In last week’s VP debate, the vice presidential candidates spent a good amount of time talking about energy.
But despite lots of big talk, John McCain has
repeatedly voted against alternative energy proposals
that would not only help our environment, but would have put money in taxpayers wallets by giving tax incentives for fuel efficient cars, and increased fuel economy standards so you pay less at the pump. McCain voted against critical support for renewable energy sources and voted against encouraging oil companies to explore alternative energy technology. You can learn more about McCain’s record on energy at
JohnMcCainRecord.com
.
Our nation’s energy policy will have a massive impact on climate change and the environment, but also on economics and even foreign policy.
Barack Obama and Joe Biden proposed a comprehensive plan to halt America’s dependence on foreign oil while helping our environment. The Obama-Biden plan will cap greenhouse emissions by 80 percent, increase fuel economy standards, and put more than one million hybrid vehicles on the road by 2015.
Barack Obama and Joe Biden will create a new
energy
infrastructure, investing in new clean, technologies like wind, solar, and biofuels. By expanding our infrastructure, the Obama-Biden energy plan also bolsters our economy by creating 5 million new skilled, “green” jobs.

Obama-Biden energy plan

Arthur...McCain has ran a very dishonorable campaign:one that has forever changed Americans opinion of him.
Oct 7th 2008 at 2:08 pm EDT (Updated Oct 7th 2008 at 2:08 pm EDT)
We often hear John McCain use the expression “My friends” While dangling the pork chop of becoming a vice president in front of his pit bull with lipstick (Sarah Palin).
A true friend would not subject you to harm and that is what he has done by irresponsibly choosing Sarah Palin as a running mate. The manner in which John McCain has elected to conduct himself is shameful and increasingly threatening to the future leader of America. He has erred in judgment by making false claims against Obama; in effort to make gains in support for has floundering campaign. Specifically making accusations that Obama is somehow linked to terrorist. Considering how emotionally scared Americans are, due to terrorist actions, it is not wise to torment the nation by painting a citizen as such; especially one who has served this nation as faithfully and honorably as Barack Obama has. The fact that John McCain, many others and myself have served in the military is honorable but not worthy enough to suggest that our service alone qualifies us to lead beyond a military capacity. It inflames me to see a veteran use this as a crutch to maneuver into a position, which they are not suited, as John McCain has, because the empathy and wisdom that America desperately needs is being undermined by his mere aspirations to be president. Barack Obama is the only candidate with a true agenda to improve America for every American and this is why his lead is growing and will continue to grow as Americans realize that they can no longer stomach the pain of hate and deceit which distracts it from being United in all States of this America. Let’s now move forward and unanimously elect the best person for the job of President and send a clear sign to the world that we are not asleep at this pivotal moment in our history.

If Obama had real ties to any of this, then it may have made some noise. But since at this posting, the Dow is down 300pts, and overseas markets are diving too; no one cares who Obama's neighbor is. And since the Rezko thing was well hashed in the primaries, people know that an actual investigation proved Obama had no business ties with Rezko.
McCain can lie all he wants, because then he looks like a liar.
I just had a robo call from E. Dole in NC. It was how hard she had worked and how the liberals like Chuck Schumer of NY were in NC trying to fight against her.

A federal investigation is being opened into the actions and comments of Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott at a rally for Gov. Sarah Palin in Estero on Monday.
Erica S. Hamrick, senior attorney at the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, wrote in to complainant Carl Spackler that due to his complaint, her office will be investigating under the Hatch Act, which governs political activities of certain elected officials.
The complainant stated the sheriff violated that act because the sheriff’s office receives federal money, engaged in political activity while on duty, engaged in political activity while in uniform, wore political buttons while on duty and used political influence or authority to interfere with an election.
The U.S. Office of Special Counsel addresses the Hatch Act as it pertains to local officials on their Web site, which states the following:
“The Hatch Act applies to executive branch state and local employees who are principally employed in connection with programs financed in whole or in part by loans or grants made by the United States or a federal agency. Employees who work for educational or research institutions which are supported in whole or in part by a State or political subdivision of the State are not covered by the provisions of the Hatch Act.
“Employees of private nonprofit organizations are covered by the Hatch Act only if the statute through which the organization receives its federal funds contains language which states that the organization shall be considered to be a state or local agency for purposes of the Hatch Act, e.g., Headstart and Community Service Block Grant statutes.
“An employee’s conduct is also subject to the laws of the state and the regulations of the employing agency. Additionally, employees should be aware that the prohibitions of the Hatch Act are not affected by state or local laws.”
Neither Hamrick nor her office could be immediately reached for comment.

