Thanks, Stan Z,
Once we get the tests out of the way and have an idea what may or may not be wrong, we'll rest a little easier.
My husband is very calm. I'm the one who loses it. I manage to stay cool through the crisis and fall apart afterwards. So far I'm holding up.
The hardest thing is going to be getting him to sleep by 1 AM. He's a night person but he can't have anything to eat past 1 AM and he's a big midnight snacker. I have the baseball bat all ready if I have to knock him out. That's at least one bump on his head I can say I know where it came from.
All joking aside, thanks Stan Z and everyone here for all the prayers and kind words.

The truth is, by fighting the problem and not getting a public option we will have not only failed but will have made things far worse than they currently are. This is what happened with the Clinton efforts, its where we find ourselves today Sicko, worse once the organized insurance companies have their way through buying positions with politicians. That's why I have said in the past, if no public option then we should outlaw Health-care insurance all together so we can be free like the Republicans want.

7/6/09 By Rachel Bloom and John Cranford, CQ Staff
Excerpts:
As his presidency approaches the half-year mark, Barack Obama is on pace to be the most successful Oval Office occupant in more than half a century when measured by his ability to get Congress to vote his way -- even though he shows signs of carefully picking his fights on Capitol Hill.
• Obama has secured victories on 24 of the 26 House votes where he's staked out a clear position in advance and 36 of 37 votes in the Senate. One of his two House defeats came on a meaningless vote two days after he took office to block continuation of the $700 billion financial bailout effort begun in September.
The other was two weeks ago on passage of the defense authorization bill for fiscal 2010, which Obama has threatened to veto because it would continue building F-22 fighter jets, which he wants to cancel, and require an alternative engine design for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, an addition he doesn't think is necessary...
• If Obama's success rate holds, he'll surpass Democrat Lyndon B. Johnson, who has the record with 93.1 percent in 1965, his second full year in office. Republican Dwight D. Eisenhower has the second-highest success rate, 89.2 percent in 1953, his first year. By contrast, Democrat Bill Clinton -- who started strong with 86.4 percent success rates his first two years -- has the lowest one-year success score of the past half-century, 36.2 percent in 1995, the year the Republicans took control of Congress.
• Democrats in both chambers are far more supportive of Obama than they have been for a president of either party in half a century. Senate Democrats are voting with him 92 percent of the time on average, and House Democrats are supporting him 89 percent of the time.
• Senate and House Republicans aren't consistent with each other in their support for Obama. Perhaps it's not a surprise that members of the House GOP are voting with Obama just 36 percent of the time -- compared with their average support score of 39 percent for Clinton in his first year and 42 percent for Democrat Jimmy Carter in his first year. But Senate Republicans have so far supported Obama 56 percent of the time. That's the second-highest Senate GOP support score for any Democratic president...

If Senate Democrats are voting with him 92% does that mean (this term) that their really aren't that many Democrats in the Senate that are moderate or "conservadems" ?
The thing is, the voting electorate will remember the BIG VOTES...Arlen Spector's future with the GOP was ended with the vote on the stimulus....You can vote against Obama on the small things, but on things like universal healthcare the Democrats that stand in his way will face primary challenges unless they are in dark dark red states like Louisiana.
I just want to get more Democrats elected in 2010 that have the courage to stand to the system with integrity and support reform efforts....I doubt with a serious campaign finance reform bill, ethics reform bill, etc.. he will get 92% of the Senate Democrats.
Right now Obama's 2008 campaign (and probably 2012 too) doesn't take money from lobbyists or PAC's...Same thing with the Democratic Party..the national DNC...Obama needs to get all Democrats to take that pledge as well as the committees (within congress) that raise money for Democratic Congressional Candidates....
As far as the local stuff, they can do whatever they want, some Dem running for city council in Cincinatti, or mayor in Bakersfield, or Governor even..
With all this social networking maybe they can all have these pages where supporters can find issues and donate..

US finalizes stem cell research guidelines |

7/6/09 AFP
WASHINGTON (AFP) - The US government has unveiled final ground rules for "ethically responsible, scientifically worthy" embryonic stem cell research studies, eligible for federal funds.
The new rules, which go into effect on Tuesday, follow President Barack Obama's March 9 executive order lifting a ban on embryonic stem cell research, an order that went into effect under his predecessor, George W. Bush.
They allow funding for research using human embryonic stem cells created by in-vitro fertilization (IVF) for reproductive purposes and no longer needed, in a departure from the Bush administration's policy.
The National Institutes of Health's (NIH) guidelines are slightly less restrictive than those outlined in a draft document released in April in that they allow the use of existing stem cell lines, in addition to new ones derived from IVF procedures.

