Washington Volunteers Hit the Pavement

Saturday was a big canvassing day all across the state. Volunteers met to receive canvassing packets from their field organizers and head out to spread the word about next Saturday's caucus.

Bellevue was packed with 150 precinct captains and other volunteers ready to get the caucus out in the Eastside.

Seattle's 43rd Legislative District had an even bigger crowd, as over 200 eager Seattlites prepared to brave cold weather and gray skies in neighborhoods all across the city.

Despite these big numbers, there are still many precincts we haven't been able to walk yet--possibly including yours! Call our Seattle Office today to volunteer or sign up as a precinct captain: (206) 529-3859.

If things are working right you should be able to type in your zip code within the EVENTS tab and get some listings. I know I saw Nebraska on Thursday, so hopefully heading your way, unless Washington is in need of him that day, he can't miss all votes unfortunately, I think he has done remarkable handling his job for my state and running for President

Hello Washington....
Welcome aboard the Obama campaign express..
I have supported Barack well before Feb. 2007, because as my Senator from Illinois he impressed me with his work, his office team, his abilities and his sincerity. Barack is modest sometimes and might tell you it is about a movement and all of us, but really we could not go anywhere without someone like him willing to stand up for us. We must embrace.

As I worked at poll stations on Super Tuesday in New York, one thing became painfully clear. There are a lot of uneducated voters. I know we hear about this, but to see it up close it was ubelievable. One guy came up to me and asked if Barack was Republican or Democrat. And plenty of people were walking into the poles to vote and were undecided as they were walking in. Some believe Obama did not have a platform or any policies for the country. People said he wants change but he never says how he's going to bring about change.

IT IS UP TO US AS VOLUNTEERS TO BE FULLY EDUCATED ABOUT BOTH SIDES POLICIES AND HIGHLIGHT THE DIFFERENCE TO VOTERS. For instance, for every voter that I asked whose health plan they liked better some said Hillary Clinton because she is providing Universal Health care. When I told the voters the Barack is also providing Universal health care without the gov't mandate to BUY YOUR OWN INSURANCE and without garnishing wages or penalties for failure to buy health insurance, people's opinions changed. In other words, due to Clinton's phrasing on the campaign trail, people believe that they were going to be given health insurance for free, instead of having to buy it themselves. It is these subtle, but BIG differences that can persuade voters. Remember educate yourself then educate the community.

1) Go door to door and/or engage people in conversation about the issues
2) Handout Literature that are BOTH inspirational, but persuasively informative about the issues
3)Slide notes under every door in apt complexes
4)Tell everyonoe how Barack is going to bring about change
5) Do what you can to spread his message and policies b/c Majority of Voters are Lazy and DO NOT: read the papers, watch debates, go to websites, or listen to radio.

Make this a fair race not one of name recognition alone!
