go to
www.senate.gov and www.house.gov
and see what legislation is pending. Read over
them to see exactly what congress is getting
us into; see what they're planning to sign into law.
Or go to www.fcc.gov and read up on the regulations. We need to hold Limbaugh, Hannity,
and the like accountable for responsible,
truthful, ethical reporting.
So PRESIDENT OBAMA has a lot on his plate, but we have work to do too !

There were some very good people in the Clinton administration and I have no problem with them being in government, but there has to be new people too.
I don't want him to pick the worse people from the Clinton administration. I would not be happy if he picked Larry Summers for Treasury who supported deregulation of the financial sector. I like Robert Reich and Joseph Stiglitz. (Krugman would be great)
As for Rahm he did have influence over Bill clinton he was the one who pushed for NAFTA and cutting welfare - this increases poverty. America has the worse welfare programme in the developed world. He clearly puts his personal views first and not what is good for the people just the bankers he worked for. No doubt he will be influencing Obama too - but I am willing to wait and see what happens. I don't want him to change Obama into Clinton I like Obama the way he is.
Those people need to made accountable it is there policies that have consequences. People loose their jobs, homes and end up living in poverty.
You will never accomplish change if you allow someone who is a washington lobbyist to operate like that - they will keep the status quo and the only people who have money and keep the system going will be allowed in.
I hope Obama has an open and ethical government. I want to know how decisions (show me the evidence) are being made and who is attached to lobbyists.
After many years of Bush there is alot of mistrust in government only with more openess will this be restored.
So many people came out to vote if there is not change in Washington people will be disillusioned forever. That just cannot happen.

We're all so very happy about the election of President Obama. Now we need to know what to do, and how to work with the thousands of new volunteers that came from the campaign efforts. We don't want to loose these people. We are looking for ideas to organize everyone now that the election is over. Do you have ideas? How do we keep them involved? What kind of events should we offer? Where should we put our efforts? Is it possible to get a modified version of "Camp Obama" that trains these new activists about how to utilize their new skills?
Any input and information is greatly appreciated!

Nov 10th 2008 at 7:17 pm EST (Updated Nov 10th 2008 at 7:17 pm EST)
What Next?
There is a task at hand while we await President-elect Barack Obama to take his position as the leader of the free world. One very important aspect of this journey to the White House has been the reminder that “we are our brothers’ keeper”. A positive energy has been released into the universe. Our country is engaged and the world is optimistic again. We have a window of opportunity to get it right after eight long years of regressive mistakes…so let’s not blow it.
Every one of us needs to start to prepare our families, friends and neighbors for what we will need to do in the near future; to not only visualize but to experience the dream. We can help make President Obama, Joe Biden and our country a success. We can make Obama a better leader by being ready to let him lead. The minds of Americans need to be primed to accept the task that lie ahead. We need to start to think as a community and get organized.
This can be achieved in part by taking in a few easy steps. First and foremost we must re-establish respect of self and others embrace our similarities and difference it is after all what makes us unique. Let us begin take an active role in your home communities so that it will be easier to make the transition to what will be needed after January 20th. We can tap into the enthusiasm of the youth to re-engage them in education and remind them of their potential. They are our future and worth the investment. Working with our seniors is always a plus as well. They are our foundation and we can learn from their experiences to give a better view of what is needed for the future. Sharing your time and talents to benefit others is always a plus.
Any efforts that release us from our shells and allow us to spread our wings, to go beyond our complacent boundaries can only work for the betterment of us all. I am hopeful because working with all of you during this process has given me reason to once again expand my dreams and trust in a broader sense of being. I am confident that we will accomplish great things together. We must answer the call. Our time really is now. Yes we can, we must.

Government bailouts for the super rich...!
These are the SAME CLOWNS who had their California "spa" treatment holiday paid for by taxpayers, and then the "fox hunting" trip in England after that!
All this largesse was sponsored and paid for under the direction of Bush Administration, his Sec. of the Treasury, Paulsen, and rest of those foxes-in-charge of the hen-house!
Democrats did go along, under threat that if they didn't, the entire economy was going to collapse!
But don't let the Republicans forget that THEY asked for the BAILOUT package...
Under a Republican Administration's request, the
U.S.A. Government has bailed out, and is now buying-into banks, and this monster-sized American Insurance Group company.
Recall, Republicans are against SOCIALISM ???
Isn't that what McCain/Palin ranted against???
They accused Barack Obama of being a SOCIALIST !!!
But this type of SOCIALISM is what Republicans appear to enjoy...
"Free Enterprise" for their profits.
SOCIALISM for their losses.