I expect Franken to a typical democrat which is not an overwhelming endorsement. But I sure am happy to see him replace that putz Coleman. That is truely worth celebrating. I hope Franken lives up to the challenge ahead of him.

He won a tough election and that is to his credit. But the bottom line is not winning the election. That is just the beginning. I expect he will be better than many of the democrats and certainly better than all of the republicans but as we are seeing in the senate it is extremely rare for any of them to go too far when it comes to progress. As such, I expect he will not be as good as the best in thr club. I expect him to vote better than my own illustrious senator DiFi but I don't think he will be as good as Paul Wellstone was. So I would put him in the middle of the democrats, maybe a bit left leaning for that group, but nonetheless still a fairly typical democrat.
But it is only the guys first day so he has yet to do anything other than win the tough election. So our expectations at this point are just that. We shall see.
As a Green I in general am not a big fan of the elected members of thd democratic party. But there are some I respect and even one I voted for and worked for to become president.

Ok. Understand where you are coming from. However, just because he is now part of a group that has let us down....does not mean he will do the same. That said, winning is only half the battle and as we all know, actions speak louder than words. Hence, for me will give him a bit more credit than just winning a typical campaign. Was no slam dunk. Just so you know, think it is a wait and see for most. Not an easy gig to be a politician these days.

Sorry to be late reading and posting ...
Remember Franken said he is one of 2 senators from his state not one of 60.
And that is the way the governemnt works -- federal and states, checks and balances...
SO, I hope he learns how to do a good job for the people of his state. Sometimes that could mean going against instant opinion polls in the state, in the country or both, sometimes going against the party leadership. Hopefully, he will be thoughtful and principled.
From what I've been able to see since he began in politics, he's likely to do it well.

I hope he doesn't get some screwed up committee assignments because the committees he wanted are all filled...
It will be an interesting transition for him....He is known as a comedian but will make few jokes and instead show a serious side....He will probably spend the first year completely focused on the state of Minnesota, going back to MN every weekend instead of getting attention for himself in other states or in the national news programs...
I hope Klobuchar becomes the next MN Governor in 2010...I def. don't want this loser guy Norm Coleman....that guy is a joke...
He showed a lot of class in how he handled the court fight...a lot...didn't trash the other guy...

This may be off-topic for Senator Franken, but I admire his portrayal of Stuart in 'Stuart Saves His Family'. He played the part with humanity and conviction, and I was in awe of his fully owning a character that represented qualities that are usually considered abhorrent in heterosexual males. Softness and compassion are rare qualities in men, but sorely needed. Gentleness softens the warring instinct in some men (and women). Sometimes I think homophobia has its roots in the mistaken assumption that gentleness feminizes masculinity. I admire flexibility in masculinity - the flexibility to parent as a mother and father depending on the situation. That's what PO represents to me -- the balance of parenting in one man. If Senator Franken was able to tap this quality for his role of Stuart, then perhaps he has the potential to help our cause.

Slain SC serial killing suspect had long rap sheet
AP -
GAFFNEY, S.C. - The serial killer who terrorized a South Carolina community by shooting five people to death before police killed him Monday was a career criminal paroled just two months ago, authorities said.
Patrick Burris, 41, was shot to death by officers investigating a burglary complaint at a home in Gastonia, N.C., 30 miles from where the killing spree started June 27. Bullets in his gun matched those that killed residents in and around Gaffney over six days last week, said State Law Enforcement Division Chief Reggie Lloyd.

