Detroit’s Natives of the New Dawn Release a Cover of The Temptations’ “Ball of Confusion (That’s What The World Is Today)” for Digital Download to Help Support the Obama Presidential CampaignLos Angeles, CA - In the midst of what may be one of the most important and talked about presidential elections in decades, Detroit’s Natives of the New Dawn have found inspiration in the words of their musical ancestors, The Temptations. The band has released a cover of their 1970 hit “Ball of Confusion (That’s What the World is Today)” for digital download and is contributing a portion of their proceeds to the Obama campaign.Utilizing the technological advancements to virally market and release music today, Natives have set up several discounted gift packs that feature a digital download of the cover accompanied by various other Natives items such as a special limited edition autographed poster, tee shirts, and CD’s via their online store found at http://www.nimbitmusic.com/nativesofthenewdawn.1. The store, which also serves as an online store widget, allows fans who want to further help support the Natives’ Obama support campaign to copy the code, paste it in their own website or myspace page and pass it along to friends. An alternative page where you can find these gift packs is on their CDfreedom store page at http://www.cdfreedom.com/artists/nativesofthenewdawn.1/. According to front man Vince Mann, the band learned the song Prior to this past summer’s DIY tour that included 8 stops on the Van’s Warped Tour, and performed the song every day on tour in an effort to relay the relevance of that message with the state of the world and politics today. “The song is a natural fit,” says Mann, “it’s almost eerie how relevant that message still is today. If people have never heard the original, they may assume that we wrote it last week. Apparently not much has changed since then! Politicians are still corrupt, and gas prices are still at an all time high!”The lyric “and the band played on” also hits very close to home says guitarist Joe Fikany. “As an independent touring band growing up amongst middle class families in the midwest, and Detroit none the less, I think we relate very closely with the hardships of middle America, political corruption, and economic hardships. Gas prices and our countries economic instability hasn’t made it any easier for a band like us to keep on going out on the road either. But hey, we love it, and the band played on… Everyone is being affected by this stuff, that’s why we feel it’s very important to contribute to the effort of change in any way you can.”Upon completion of their tour, Natives decided to dig in their pockets, hop in the studio and record the track to further help support and spread the need for change in American politics and government, and help out the best way they no how; through music. If you would like to contribute to Natives effort, the band asks that you visit them online at www.myspace.com/nativesofthenewdawn, make a contribution and tell a friend. “