Sorry, I like Pelosi. I think she's doing a heck of a job, trying to do her best for the American people.
I'm sure government isn't easy. Clearly this government will rule from the central - hopefully center left. If more progressives run for, and win elections, then it would be more possible to shift the center of gravity to the left - until then, we may have to shut up and put up.
Look at the Blair government (1997 - 2007) in the UK after the discredited Conservative government got the boot. We may find a precedent there in how the Democrats will government this term.

Word on the street in Nevada is that Reid told Lieberman he will be relieved of any major committee chair and given something small. The fear in this state is that Jon Porter, Republican Congressman who was defeated last Tuesday by Dina Titus, will run against Reid for that Senate seat and possibly win. Both are from southern Nevada, both are Mormon, but Porter is conservative. I'm not thrilled with Reid by any stretch of the imagination, but I just worked really hard to get rid of Porter and I don't want to see him in the Senate in 2 years.

Wade, we could add more progressive issues such as a single-payer healthcare system, equal pay for equal work for women and even the elimination of poverty.
Unfortunately, if the American people wanted all the above, they would have probably voted Kucincth. Facts are, Obama and the Democrats probably don't have a mandate for the above. This is not the change they were elected to bring in.
Clearly, Obama's campaign promises are the best we can expect or hope from this administration. There is no point in raising peoples' hopes beyond that. That is the change we elected. If we want anything more progressive, we need to get involved, deepen the movement and vote more progressive officials into the next congress.
Personally, I'm just glad to see the back of Bush and all Bush-likes. That's the change I voted for and will soon be enjoying.

I don't think it has to be that grim with regards to health care. HR 676: National Health Insurance Act, has been introduced in the House by John Conyers and Kucinich for 3 sessions now. Although this may not be what Obama proposed, it is a start for working together. Conyers never expected that HR 676 is the only bill but is willing to work with the Administration I am sure, since he is one of the mentors of Obama. If Obama wants to change the US Health Care system, I am hopeful that he will again consult Conyers and work together, rather than reinvent the wheel. Enough proposals are on the table and with a strong economics team he can begin a universal health care approach that may be able to utilize some (not most) of the HR676 proposed goals and objectives. Change also means that we have to think differently than before during the change of Administrations. There is nothing for us to compare this to so all we can do is wait and see and be patient. Many of the issues inherited by the new Administration were created over a long period of time and nothing will change overnight but together we can certainly encourage continued and consistent change and encourage continued dialogue about what is necessary. Our advocacy will play a large role, not just with the Administration but within the Congress.
We can change by identifying our leadership role (the same way we identified our role in the election as we are still involved through this dialogue) rather than just considering who needs to be removed. Our leadership will be much more significant when we become the true change agents and then those who need to be removed will ultimately have no place in the new change process.

Now that we've won, the big question is what's next.
There are people focused on retribution, and want to prosecute all those that opposed Obama, or that have somehow wronged us personally. Like castrating Lieberman, or impeaching Bush/Cheney during the transition, or stuffing Fox news into a black hole.
There is a certain satisfaction in dreaming that it is is possible now...
But if we return an eye for an eye, are we not continuing the cycle of violence and persecution?
Someone has to be the first to forgive, and we are the ones that had campaigned on electing adults to lead the country, so let us set the example, and show grace by forgiving Lieberman, Bush, Fox news.
Yet there is a dilemma to forgive so easily, because forgiveness that leaves the culprits unpunished may send a signal to others that they may be profligate without suffering unduly, also. Those that did harm may not have learned their lesson. Lieberman, Bush, Cheney, Fox news.
I would like to see some kind of tough love response to Lieberman who spread hate against Obama during the campaign, and I would like to see tough love on Bush for lying about the reasons for going to War in Iraq, and I would like Fox news to be renamed the Fox tabloid entertainment channel and lose their press credentials.
However, whatever the official response, let the judgment be quick and fair, so we can move on to the real problem solving of the economy, with restoring government integrity, and people's trust in elected officials, and with bringing the troops home, etc.

