Yes, Obama was lucky he had the foresight to know that the Iraq War was an utter and complete boondoggle. Obama was lucky when he was a community organizer and WORKED (NOT married) his way into local Chicago politics. He was also lucky to have the ability to inspire ALL of America and make us color blind, gender blind, and age blind. He was lucky to get 70% of the vote when he won his Senate seat. And he was lucky to win in Iowa, a lily-white state.
If Obama were 100% white, instead of just 50% white, he would have won New Hampshire as well. He would have won MUCH more of the male white vote than he's won already. He'd be carrying MUCH, MUCH more of the south than he is now, splitting the AA vote, winning MUCH more men, and he would get a much larger portion of the Hispanic vote (I'm a Cuban American and I'm aware of the bias of prior generations and where it has filtered down to the some ignorant folks of the current generation).
If Obama were white, this race would be MORE over than it is now.
Now that I'm calming down, I look forward to volunteering in PA and NC and WV. It's great to see another state for BO and a nice margin to boot but I'm SO disappointed to see this race become a vote about race (!). PA becomes more difficult, IMO, with every turn of the screw.
Obama needs to pull out his "appeal to women" stump speech - the single mom, the grandmother caretaker, walking in the shoes of the home care worker - he should do that again for both men and women in PA, talking about his equal pay plan for women, expanding the Family Medical Leave Act, getting sick days for women, etc.
He needs to go for Hillary's largest base. In economic markets, the most valuable segment will be the largest monopoly. It is easiest to pull a few points off the large group than anything else. Going for the women and the seniors, he'll have his largest success.
BO needs to develop a stump speech to attract these groups. If he does that, holds on to the "urban" and University vote, we have a formula for winning PA.