For as long as it drags out I would like to see these insurance companies spending in excess of 2 million dollars a day all the while finding ways to fill Democratic Politicians pockets and aiding in proving-out our positions on the subject of Health-care reform. Through time this angle lets the insurance companies defeat themselves while it strengthens many of our positions, example, due to public outrage that will ensue as a result, i.e. people are being denied coverage and benefit payouts every day, some people are dying and others are forced to spend every waking moment doing endless phone calls and paperwork noting that the insurance companies now burden the policy holder with administrative type paperwork. Remember 20 years ago insurance companies provided some administrative support to the policyholder unlike now. If Americans have not already, someday they may have the misfortune of explaining to their boss that they have been on the phone excessively because they have been hog-tied into handling the Health-care insurance issues they as a home-owner can not afford to let slide and that the mistakes of their own employers Health-care insurance company are always in favor of the insurance company and never the employee or the employer. Consider how Medicare works by comparison: if you are alone and find yourself really sick at least with Medicare you do not have to worry about certain administrative burdens and thus at least you can focus on the recovery instead of some corporate pig at the privet Health-care insurance company that is looking for opportunities to throw you under the proverbial bus. I believe Americans economic futures are currently being stolen by Health-care insurance companies even though some of these are Non-for-Profit based. Being buried in paperwork and phone calls just because you need to use your employer provided Health-care coverage is in its own right a demoralizing experience. These insurance companies are using the money they are saving though lack of administrative overhead and the denying of claims and coverage. While Health-care insurance companies are having the patient do their administrative job for them they are robbing the people of their piece of mind while currently every day they proceed to throw 1.4 million dollars of their customers money at fighting change and undermining Obama's Health-care reform plans

Here's the link with comments from Rahm Emmanuel and from the President:
Link
"It is more important that health-care legislation inject stiff competition among insurance plans than it is for Congress to create a pure government-run option, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel said.
"'The goal is to have a means and a mechanism to keep the private insurers honest,' he said in an interview. 'The goal is non-negotiable; the path is' negotiable.
"President Barack Obama has campaigned vigorously for a full public option. But he's also said that he won't draw a 'line in the sand' over this point. On Tuesday, the White House issued a statement reiterating his support for a public plan.
"'I am pleased by the progress we're making on health care reform and still believe, as I've said before, that one of the best ways to bring down costs, provide more choices, and assure quality is a public option that will force the insurance companies to compete and keep them honest,' the president said in the statement. 'I look forward to a final product that achieves these very important goals.'"

My heart thrills at the vision of opening global borders so that ideas and technologies come together. Perhaps peace, health, and prosperity can be found in countries working together to resolve the larger puzzle that has long created war, hatreds, and disease.

Just read on HuffPo that the administration may be willing to sacrifice the public option to get more Republican votes. Is it my imagination or have I seen several opinion polls where a substantial majority of Americans (including Republicans) back a public health plan?
If it's true the WH is going to surrender, I'm outta here. I donated more money and time than I could really afford in the hope we'd elect someone who would radically change the direction of our foreign and domestic policies. I don't care about bipartinsanship if it means getting lousy public policy my grandkids have to live with.
It seems to me a system that is hostage to a 60% supermajority (aka the US Senate) is just plain broken, and we deserve whatever crap comes out of it. Or we need to elect a president who has the gumption to fight for what the people who elected him want to see happen.

Amen. This administration needs to think long and hard about the supporters they will disenfranchise from the process if they cave on this.
If they cave they lose the mid terms huge because there will be no money coming in to support candidates and Barack Obama will be a one term president.
There is no compromise short of a public option on this issue possible and survive politically. Better to fight and lose.
Making a compromise will be to hand the GOP everything they ever wanted economically and politically.

Mr. President,
I woke up this morning to read they you are willing to compromise on a public option. As a pastor in a rural community I beg you to not do this. Please fight tooth and nail for the public option.
If you do not I am sure that you will be a one term president because all of us who worked so hard for you in the last election will never be back to support the process again which will mean only one thing the Republicans will not just win this issue they will regain full control of all three branches because no one will ever respect or trust you or a democrat again.
I, personally, made hundreds of phone calls for you during the last campaign and contribute 10x more financial support to your campaign than I had ever contributed previously because I thought we were taking a different approach to the problems in Washington and this country. Compromises of this type would prove it all a lie.
It is better to have fought this battle to the wall and lose and expose the corruption than settle and lose everything.

Its like this....you are driving down a one lane road and the speed limit is 45 but the driver in front of you is doing 25 mph. I have two options. I can just let him dictate the speed of that road and travel at the much slower pace or I can honk my horn to make him aware that he is impeding traffic. Now some might say blowing your horn is rude, but if it makes him aware that he now has 20 cars lined up causing a traffic backup on that road then maybe a little nudge with the horn was just what was needed to get that traffic moving at a pace that will get them to where they need to go.