We desperately need you to make a visit to Georgia to assist in GOTV for Jim Martin for Senate.
I know your schedule and transition team is very busy at this time, however, 1 more Democrat seat
in the Senate would be good for America and Georgia.
I've worked and sacrificed for you since the beginning and would greatly appreciate to see you in

Jim Martin is a good guy who is concerned about all the issues that concern President-Elect Obama and us...
Helping the middle class;
Improving the economy;
End the Iraq War; and, the list goes on.
I sincerely hope that all strong Democrats will assist Jim Martin in whatever way we can. I have completed several forms indicating my willingness to volunteer. As of yet, I have no response. I hope they'll call me soon.

Wade, I understand. I too am disappointed in the lack of backbone in the Democrats, voting for wars and refusing to hold people (Republicans) accountable.
I know they could have ended the war already and saved many lives. However, I believe Pelosi is one of the more progressive leaders in Congress. And the result of her action is the Democrats have a bigger majority in the House and Senate, as well as the White House. If she tried a more confrontation approach, who knows what would have happened - would a Democrat be going to the White House now? who knows.
I remember her treatment of the Republicans on the $700bn bailout. She made them contribute to the bailout in a way that signalled it was caused by Republican failure and the Republicans had to contribute to any bailout of the (corrupt/greedy) Wall street. She was also very progressive in her dealing of the contest between Obama and the Clintons.
I'm sure no-one's perfect in Congress. Bust like Obama, Pelosi hasn't quite disillusioned me yet.

The Bush administration is creating an appearance of cooperation with Obama and the transition of power. Don't be fooled by what you see on the news, however.
What's really going on is... the Bush administration is basically saying that they will be cooperative to a degree, but that the Bush administration WILL NOT BE DISCLOSING to Obama what they will be doing in the next 6 weeks (according to CNN) which is SOMETHING supposedly to do with "sealing" some kind of a deal.
Meanwhile, Obama is moving QUICKLY to get his team and administration together so that he can act to QUICKLY REVERSE whatever it is the Bush administration is up to.
The Bush administration has been quietly destroying this country (which has carelessly cost the lives of thousands of soldiers and civilians on both sides) for the past 8 years and apparently they will be up to no good in their final couple of months. I think they were expecting McCain to win. Now that Obama is the president elect, I think they are covering something up and tying up all the loose ends before they depart.
I am a little nervous that certain rogue elements of the Bush administration will linger after George's exit. Like in the CIA for example? After all, W's daddy used to be the former director of the CIA at one time. I am worried there will still be a farce of lies going on at the direction of Bush connected officials during the Obama administration.
I hope he really looks into these departments of government and dismantles any agendas that do not have anything to do with the will of the people. Like John F. Kennedy's Camelot... I want to see an Obama "BAMALOT".

People have a hard time of looking at 9/11 in a new way because once people have been told a lie for so long, it's actually biologically difficult for the neurons to rewire to a different story. I was very resistant myself to reviewing 9/11, it took me 2 months after friends told me to accept that it was really a false-flag operation.
For those of you who don't know what a false-flag attack is, watch this film:
Link
P.S. I don't think Obama can expose 9/11 himself. That would put his administration in too much danger. It will instead need a massive grass-roots movement or international investigation IMHO.
P.P.S. Bin-Laden is more likely than not 6 feet under.

So don't believe the next propagand film or voice recording that CIA rolls out from their Langley office.

Gov. Sarah Palin blames the Bush administration for the failure of the McCain-Palin ticket, thinks people need to move on from the so-called "Troopergate" controversy and has no regrets about state per diem for time spent at her home in Wasilla or state-funded travel for her children.
Palin also said she loved her time in the national spotlight and won't rule out a run for president or vice president in 2012.
Q. Why do you think your campaign lost?
A. I think the Republican ticket represented too much of the status quo, too much of what had gone on in these last eight years, that Americans were kind of shaking their heads like going, wait a minute, how did we run up a 10 trillion dollar debt in a Republican administration? How have there been blunders with war strategy under a Republican administration? If we're talking change, we want to get far away from what it was that the present administration represented and that is to a great degree what the Republican Party at the time had been representing. So people desiring change I think went as far from the administration that is presently seated as they could. It's amazing that we did as well as we did.

