A false assumption about John McCain
Where did the assumption come from that John McCain is always there for our troops?. His voting record clearly denies that:
April, 2003: He voted against $1 billion for National Guard and Reserve equipment.
October, 2003: He voted to table an amendment to give $322 million for safety equipment to our troops.
March, 2004: He voted to eliminate a loophole that, if removed, would increase veterans medical care.
April, 2006: He voted against $20 million for veteran health care facilities.
March, 2007: He did not vote at all on redeployment of our troops from Iraq by 2008.
September, 2007: He voted against the Webb amendment that would specify minimum rest periods for our troops.
May, 2008: He spoke against Senator Webb’s new GI Bill, then didn’t bother to vote, yet he accepted praise from President Bush when that bill passed.
Furthermore, the following veterans organizations have scored his voting record in support of the troops:
The Iran & Afghanistan Veterans of America gave Sen. McCain a ‘D’ for his voting record, compared to an A-plus for Sen. Barack Obama.
The Disabled American Veterans gave him a score of 20 percent compared to a score of 80 percent for Obama
I got this information from network news. Check it out.