That group of people is US! We fought long and hard and along the way we met and got to know a man with a funny name who spoke of CHANGE and HOPE and we listened and followed him everywhere he went.

This equates to saving someone's life and throwing it in their face everytime they do something that you do not agree with. I haven't had a chance to read the complete article but I heard Bill Press mention it this morning. I notice that Bill is also quick to jump on the negative bandwagon and start controversy where it does not exist. On the other hand he is doing a great job in calling out the Dems who oppose a public option.

It's a good question if we look at the question as a 'question' and not an insult.
And I think something can be learned from examining why people post here (including myself).
Part of the set of reasons may include that people feel their voice is heard here a bit more than calling their representative or Senator. It could be related to the approval ratings of POTUS vs Congress in that regard. People go to who they think will get them results, not necessarily who is designated to handle an issue.
Another component of the answer is that OFA is akin to 'family' for quite a few people. When someone in our family (Barack in this case) is about to make a mistake, we rush to council them. We look for 'confirmation' of the 'rumor' from a trusted source, and particularly if the 'rumor' is about the trusted source.
The above may give some hints to 'motivation' of our opponents to create internal dissent. If there is a way to spin POTUS comments (or COS) that can create 'doubt' and 'confusion' then it is very advantageous for our opposition to promote. I think considering possible 'motivation' is important, and going to a 'trusted' source for resolving the rumor seems appropriate.
In any event, it's difficult to compare the level of response of people to a negative rumor vs the same folks pressing for the public plan option because we can't measure the 'offline' activity as directly as 'blog posts'. So any comparison has quite a bit of guesswork and takes a lot of thought to evaluate.
I know you meant the question as 'rhetorical', yet it's a good question nonetheless (if we ignore the 'tone').

I csn't believe the Whitehouse is now on the verge of caving to Big Pharma by backing off the Public OPtion. There will be no real healthcare reform without a Public Option. We worked hard to elect President Obama. We expect him to fight for real reform as he promised instead we get him backing off and giving in to the big lobbyists spending millions daily to prevent reform. We do not want a 7 year trigger for a public option. We want real reform with a strong public option. It is time for the president to fight for us. It is easy to make a great speech. Now it is time for the Whitehouse to fight for us and give us real heathcare reform and not just pretend to do so.

Consider the Pesident's whole plan.
So far, several issues have been addressed that we need very very much -- no exclusions because of prior condidtions, helping people deprived of medicine because of the Medicare doughnut hole, going for equity across states in Medicaid...
Give him a chance. The President's three core pinciple can work. He has professionals on his staff (e.g., Emanuel, Axelrod, DeParle) figuring out how to get Health Care Reform.
Why bother with it? Well, look at the Health care stories!
I've had private plan, public, plan and no insurance -- big problems with all those and Health Care reform needs to address all of them.
Sorry to be delayed in reading and posting.

In all due respects, 'not so fast'. For starters, I don't trust Rahm Emanuel as much as I trust Barack Obama (I've never liked Emanuel, especially after he attacked and swore at Howard Dean's 50-state strategy).
So, I will give our President the benefit of the doubt. He's back next week stateside and HE said he will ramp up his efforts even more starting July 12 to get healthcare reform passed, with a strong PUBLIC OPTION.
The centrist dem and just say NO repub Senators are the problem here.

Rich,
For Rahm, swearing is term of endearment, so I discount the Dean thing - that's just Rahm making his 'case' in his 'style'. I'm OK with it to some degree.
This is an awesome opportunity for us. Basically we 'debate' health care nationally, gather supporters, then do a 'roll call' based on a 'rumor' that Barack is backing away from a public plan option. It's a wonderful mechanism for 'counting' who will 'stand up'; were all those phone calls congress answered just phone calls, or were there people willing to really hold them accountable? This is a way to show what's behind our push for a public plan option. A way to show some unity (despite having different ways of handling it, we are mostly on the same team).
Stay mad though, I'm not suggesting otherwise. But let's be aware of the larger picture as well.

President Obama could go two ways on health care.
...
come down to a dubious choice -- one measly Republican, Olympia Snowe, or a public option she'll want to hold only as leverage, not immediately create.
In modern times the pursuit of bipartisanship usually has been more trouble than it's been worth. You spend all your time trying to land a handful of converts; meantime the opposition spends all its time plotting to destroy you for whatever you propose without regard for any bipartisan recruits won in the pointless margins.
Don't forget how well it went for Obama when he brought that Republican senator, New Hampshire's Judd Gregg, into the Cabinet. Why, he got literally hours of faithful service.