But we can't expect people to suddenly change their opinion about the real perpetrators of 9/11 until they review the information. Thus it's not helpful to be confrontational. Just present information, like you did above, and let them think on it.

Well, I don't think it's helpful to be confrontational and call people names. The person who "woke me up" gave me time to think about it and didn't call me names while I was denying his info. It is certainly a difficult process to "wake up" to the truth and will probably involve sleepless nights for some people. I didn't sleep very well myself for a few weeks after realizing what 9/11 was really about. Now I'm just very angry with all the lies we've been told.
Also, people don't realize how horribly the U.S. (mainly CIA and U.S. based multi-national corporations) has treated other nations for decades, even before Iraq. "War on Democracy" is just one example:

Folks, Wade is not a "nutjob". There were pools of molten steel at the bottom of the rubble piles for all three buildings. Normal hydrocarbon fires burn at about 600 degrees celcius, in perfect fuel-O2 mixtures. The temperatures would have to have been almost twice as hot to actually MELT the steel. Google "madrid highrise fire" to see how well latticed structural steel holds up to INTENSE heat. They rescuers lifted glowing steel beams that were dripping molten steel off the ends. For this to happen, one end of the beam would have to be super-heated to tens of thousands of degrees (perhaps hundreds of thousands) which would only happen with a thermite cutting charge. THE OFFICIAL STORY OF THE WTC COLLAPSE BREAKS BASIC NEWTONIAN PHYSICS AND ELEMENTARY THERMODYNAMICS. The official story CANNOT be true. Period.

Major economic proposals President-elect Obama discussed Friday to aid recovery from the nation's economic distress:
_Swift passage by Congress of a new fiscal stimulus bill either before or soon after he takes office in January.
_Immediate extension of unemployment benefits for those who can't find work.

Of course I've read 1984. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
1984, just like Brave New World, is study on what happens when people let themselves be lulled into ignorance and apathy. Huxley and Orwell were warning us about too much state control and, above all, what can happen when we, as citizens, let our common sense be overridden by fear. The Republicans ran a 2004 campaign on fear and won. They told Americans that if we elected a Democrat we would be attacked again. They pushed through the Patriot Act right after 9/11 in a climate of fear. George Bush and Dick Cheney used the 4th Amendment for toilet paper for the last 7 years. Not only are we less safe, we are less secure in our own civil rights. Big Brother is here.

To be fair, Obama mandated that the DNC not take any lobbyist money. Plus, we (and Obama) need a Democratic Congress to get anything done, and the DNC helped with the 50 state strategy. We will also need the DNC in the future to strenghten a progressive hold on the government.
I don't think there's anything wrong with giving what you can afford.

I can understand your stance on this because throughout the campaign I have attempted to have dialogue and more often than not, realized that we were not engaging in constructive dialogue, agreeing to disagree and respecting each other's opinions but rather lower the content of our dialogue to nothing more than ridicule and a few words exchanged back and forth. I believe that regardless of what we think, if we elected CHANGE, and we voted for the Obama/Biden ticket, we are seriously shortchanging them by providing ignorant statements, name calling and other forms of ridicule.
As the transition team is working hard to come into D.C. to ignite change like never before, I believe it would help all of us to consider our role. Rather than attack others or ridicule them, let's not forget why we were able to be succesful. When all of us wanted Obama to attack, he remained focused, he never gave in, regardless of what pressures were placed on him and his campaign strategists. He knew that it would get him nowhere.
We should not loose sight of the class and dignity with which this campaign was run, and follow that example as we dialogue about issues dear to our heart and yes, often still very painful to swallow in light of the fact that until now, Congress has done little to make progress in Iraq and in the lifes of our military who sacrifices everything for a war that should have never been!

I live in MO, and I am really suspicious about the vote totals, especially for St. Louis City. On the state website, it shows that the city (which voted overwhelmingly for Obama) had fairly low turnout compared to many other areas in the state, including St. Louis County. As the city has a high % of African Americans, I am suspicious of the lower turnout. I am hoping that a large number of provisional ballots are from this area and will end up putting Obama over the top. My daughter lives in an area of St. Louis County with a high % of AAs, and they tried to get her to take a provisional ballot because she had changed her address even though she had her voter card and her name was on the rolls. She is a grad student at Washington University in St. Louis, and she tells me that many students are given provisional ballots because for some reason their names do not appear on the rolls.

