I'll have some reflections on the campaign and President Barack Hussein Gobama in a Paxcast and Friday's Special One Hour PaxLive, but for now a few parting highlights:

I was pleasantly surprised to have Ericka arrive several hours earlier than planned yesterday. Almost immediately she was put to work--I'd intended to send her out to canvass Littleton but Trellis, one of our triage guys, quickly assembled an emergency team to go help out the Lancaster folks up north, so I got to GOTV with my best girl.

We got a packet for a very dispersed, unwalkable area north of Lancaster (Grovetown), so we did the car team thing: I drove and Ericka hopped out to knock doors. Mostly "yes, we voted...FOR OBAMA!" from enthusiastic folks, so our IDs were solid overall. One old lady who lived across the street from HS polling place was not sure if she'd vote so Ericka offered a ride...she reconsidered the short distance and said she probably would. Still marked "not voted" so ideally she got a follow-up call before the polls closed.

The sun sets on McCain and the GOP as we canvass Brown Rd.

Darkness was our enemy, but we got most of our turf knocked. On the way back "home" there was a gorgeous moon with Jupiter and Venus below her as the sun set.

We dropped by the office briefly, then went to dinner since we'd been apart for a week. Afterwards we were walking back down Main St and saw a lady I'd canvassed weeks ago who thought Gobama sounded too much like MLK and that her vote didn't matter. She was walking her dog and said hi to us--not sure if she recognized me or ended up voting at all, let alone for O, but she had a big smile and was clearly in a good mood, so I'll take that as a good sign.

Twittered this already, but...Even after a late night and adrenaline crash, we still woke up at 6AM and went to breaky at Topic of the Town. The waitress saw our Obama buttons and noted that last night was awesome, but we were surrounded by Republicans so she had to keep kinda quiet. One loud lady with a flag lapel pin was going on about Soros and Oprah giving money to O, how if money were the only thing then Forbes would've won so there was more there than meets the eye and heck, we don't even know if he's a US citizen or not! We smiled, paid, got outside and laughed our fucking asses off. Get over it folks, we won.

After a nap, we said final goodbyes and left Littleton, which was weird because I feel like I know half the town now and spent a lifetime there. We saw a bald eagle swoop low in front of us just before we hit the Vermont border, which somehow seems a good omen of America's re-emergence from the darkness.

PS--Good security: the party took away my database access right away. Makes me a bit sad because it's truly all over, but I think I'll be back in the game next cycle...