Mr. Emanuel said one of several ways to meet President Barack Obama's goals is a mechanism under which a public plan is introduced only if the marketplace fails to provide sufficient competition on its own. He noted that congressional Republicans crafted a similar trigger mechanism when they created a prescription-drug benefit for Medicare in 2003. In that case, private competition has been judged sufficient and the public option has never gone into effect.
is he serious? The Bush prescription drug plan was horrible policy. Huge giveaaway to big Pharma, no price negotiating power. I can't belive the White House thinks that should be model for healthcare reform.

Now is the time for the American people to demand that all members of Congress and members of the Obama Administration empty their pockets before the public altar. Why? We need to know fully why the DLC and their neo-conservative partners are in collusion with the private healthcare industry and lobbyists to defeat the sacred right for universal healthcare for all citizens. The President and Congress work for the American people and not vice versus. For all those members of Congress and the Obama Administration who express undying love to the private sector my advice is to leave public office. Of course the lobbyists and private sector vultures will welcome them with open arms and baskets of money. Public office is to serve the people.

Obama says war with North Korea not imminent ....
MOSCOW - President Barack Obama says he doesn't think any war "is imminent" with North Korea.
Speaking in a network interview while meeting with Russian leaders, Obama was asked how precarious is the security situation in the wake of North Korea's nuclear tests and new sanctions as a result of them. In the CBS interview, he said, "I don't think that any war is imminent with North Korea." He also said, "I think they understand that they would be overwhelmed in a serious military conflict with the United States."
Obama said in a speech to The New Economic School that the United States and Russia "should be united" in resisting Pyongyang's nuclear ambitions.
In an ABC interview, he said, "Weve already seen a ship of North Koreas turned back because of international effort to implement the sanctions and I think that is a positive step forward."

Yep, on N Korea POTUS has come through for me again. I'd be more worried about N Korea if tensions were building and they were NOT allowed to blow some steam. Similar to sex perhaps, but their testing has been a non-harmful release of tension. Now they can go home feeling relieved and satisfied (and perhaps toast their overtures with a cigarette?).
Question: 'Do you smoke after sex?'
Answer: 'I don't know. I've never looked.'

What we need right now is as many people on board who will join in the fight. Talking about what's wrong and not doing anything about it is what's been going on for too long.
That's all VA GG, Donna, myself and many others are trying to say.
I admire your passion and your strength. There are days I wake up and wonder if I have the will to go on. Well, let's just say that IMO ole Rusty and Brad are examples of chafe -- Mattcarr80 and others coming today aren't.

If you invite someone over to your house for coffee or dinner and then they show up and say they don't like the way your house looks, or they didn't like they way the food was cooked or the coffee was too bitter, I think you're going to be a little hesitant in inviting them over again! If I do invite them over again it's going to be with the caveat that I don't want to hear about how bad my house or my cooking is.
For the most part I think most of the regulars here have always been pretty inviting and usually engage with newcomers, but we've also seen a certain pattern here with concern trolls, so it's very possible that some of us are a little short when we see this type of activity.

A knowledgeable industry source confirmed yesterday that, as part of their efforts to roll back the Obama proposal for a consumer financial products regulator, several lobbying organizations representing banks are developing a "Harry and Louise"-style ad campaign, after the commercials that targeted the Clinton healthcare plan in the early '90s. The ads will emphasize the intrusiveness of the proposal--of the government "telling you what you can and can't buy," according to the source. The hope is to run them sometime in July, when House Financial Services chairman Barney Frank plans to move the measure through his committee.
The coalition has solicited pitches from at least four advertising firms. The source didn't specify the price tag for the campaign, but, perhaps tellingly, said it's intended to counter what the coalition expects to be $5 million in spending from consumer groups.

Paperless health care? 1 hospital's long journey ......
By LAURAN NEERGAARD, AP Medical Writer - 2 hrs 20 mins ago
PITTSBURGH - Baby Riley Matthews wheezed noisily on the exam table. "He's belly-breathing," the emergency-room doctor said worriedly -- Riley's little abdomen was markedly rising and falling with each breath, a sign of respiratory distress.
In most emergency rooms, the doctor would grill Mom: Has he ever been X-rayed? Do you remember what it showed? But in the new all-digital Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, doctors just clicked on a COW -- a "computer on wheels" that rolls to each patient's side. Up popped every test and X-ray the 6-month-old has ever had.
This is the eerily paperless hospital of the future, what the "electronic medical record" that President Barack Obama insists will transform what health care looks like.