My recommendation for Secretary of Defense is Admiral Mike Mullen, the current Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He is an excellent choice for the position.
I served with Mike Mullen on the USS Sterett(CG-31) when we were forward deployed and home ported in Subic Bay in the Philippines, and he was the Executive Officer. I am also a Vietnam Veteran with two tours. Admiral Mullen is extremely intelligent, sees the big picture, is a strong proponent of "Diplomacy First" and that force is used as a last resort, and he is a very strong advocate for the people in uniform and their families. He and his wife Debbie would be an excellent addition to this administration.
Please allow him to interview for the jobe. I guarranty that he will positively impress you. If not SecDef, then definitely the National Security Advisor. He is that good.

I think the difference between Keith and most media is that his show obviously has a progressive bias. So I don't really buy that excuse. But like you, I also don't agree with not voting in the case other "unbiased" media people either. We are all citizens of this country and have a responsibility to take part in our democracy. Media people should be able to vote AND remain unbiased in their jobs (if that is the concern - which clearly it isn't in Keith's case!).

I seriously hope that you reconsider this important CIVIC DUTY. As a person with such a wide television audience and whom I had admired greatly as a role model of political intelligence and participation this is a true disappointment for me.
I will continue to watch your show so don't worry about your ratings. I will just do so with a large grain of salt and certainly with less enthusiasm.

Hello everyone
We are all wanting to use our energies to further change and do what we can to implement Barack's policies. We know he wants to work for the homeless, to end the occupation of Iraq, to improve the environmnet/globabl warming, to improve neighborhoods and deal w/hunger. There lots more issues too...but, in the waiting for direction...maybe we could give just $5 or whatever to Habitat for Humanity or food banks or ? charities that support these causes and ALL of us could enclose a card: 'YES WE CAN...Obama supporter donating to you to bring about the CHANGE we need in America.' Just think if organizations started receiving donations in honor of Barack (oh..if we do this we also need to ask NOT to be on mailings etc...some charities spend more than I donate mailing me junk I don't want just to try to get me to donate again...dumb).

You can make donations "in honor of" to any non-profit and they usually send the honoree an acknowledgment of the donation. We could just make the donation ....in honor of President Obama in care of: Michelle Obama with his address as 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, Washington DC. Then the notes will be sent to her and she'll read them. How should we use a name from:...Obama for Change???? Obama ????

Great idea Cindy! I think we should pick one charity a week and send in $5.00 each with the "Yes We Can" Notes - this could have a HUGE impact and lord knows this is just what President Obama had in mind in mobilizing us. I say YES WE CAN - Let's pick something cool like Habitat or one of the hunger groups and have everybody post when they donate so we can see how we do! THOUGHTS ALL?

Wade, I did not look at your links but watched "loose change" while I also worked with the U.S. House of Representatives during the time of the investigations done by the 9/11 Commission and see all points. The reports said one thing and still there are other theories that will probably never enter the committee discussions. However, I thought "loose change" was pretty compelling.
I suggest to you, understanding your frustration that you do not go tit for tat, but stick to your guns if you so choose. You will only begin lowering yourself to a level that is unnecessary. As you said, continue to welcome intellingent discussion and substantive content. While we are free to communicate on this site, as I said before, all of us are not able to do so constructively and rather than providing intellingent and substantive dialogue some people have chosen to lower the standards. What a shame on this website and what a waste of space!
And we were mad at McCain but I see some people doing the same kinds of silly attacks right here!
I think at this point your buttons are being pushed, while you have better things to do and discuss on this site. Change has come! Now let's see who is ready for it!

I agree Carolyn!
People are putting the cart before the horse and criticizing for not following through with what he said he would do before he even gets a chance to do it.
Assuming he will fall short of his agenda because all presidents to date have fallen short of their agenda is unfair and unfounded. It is likely that he will have to scale back or phase in some of his agenda slower than first anticipated given the daily growing mess that he will be inheriting. But we must be patient after all it took us eight years to get in to this mess.
With Obama this country has a fighting chance!