Obama Family,
I am now officially scared for Barack. I can't believe what I heard from the crowd at both McCain/Palin rallies yesterday. At one, someone screamed "kill him" (referring to Barack) and then later when Palin said Barack Obama, someone screamed "terrorist". Neither McCain or Palin, stopped and said NO to this behavior. And in both newscasts I saw, you see they heard these "nuts" and their rants.
I just wrote Rachel asking that she call the McCain/Palin out on their ignoring these nuts at their rallies.
McCain and Palin are letting a very dangerous genie out of the bottle by alluding that somehow Barack is "mysterious", as is his "associates".
I am begging you all. Write the media and demand that McCain/Palin be called out on their campaigns despicable tactics. The McCain/Palin campaign is endangering Barack Obama.
Speak up and demand that McCain/Palin's immoral behavior stop what they are doing.

Pennsylvania Whites Switch Horses, and Suddenly Obama is 15 Furlongs Ahead: In an election for President of the United States in Pennsylvania today, 10/07/08, four weeks to the vote, Democrat Barack Obama defeats Republican John McCain 55% to 40%, according to a SurveyUSA tracking poll conducted exclusively for WCAU-TV Philadelphia, KDKA-TV Pittsburgh, WNEP-TV Scranton, WHTM-TV Harrisburg, and WJAC-TV Johnstown. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll released twelve days ago, Obama is up 5 points; McCain is down 4.
Among white voters, who make-up 87% of PA's electorate, Obama had trailed by 3, now leads by 4 -- a 7-point swing to the Democrat, which, when combined with Obama's now 24:1 advantage among black voters, puts Obama in prime position to capture the 21 Keystone Electoral Votes as the two candidates head for home.
Obama today leads among PA men and women, young and old, rich and poor, more educated and less educated. McCain leads among Republicans, conservatives, pro-life voters, and gun owners. 21% of Republicans cross over to vote for Obama; 16% of Democrats cross over to vote for McCain. Independents break 2:1 for Obama.
Obama leads 2:1 in the Philadelphia area, leads by 10 points in the Scranton area, and nominally in the Pittsburgh area. McCain leads by double digits in Harrisburg and ties Obama in Johnstown.

MCCAIN AND PALIN SHOULD BE CHARGED WITH PUBLIC INCITEMENT
In some European countries (Britain for one) McCain and Palin would be charged with public incitement for calling Obama a terrorist or implying that he is one, that “he is not one of us” and suggestively using his middle name to imply that he is an Arab terrorist in disguise. A sheriff in uniform (shockingly) made this shameful speech calling Obama’s middle name for effect—making it seem like a state-sponsored action (NOTE: Florida Governor and Joe Sen. Lieberman were watching approvingly). During Palin’s public addresses in California and Florida someone in the crowd shouted that Obama is a “terrorist” and in Florida one person raised the issue of assassination. The shout rang out: “Kill him.” What better proof than this that McCain and Palin are inciting the crowd to harm Obama? The Secret Service and the Justice Department should take such public speeches more seriously. The question now is: Who is the real John McCain? Remember that McCain was a Board member of an extremist organization (Singlaub’s US Council for World Freedom) that provided a forum for anti-Semites, racists and supported terrorist ultra-right wing death squads in Nicaragua and other Latin American countries. Secondly, why is McCain so angry—especially against Obama? There are so many who would hold McCain and rifle-packing Joe Six Pack responsible should anything ever happen to Obama! Clearly, this is McCain-Palin idea of change—cultural division, hatred, and conflict, anger and total avoidance of what really matters to the people like health care, economic prosperity, security at home, and popular leadership of the US abroad.