REQUIEM FOR TROLLS AKA TROLLS IGNORE ....and Reasons Why.

The reason I created this event was twofold.First out of respect for my "O" family.Secondly.in response to many paid TROLLS that literally invade our website.I am convinced that our passion to share ideas, information , frustrations, and disagreements have been purposely distractive and disrupted by the opponents to our Grass Roots Campaign. How do you know a Troll?Sometimes you won't right away.We have always attracted visitors that are lookin for answers, discussion and those who are just curious, and should never be dismissed as Trolls, because they offer resistance in a respectful way.If they are adamant and repetitive we know moving on to another thought is our way to disengage quietly, effectively. The abusive Trolls are obvious. They are insulting to BARACK.I don't mean questioning a decision or position,I mean abusive and insulting language. This dirisive behavior, name calling, etc is directed at the campaign and other bloggers as well.Hard to take I know, espiecially when we can let loose elsewhere to these miserable people. However,it has been proven that the most effective result is to ignore. No engagement,no discourse of any kind, just ignore. One can REPORT,IMMEDIATELY,but HQ is not always, immediate.Watch out for those Trolls that enter into an ongoing conversation or discussion, joining one side to engage abusively toward the other.Another trick. Thanks to all for keeping us focused on our Goal. OBAMA / BIDEN 08

WALKING BACK RAHM? A day after his chief of staff suggested the White House could live with a public option-free health care reform bill, President Obama released a statement (from Russia!) reaffirming his support for a government-run health care plan:
"I am pleased by the progress we're making on health care reform and still believe, as I've said before, that one of the best ways to bring down costs, provide more choices, and assure quality is a public option that will force the insurance companies to compete and keep them honest. I look forward to a final product that achieves these very important goals." (10:15 a.m.)

This is exactly what I mean. Its as if some are just looking for something negative so they can rush to judgment and fight with this administration.
I told you all a few weeks ago that I feel their is a strategy out there to divide and conquer us and this is how they plan to do it. Sites like Dkos and Hpost are far to eager to post this stuff and rile up our supporters. This is the second time this has happened in the last two weeks.
I spoke up this morning when it happened on this site and I will continue to speak up because I am not going to let the naysayers win.

I read the President's statement with great dismay. Despite what the Politico reporter thinks, the President is backing up Emanuel's interview statements 100%. President Obama's formal statement -- & this is not the kind of careless thing one might say or garble in an interview; it's carefully worded -- says only that he looks forward to meeting THE GOALS that a public option would achieve; i.e., lower healthcare costs. THE PRESIDENT'S STATEMENT DOES NOT TAKE A STAND FOR THE PUBLIC OPTION.
Those of us who want a public option are not going to just get it; we're going to have to fight for it.

It's not that complicated to figure out what he wants, despite all the noise. We will most certainly have to fight for what we want. And that will be the case for all our causes. It's just their non-journalistic ways of the proverbial "stirring-the-pot". And, the old adage: "While the cats away the mice will play". And, the "same old" tactics that we've all seen before: DIVISION - DISTRACTION - DIVERSION.
Please move along & DO NOT BE DISTRACTED.
The GOP & the LOBBYISTS would like nothing better to get everyone FIGHTING.
MOVE ALONG! CAUSE THERE'S MUCH WORK TO DO!
And, to answer your question, there are several BILLS out there. They'll all have to be reconciled in the Senate Committee & then there's the HOUSE version. After that, the HOUSE & SENATE Bills will have to be voted on seperately & then the FINAL Bills out of the Senate & House have to reconciled.
At this time, keep dialing those SENATORS to make certain that they begin to realize Americans want a PUBLIC OPTION with NO Co-Ops & NO TRIGGERS!
Don't be "co-opted" out of REAL REFORM, that option is WEAK. And, the "trigger" option is simply "kicking-the-can down the road.
Just checking in while on business in OTTAWA. Keep up the good fight for REAL Health Care Reform.
Cheers,

Hello, meta - I am totally with you. Just remember when candidate Barack Obama said "Don't for one moment believe that power yields easily". Of course, the interest groups will fight and they aren't too picky about the ways of presenting their case. But in the end, I totally trust our President. He will never sign a bill that doesnt't bring about real change. The public option will be part of the health care reform simply because none of the so-called alternatives satisfies his three core principles. I have been making a lot of phone calls to gather support for health care reform. My "enemy" is the voice mail and answering machine - once I actually get to speak to someone, I always get a positive response. Make no mistake, the people are ready for real change - the Congress will follow. To all on this blog: Stay positive - it was our belief that we can work together that gave us the chance to change the country and change the world. Our President is doing all he can and so should we.