When you click on "Upcoming Events" or "Press Room" in the lower left masthead, there is nothing there. Just a white page.
I submitted the initial interest message there for "Jobs" and got the form email saying I would be contacted within a few days with a link to a more thorough application process but I never got that email and it has been days. I read somewhere today that the website is still under construction. So, not everything you click on will actually contain "content" right now.
But, I'm glad to see the site. Once it's up and running full force, I believe it will serve the citizens well!!

His main charter is to create jobs by looking across the entire industry, eliminating unnecessary boundaries and creating an efficient synergy.
This is very applicable for an area like Energy Independence that will be OBAMA's major project.
Any thoughts on this?

Now that we have a President Obama, I will press to make sure that, as a predominantly Christian and humane nation, that we abide by the rule 'to do unto others as we'd have them do unto us' and that we therefore press ahead for CURBING CIVILIAN CASUALTIES.
We MUST stop using heavy military tactics and ordnance to plaster small villages and residential areas, in both Iraq and Afghanistan. These specific military tactics violate Geneva Conventions and it is completely UNACCEPTABLE if we are to claim the moral high ground. We must change the way we wage war if we are to truly win hearts and minds- by adding more troops, by working more closely with local police, military fighters, and that we take exceptional care when calling air or artillery support for our troops when they fall into harm's way.
We cannot win any 'war on terror' if our actions lead to the creation of more terrorists, and if our actions are fundamentally immoral.
Consider the number of dead Iraqi civilians in the past 5 years (100,000, according to IraqBodyCount.org to 1,000,000, according to the ORB survey released early this year) . Consider if a loved one you knew were victim of a bombing run, a strafing run, or had been dismembered by accidentally stepping on a US made unexploded cluster bomb.
The economy, the climate, these can be fixed. But you cannot fix the death of foreign innocents. You cannot fix the death of foreign children.

By Al Kamen
The intense back-stabbing amongst Democrats for top jobs in the Obama administration assumes there are a fixed number of jobs worth having. But it's looking likely that some extremely choice, even consequential, jobs are going to be created by the new administration.
For example, plans are underway to establish a White House Office of Urban Policy in order to better coordinate federal efforts to help America's cities, according to Obama transition co-chair Valerie Jarrett.
"He's going to have a White House chief of urban policy," Jarrett told the Trotter Group, an organization of black columnists.
She declined to divulge any names of potential choices for the post. "I'm sure there are plenty of candidates. It's a great job," Jarrett said.
Despite the many national problems confronting the new administration, she continued, Obama remains committed to earlier pledges to establish such an office. "Because he began as a community organizer on the South Side of Chicago, he understands at the local level is really where you can impact change and that local government can play a vital role as we try to jump start our economy," she said. "So having somebody in the White House, because there are so many different agencies that really can impact urban America and to have one person whose job it is to really pull all of that together, is really a critical position. And there are plenty of terrific candidates for that spot."

DNC Chairman Howard Dean will not seek second term
1 hr 30 mins ago
WASHINGTON – Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean plans to step down from his post when his term expires in January, wrapping up a tenure in which the party heavily invested in all 50 states for a payoff that helped elect Barack Obama president.
...
Dean was the architect of a "50-State Strategy," investing money and staff in every state — including those where Democrats had long fared poorly — to build party infrastructure and lay the groundwork for electoral gains. The Obama campaign, working with DNC organizers in all 50 states, won several states that had not elected a Democratic president in decades, including Virginia, North Carolina and Indiana.
State party chairs were generally thrilled with Dean's approach, while some Democratic leaders in Washington complained early on that the party's money would be better spent helping candidates who had a real chance of winning.
The disagreement broke into open warfare in 2006, when Dean clashed over money and strategy with New York Sen. Chuck Schumer and Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel, who ran the party's successful effort to win back control of Congress. Last week, Emanuel accepted the job of White House chief of staff in an Obama administration.
Some of Dean's most vocal detractors were former advisers to President Clinton. They include strategist James Carville, who once called Dean's leadership at the DNC "almost Rumsfeldian in its incompetence."
During Dean's tenure, Democrats regained control of Congress in 2006, and captured the presidency in 2008 while increasing their numbers in the House and Senate.
Dean proved tough in enforcing party rules when he punished Florida and Michigan earlier this year, stripping them of their delegates for holding primaries ahead of schedule. The issue was eventually resolved at the Democratic National Convention in Denver in August, with all the delegates restored.
Dean is a physician and former Vermont governor.

