Senator John Kerry came to town to stump for Barack Obama on Tuesday October 14, 2008. I wasn't able to stay for the entire speech, due to a prior commitment, but I did get most of it on film and it is now posted on YouTube check it out:
Senator Kerry speaks at Obama/Biden Rally in Madison, WI
I missed the rally the last time Kerry was in town in 2004. He mentions it in the speech. There were 80,000 people - on the Thursday before the election in 2004. He ended up carrying the state by less than 1 % of the vote. Any way being a native of Massachusetts I've always thought he was my senator, so I wanted to catch him this time he was in Madison. I thought he had some pretty funny one liners, but also spoke seriously about the issues and challenges that the Obama/Biden ticket is talking about.
Not seen in the video, but there was a group of about 40 McCain supporters just off to the side of the capitol steps. I was surprised they didn't get louder. I only heard a murmur once or twice during the entire 30 minutes or so things were going on. I guess they're polite. Too bad their candidate and his running mate aren't so nice.
