FAQ's on Health Care Reform and the Public Option |

Hi,
I missed the last conference call, however, I will be waiting by the phone for this one!
We are hosting a Health Fair on the 27th. We will have;Blood Pressure Screening, Glucose Check, Private HIV Testing, Sickle Cell Screening, Speakers.
I want to open the Health Fair with a statement about Health Care Reform and I anticipate questions.
My question, Is there a document you can send us with Frequently asked questions and up to the minute answers? Please discuss Single Payer vs. Public. What is the Public Option/What is Single Payer. How will this be paid for? How will this affect me if I am employed? Will my employer health insurance premiums be lower?
I have been watching the press conferences, etc. trying to make up my own FAQ.
Also, the local county Sr. Democrats would like me or someone from hdqtrs to attend their next meeting to talk to them about Health Care Reform.

Dear Addisu,
The purpose of the "service" day cannot just be to provide a volunteer boost to some health related service. It clearly has been part of the concerted campaign for health care finance reform. The problem is that the 3 points promoted by OFA and Pres. Obama simply are not going to be achieved without some specific legislative proposal. Now we heard Pres. Obama state yesterday at the press conference that the "public option" is not a line drawn in the sand, not a "non-negotiable" stand on his part. Those of us who have found "single payer" to be the best way to answer the 3 points have been nonplussed by the squelching of any discussion whatsovever anywhere. "Off the table" seems to be the OFA stance as well. And yet according to analysts the feeblest attempt at a public option is being muscled right out of the running by the health care industry whose stocks rose yesterday obviously because the "public option" is looking dead in the water.
My question: why aren't us grassroots going to be pressuring congress and the president for single payer instead of using the empty words "public option"? How do we push Pres. Obama to do it?
Thank you,
tom
Unable to Make Conference Calls |

I will be again unable to participate in tonight's conference call. I have to coach my daughter's t-ball team and was unable to find anyone to fill in.
We have had difficulty getting cooperation from the local free clinics for volunteer projects; however, I believe we are now set to help with a Charity Run/Walk Event that day that will benefit a local Food Pantry organization. I should hopefully be able to enter exact details on the event listing tomorrow. We do have 15 people signed up to attend so far, and I have passed the information along to the Eau Claire and Dunn County Democrat offices, as well.
My only question at this time is what exactly the details are that we are garnering support for. Several people have asked me what exactly the public plan will entail and I do not have good enough information to offer them. I have reiterated President Obama's 3 conditions for Health Care Reform, but I must concur with the general public in saying that those are very vague.
Can you please post details so we can be more well-informed when discussing this topic with the general public on June 27?
Thanks so much.

Please add me to the CHIPS e-mail going out; we are holding a Healthcare Fair. cindi153@yahoo.com or Cindi in Prosper on MYBO.
Will there be a way to upload a spreadsheet rather then reentering data?
Thanks,
Cindi

I unfortunately missed yesterday's conference call, but I have a few questions. I am hosting a Healthy food drive in Austin, Texas but my event does not show up on the map when you search for local events. How could I get it on the map?
