The first 300 of the over 3,200 scheduled Economic Recovery House Meetings begin tonight. In addition to sharing their own stories, attendees will meet to discuss ways in which they can share information and build public support for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan.
In preparation for the meetings, we asked you to submit your questions about the plan and how it will affect your community. In the past few days we've poured through over 30,000 questions, and Virginia Governor and DNC Chair Tim Kaine recorded a video answering some the most popular questions:

Grassroots meetings will be taking place across the country, and we'll provide a look at a number of these over the next few days. In Colorado, the Longmont Times-Call reported:
Consider this a different sort of “party politics.” Volunteers nationwide — including several in Longmont — will be throwing “economic recovery house parties” this weekend to discuss the economic crisis and President Barack Obama’s recovery plan.... “We all have a lot at stake with this,” said Padma Wick, a volunteer with Organizing for America’s Longmont chapter. “The economy is in terrible shape and finding a good way to fix the economy is important. After the last eight years, we know that tax cuts alone don’t work. ... We know that bailouts without accountability don’t work.”The idea of the parties, she said, is to learn more about the subject in a friendly environment. Like at any house party, refreshments and friendly chats are part of the agenda — but so are a video and other materials to help guide the economic discussion.Response been high so far; Wick’s own party already has 25 people coming. She wouldn’t even mind doing more of these.“I would like to stay involved,” Wick said. “I value active citizenship.”