I honestly hate the idea of Dr. Dean not being at the helm of the DNC, he's bright, focused, not much ego... and his 50 state theory really did help us move the country back in the right direction. Is there a way we can change his mind? I'm willing to make some calls. I believe with the current financial problems, it would be prudent for there not to be great shifts in leadership at the DNC. It's going to take at least a couple of Dems in the oval office to really get this country back in good shape. JMO!

Dear Obama Family,
We are in a fight between the old way of doing things vs change as Jim Martin tries to win the senate seat here in Georgia.
Jim Martin epitomizes change... and, if elected, he will be an asset to Presiden-Elect Obama's administration.
He has a record of fighting for the middle class, the disenfranchised, the poor...
He wants to end the Iraq war and he believes in quality education for all.
I hope you will join me in volunteering for Jim Martin.
The runoff is December 2, 2008 and I know if we work as hard as we previously did, we will be able to elect Jim Martin.
Please visit Jim Martin's website below:
Link
We, the people, need Jim Martin in the US Senate.
We need phonebankers to help GOTV. So, please sign up to volunteer in whatever way you can.
In the Comments Section, please write there that you are part of Barack Obama's Change Movement. That information will be routed to the appropriate staff person.
If you're unable to phonebank, please do make a donation at the link above.
Hope we can count on you!
Thanks!

I made a contribution to make sure that the Obama nation continues to have a loud voice within the Democratic party. We changed the way that campaigns are funded by growing the number of small donors to more than 3 million.
Now we can give Howard Dean some credit for the 50-state strategy that gave all Americans a bigger role in electing our President.
Thanks Gov. Dean.

Dear Obama;
I want to contribute to your campaign (donate) but i live in Canada so it is impossible.
You should open this up to more countries then just USA. You would get a lot of support.
CANADA CARES!
why don't you care about us?
we have followed your campaign for the past year and we love you dearly!
If the US goes into a deeper recession then we will go in recession- hope you do well
I love you forever
but i want a shirt!

Finally, "Proud to be an American" again. Proud of our President Elect and the many grassroots - Americans who worked together so hard to get him elected. I am overseas in the Middle East and yes it is now "Cool to be an American" overhere as well. I am emailing my expat-foreign friends living here from all over the world about the wonders of the campaign and Pres. Obama. I am so proud to be one of the many Americans who volunteered on this campaign and to be there in Wash DC during our historic victory. Thank you everyone for making this all possible. Diana

We as Americans need to realize that President-Elect Obama has not been sworn in yet, and yet the newscasters, reporters, legislaters etc. are already nit picking, complaining and not having enough faith. We as Americans, as you know a majority of us voted for Barack Obama. So why don't we give him the chance to do what he needs to do. If President-Elect Obama wants to tackle 2 to 3 tasks for America at one time. Let him do so! If President-Elect Obama wants to help get America out of the rut we are in. Let him do so! President-Elect Obama is only trying to get 8 steps ahead because America has fallen 8 steps behind.
BE PATIENT AMERICA, AFTER ALL, WE WAITED THIS LONG.

For those of us who gave repeatedly over the past 12 months, these non-stop appeals for more donations are beginning to grate. Obama needs to keep his powder dry for 2012, or we will all be experiencing severe donation fatigue by then.
As to this appeal from the DNC, I personally would like to know how much of these requested donations are earmarked for retiring Hillary's campaign debt. I, for one, have no intention of paying off her debts to her incompetent advisors.

I find it a bit annoying to be asked to donate to the DNC, while I have no idea how much money wound up left in the Obama campaign fund, to which I contributed greatly. Surely, THAT should be given to the DNC before us Obama supporters start kicking even more money in. I think the Obama and DNC funds should be considered joint efforts. We can raise money again for Obama in 2012. If the Obama campaign fund was drained, or went into debt, I'd like to know it. I did not contribute to Barack's campaign to establish a trust to be held until 2012. Those donations were for the here and now, and I'd like them used to cover the DNC's debt if they can be.