Supporters out of frustation throw up their hands and decide not to make calls or work to get Health Care Reform passed because they feel the administration is not going to give them what they want and the whole thing just fizzles out and the insurance companies laugh at us all the way to the bank.

Sure he could express himself differently but please let's not dig at each other there's plenty of digging everywhere else
Isack could you please try to express things a little more diplomatically and be more specific that way it doesn't come off like you are attacking everyone and using sweeping generalizations
I hope you have a great trip JD!

Well, well, well, I just logged on and have been reading up on the comments from earlier.
Wow, seems like a family at a holiday gathering.
-Brother 'Avid for the Cause', who can usually be counted on for his insight and knowledge, has decided to invite a friend to the festivities. This friend for whatever reasons, has decided to be less than cordial. The friend has made everyone uncomfortable and is causing the family to wonder why 'Avid for the Cause' would defend the friend's behavior that is so off-putting to his family.
-Sister 'Dynamo Doer' is not going to sit quietly by and let this complete stranger come into the family's home on such an occaision and dis the dishes. She's going to speak up out of love for her brother and her family and remind him that long after his friend leaves, the family must still stick together on the course that was charted long ago. She wants the family to understand that she won't let outsiders come in and try to change the family's direction.
-Uncle 'Intense the Intenser' just can't understand why the family is sitting around the table listening to any of these folks, brother, sis, or the friend. As a matter of fact, Uncle Intense thinks the entire family is nuts for even getting together on a holiday. Uncle Intense was the first to take a seat at the table and finished his dinner before anyone else. Now he can't understand why everybody is still talking.
He's thinking, 'I'm done with this holiday, and it doesn't make sense to have a special meal for it in the first place (burp).'
The rest of the family agrees with Sister Dynamo and many have said so. Brother Avid won't throw his friend under the bus (what we like about him), so he and his friend leave. Brother Avid will be back after he cools off. Now, Uncle Intense has just settled in for the rest of the evening. Spewing at the family periodically from the corner recliner of some injustice or another.

Hey fountain mom, i am ok with all the attacks and insults. I am waiting for healthcare reform, and education reform. After that i will be gone from this blog, and all you all can be happy.
There is a troll on this site who comes under different names...that's who i was addressing.
Look my focus is on contacting many democentrists who are flaking. I want a strong public option and i am doing all i can to make sure the presiden't message comes through. It is all about education/energy as far as i am concerned.
Bring it on.

RIP MJ -
I watch the banned version of the video - "They don't really care about us". Great video - I wonder if that's why the media was so determined to destroy his life.

Hopefully he will finally get some peace.
I often wonder why the media hated him so. He even had to make a song pleading with them to let him be.
Clearly, MJ was for peace, he was clearly for change, we just voted for change and hopefully MJ will finally realize some peace in his death.

Appliance Rebate Funding |

Jul 7th 2009 at 12:14 pm EDT (Updated Jul 7th 2009 at 12:14 pm EDT)
Can anyone comment if the funding has made it to the states on this or not?
The US stimulus bill recently signed into law by US President Barack Obama includes a $300 million provision to fund the Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program.
This program will be administered through the 50 US states and will provide financial incentive to encourage consumer spending and target it to energy savings through consumer rebates for the purchase of Energy Star appliances.
The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) and the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) urge the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to quickly disburse funding to state energy offices for the Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Programs so that consumer rebates will be available for the summer months to purchase ENERGY STAR appliances.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 will stimulate demand for home appliances, provide consumers with tremendous savings on the initial purchase cost and long-term utility costs of appliances, and will also provide an important environmental benefit by way of a significant decrease in energy consumption.

PBO is also having a great day. He met with Putin, Gorbachov, made his address to the graduates, met with councils and the opposition party. He's working very hard. So far, his reception has been phenomenal. Lots of positive, effusive commentary on Russian TV.
