My bones are weary but my heart is soaring this night, when we achieved the beginning of our dreams. It has been a long, hard road, and the one before us won’t be any easier. But I know change is coming to America. I have seen it, in each one of you, and in each one of my phenomenal volunteers who helped make sure Iowa had Barack’s back. And we will continue to have his back as we go forward. Because this election isn’t about him, it’s about us, and what we want for this country. And today we declared it with a resounding roar.
I’m too exhausted, too exhilarated, and still in a bit too much of a daze to be very coherent. But I wanted to give some special shout outs. A year ago, I came to this blog, already a precinct captain, but still a novice in the beauty that the blog could bring. Maryt, you were my first inspiration on this blog. Dan, Leila, and meta, you built that inspiration even more. Nancy, Tamsin, EM, and Joy, you have been my rocks. And then came Christine, and the blog was even better than before. Rick, Sharon, Marcus, Strong Heart, Jedi Master Matt, you lifted me up from even before the caucuses, and you truly have been gifts that keep on giving.
Curious, thanks for representing the best of Hillary supporters who were Barack curious. Lace and Lulu, your energies are unmatched—except maybe by Joe Ruwe. Diana, Val, Cee, Tracy and your whole family in Ct plus your super twin in DC, Kevin Winterfield—each day of this journey I have been stronger because of you. I have been more informed, more engaged, and more entertained. And Sarah, deep, deep thanks for the cookies. They gave incredible delight to my canvassers today, as well as to my boys. And Carey, your efforts in KY have inspired me beyond what you will ever know. In 2012, we will see it a beautiful Barack blue.
Apologies to those I haven’t mentioned; each one of you has been crucial to our success, and I am profoundly grateful for it.
Today we shouted to history and the world, Yes we can. Yes we did. And yes we will.
Thank you for making this possible. See you on January 20.

Maeve, that was a very nice post. I have yet to gain enough control over my emotions to post anything that makes much sense.
I might have to use my newfound love of video-making to fully express everything that Obama and this campaign have meant to me.

Maeve and all,
Words cannot express how I feel about President Obama's winning the nomination. I remember a year ago coming to this site. In the midst of the anxiety of the primaries, when many people were doubting Obama. I "met" a group of wonderful who I never saw, but I was so proud to know. I will never forget you all. You are such an amazing bunch. We now move forward as a better nation, under a better leader.
Thank you particularily Maeve, for continuously making my day with your many RANDOM donations to my FR. ;-)
What an experience this was for me.
I love you all.

I had not teared up for a couple of hours but now I am grabbing the tissues!
I spent today absorbing the emotions of this and reflecting on this incredible journey.
I was so utterly devastated when Bush was re elected in 2004. I was angry at my fellow Americans. I had lost hope. I had mentally divided the country up into red states and blue states and boy was I mad at those red states!
Then came the Obama campaign. I joined this community because I wanted to be more supportive of Obama. Suddenly I found myself connecting with people all across the country.... Kentucky, North & South Carolina, Virginia, Iowa, California, Arizona and on and on and on....
All at once those preconceived notions of mine started falling away. The red and the blue that I had assigned to each state no longer rang true.
This campaign, Obama and all of you have changed my life for the better. I thank you for that. I take great comfort in knowing I have friends all across the United States of America.
I look forward to working with you all again in 2012 for the re election campaign!!!
Love, Tracy in CT
p.s. One last shout out to Iowa for getting this change train rolling!!!!

Thank you for expressing what I am too spent to even attempt. For months I was visiting the website to watch speeches and to read about the policy proposals.
The night of the Jefferson Jackson Dinner I finally clicked on the comments section under the blog post (can you believe what a novice I was?!) and discovered this wonderful community full of inspiration, wisdom, laughter, encouragement, and friendship. You are all like family to me.
I am so grateful for each of you. You have changed my life.
And if you are ever in Maine, my door is always wide open to you.
Your fellow Iowan thanks you |

Maeve, you and I are forever connected! It's not just because we helped turn Iowa BLUE but because our paths crossed at a particular moment in December, 2007: when I snapped that photo of Hunter and Barack! You know, the one that made it as a graphic on your family sweatshirts! :-)
I am hopeful that we will continue to stay connected as you and I are truly neighbors and not just blog neighbors. We met on the blog only to learn that we live blocks away from each other. It can be said that Barack brought us together, and for that I am grateful.
What an amazing journey we all have been on, it's been such a pleasure sharing it with you, Maeve, and with everyone who joined together because we had and continue to have HOPE.
Warmest regards,
Joy

Maeve:
You and Iowa will always hold a special place in my heart. While I've never been to your State, I feel as if I am a part of it because of the mission that we faced together in the weeks and months leading up to the Iowa Caucus. You, and MaryT, and Laura Hubka, and all of the great Iowan bloggers allowed the rest of us to feel that we were right there with you. I even exchanged cards with a woman that I had never met named Gerri, because NPR did a story about a contact that she had with Barack about her critically ill brother who had no health insurance. My brother had a similiar experience, and her story made me want to reach out to her. This is what Barack Obama inspires in us.
I've written in my blog that I would trust Iowa to select our president. You are all so amazingly bright and well informed and caring. I remember a blogger offering her family home and car to anyone who would come there to volunteer in the days leading up to the caucus.
I have loved my exchanges with so many blogger friends and I will always remember this amazing journey. It was made better by you, Maeve and everyone who came along for the ride.
I hope that we will all find a way to keep in touch from time to time. I am honored to have shared this with all of you.
With peace & love |

My bones are weary too. I just crawled out of bed to check email and found your lovely blog.
The emotions are too big to put into words. I am in awe at how much my own life has changed since this journey began. One year ago the thought of knocking on doors terrified me and today I sit with bruised and swollen knuckles after our aggressive GOTV effort. (Special note - doorbell repair business in the city of Milwaukee is greatly needed!!!)
I have also been inspired and informed by such a wide base of brilliant minds from coast to coast - all connected through MYBO. I am quite certain President Obama will not let this network sit idle until 2012. He will likely continue to engage us in helping better this country and climb the steep hill before us.
Change happened because of US.
Thanks! |

Bringing the Government back to the People~ or "Curious in NC"

Maeve,
I can't believe you remembered little old me. I haven't been coming to the blog here much at all in the last few months or more. I have of course been rooting for Barack and countering all the ignorant statements in my rural western region of NC. We weren't able to pull a win for Obama in my county but believe it or not (even though it hasnt been announced) I am proud to say Obama won my state!! It may have only been by about a half a per cent.. but he won! First time in my memorable history that NC turned Blue!!
I am very proud that you feel I represented the best of the Hillary supporters. By the way, you all may be happy to know that by the end of it all I was able to convince all of my Hillary supporting family and friends to vote for Obama. We all fought the fight together and we all won last night!!
Thank you Maeve |

I haven't found the words to express what we are all feeling today - tears rolling again as I read your post. Thanks for articulating the joy in our hearts and for everything you have done, the tireless amazing efforts of you and all the great folks out in Iowa where it all began!
Peace and Hope,

Awwwww, Maeve!
Thanks for remembering me!
I know I haven't been around as much for the past few months, but you and the rest of my Obama family are always in my heart.
The past year has been such a special experience for me.
I would love to see you at the inauguration to see President Obama (God, that sounds so good), but the hotel rooms are booking up and they're so expensive. I wish I knew someone in D.C. because all I would need is a couch!
Thank you, everyone, for everything.
Love you all.
Leila
