Look at this:
The race to the 2008 presidency is already heating up, and Gather's getting involved. We're launching a nationwide search for six politically passionate bloggers to cover the election as The People's Press Corps, and report into the new Election '08 group on Gather.
These six bloggers will become Gather.com's first official media representatives for Election '08, with insider access to campaigns, experts and events. This is an unprecedented opportunity to become part of the new media press corps!
Blogger hopefuls should submit their articles and/or videos on an election topic of their choice by following the directions below. Entries must be on a topic relating to the 2008 presidential race (but not offering candidate support). Then it's up to the Gather community to vote to narrow the pool to 30 finalists (10 Democrats, 10 Republicans, 10 Independents), with the final six chosen by the Gather's Editorial Team.
Should YOU be part of The People's Press Corps? This is your opportunity to be heard! Even if you're not in the running to be an Election 2008 blogger, you can still get involved. Who do you want to be your political representative on Gather in Election '08? Help elect the People's Press by voting on each entry!
How It Works:
To enter The People's Press: Gather.com's Election 2008 Blogger Search, you must first be a member of Gather.com and the Election 2008 group on Gather. Join now - it's free! >>
After you've completed the group registration, publish your political blog and/or video by following these easy steps (multiple entries are allowed):
Click on the Publish tab at the top of any Gather page
Select Publish an Article or Publish a Video
Draft your essay (500 words or less) or upload your video (3 minutes or less in length) relating to the 2008 presidential race
In the Tag field, you must include "democrat," "republican," or "independent"
In the Who can view my article field, select "Everyone" and also the "Election 2008" group
Click Save
All entries must be received by 11:59pm ET on Wednesday, October 10, 2007. Voting to select the 30 finalists will take place between Wednesday, September 5 and Wednesday, October 17, 2007. The 30 finalists will be announced on Gather.com on Friday, October 19, 2007. The winning 6 bloggers will be announced on Wednesday, October 24, 2007.