Over the last few weeks, we've built a network of people in battleground states (CO, FL, IN, MO, NC, NV, OH, PA, VA, OR) who submit our articles and letters to the editor to local newspapers. Now we urgently need more volunteers in these states, especially VA, PA, OH and FL.
All we are asking is a few minutes to email letters (with modifications if you wish) to newspapers in your state. They are well researched and written by professional writers and we’ll give you easy-to-follow instructions on how to use them.

Palin pledges of Alaska sunshine marred by secrets
By RITA BEAMISH, Associated Press Writer
Sarah Palin's promise for a new era of government openness as the reform governor of Alaska started to crack even before Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign built a wall of protectiveness around her.
...
her administration has claimed broad exceptions to Alaska's freedom of information rules to keep government e-mails secret, and it's shown reluctance to disclose documents about sensitive topics, ranging from polar bears to policy issues. And her state's online checkbook is limited in its detail.
Disclosures about private e-mail accounts used by Palin and her top aides have raised questions about whether they were trying to evade disclosure under the state's public records law. Her aides have denied this.
...
Palin is dogged by accusations of stonewalling in a home-state investigation into whether she pressured officials to fire her former brother-in-law, a state trooper. After initially promising to cooperate, Palin challenged the lawmakers' impartiality. The results of that investigation are expected to be made public as early as Friday.
"As soon as the heat comes on, the openness and transparency goes away," said Anchorage Daily News editorial page editor Matt Zencey.

Just out:
+6 (49-43) OH PPP poll:
Link
3 weeks ago Obama was down 4 in OH
There was also another OH poll yesterday with Obama up by 6 (Democracy Corps) that slipped through the cracks. Overall we are up 4 pts from last 8 OH polls:
Link
Also +7 in Nevada-Gazette poll out earlier (50-43)
In a poll that hasn't been officially released, there is another PA poll (NPR/West Chester U.) with Obama up by 10 (52-42) I don't have the link anymore.
The NPR poll will BRING DOWN the 11 pt. average lead at RCP in PA (LOL)
I think we should move some force from PA to OHIO now that Registration deadline has passed. Any rallies by the Clinton's or Biden in PA should be moved to OH IMO. Thoughts?
Today's Gallup was surprising again (+9) A new record. This confirms that yesterdays attacks probably didn't hurt Obama.
I just wish that the stock market would level off and save its down days for another 3 weeks. I want a country left for Obama to govern.

Has anyone in the media realized that Palin has probably enraged Democrats to give at least $30 million more for Obama and has United the Democratic party, including those over 65?
I suspect the campaign will release September numbers if it needs a boost. My guess is 75 million.

At the start of this election cycle I was going to vote for Obama, but as I researched I became unhappy. You run down McCain and Pailin and most people blindly believe you. I have researched all voting records and have come to a conclusion. That conclusion is that the best team would be McCain- Biden. They at least take a stand on issues. Now I realize that this is probably not going to make it on to the comment section of this blog; but someone is going to have to read it. No Vote or Present is not good enough to lead this country. I think that you should be honest with the people who plan to vote for you and show themyour voting record. A lot of the people who like you might get upset and see that you don't "Practice what you preach".

You're being far from honest when you say you "researched" anything.
For one thing, you would know what a "present" vote really means in the Illinois legislature. You wouldn't simply being spewing repub talking points
And well, your touting of McCain is simply mind boggling. His actions in the past few weeks since the economic melt down are frightening.
Now Joe Biden is great on any ticket.
So, my advice to you is actually read unbiased information, especially the rules of the Illinois state legislature. Read McCain's actual voting record and not what he says it is. Wow, you must have used the same reading material as Palin

Voting records in the Senate are complicated undertakings, particularly when a vote of Present is a tactic to elicit more information at the table.
Senator Obama has been consistent in his political demeanor over his public life. The team of Obama-Biden is the best to come along in a very long time.
Despite his penchant for 'straight talk', I wouldnt trust McCain as far as I could throw him. He has voted BUSH 90% of the time. No thanks.

Or better yet walk up to everyone you know and ask "Have you voted yet?" (If you're in a state that has early voting).
If not tell them where they can (give them the address) and all of the reasons to do so (no long lines, avoid risking something happening on election day that keeps you from voting, if you vote early you also make lines shorter for those that aren't and keep ppl from having to leave before voting).
This is one way to up our turnout. It's easy and doesn't require you talking to ppl you don't know.
I've gotten many coworkers to register and/or early vote this way. I still know who hasn't voted yet and will continue to ask them until they have indeed cast their ballot for Obama.

I would like to share my story as a community organizer this past weekend. The last time I went out to knock doors in Northern Virginia, I was dispatched to a neighborhood that was hard to crack. Even though I did not register anybody on that day, I felt that I had still played a role in giving an Obama/Biden Touch. It was good public relations.
Being the last weekend prior to the registration deadline, I had to knock doors. As usual, I arrived to a packed office of beaming and willing Obama/Biden supporters.
This time around, the ground on the neighborhood was soft, hopeful and inspiring! There were more Obama/Biden supporters! On seeing my Obama T-shirt, two of McCain supporters did not want anything to do with me. The doors were quickly closed! Two were open minded to listen to me. Their reason for supporting McCain:I am in the Military. My response: I kindly request you to conduct further research on McCains record with the veterans! After our discussions, one said to me: As a republican, I may actually vote for Obama because of the need for checks and balances, transparency and accountability. Republicans have been in office for eight years!; I agreed and used the same message for my talking points
After firing up and being fired up by my neighbors (yes, many admired the fact that I was in action knocking doors). I returned to my car and headed back to the office after a successful operation! But not yet. On my way, I stopped in a bus stop and asked if everyone was registered to vote. One person signed up! Finally, it was time to head back to the office and what do I meet: a beehive of Obama/Biden army of community organizers fired up and ready to knock those doors on the evening shift.
Please donate:

Side Note: If McCain brings up the experience issue, Barack should respond by stating that: If experience means deregulation, I do need that kind of poor judgment experience that will send us to a recession or on poor judgment that send us to a war in Iraq.

I've very happy we are doing well right now but am still very concerned about the prospects of the GOP rigging this election. If anything the past week has taught us (comments made in Palin rallies...) is that extreme right conservatives most likely have a mental disorder. To call them anything less than bigots is an understatement. These people's radical views are fanned by propaganda spread by the CEO's of big corporations wanting to maintain their hold on corrupt politicians. These people don't give a rats ass about democracy and will do anything to win including hacking into electronic voting machines. If there is any evidence whatsoever of election tampering I say we march and bring the Big Oil corporations (Exxon/Mobil and Shell) to their knees. Boycotting their products would be a good technique. We could only buy BP. We have the organizational capacity to do this effectively. For the life of me I can't figure out why we don't have a national standard for how ballots are submitted. These ballots should be paper, fill in the bubble and counted by hand. Oh wait I know why they don't want a national voting standard....its so they can keep rigging elections.

I'll send this to HQ but I thought I'd post it here. Apparently there has been a slight change to the voting ballots here in NC that is very important!
THOSE THAT SELECT A "STRAIGHT-TICKET" VOTE WILL NOT BE VOTING FOR PRESIDENT. THEY HAVE TO DO THAT SEPARATELY.
I don't know how many people know about this but it was in the Charlotte Observer today. In elections past when you chose a "straight ticket" it automatically picked the presidential candidate based upon the ticket you chose. This year, it's different, and those voting "straight tickets" have to register a separate vote for their presidential choice.
Anyone in North Carolina - PLEASE get the word out on this! The voters need to be informed of this change.
And if you ask me, this sort of change stinks of very subversive VOTER FRAUD!!!

Does the ballot explicitly say that? If it doesn't, there's definitely grounds for challenge, as a "straight ticket" would mean all candidates from a given Party, emphatically including President!
When I voted for Barack almost 2 weeks ago, I was surprised to see the straight ticket option. IL doesn't allow that. I wonder how many states still have that option?

Voter Registration Ends For November Elections
Tuesday, October 7, 2008 1:17 AM
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Voter registration for next month's general election ended Monday night and with it, the opportunity to register and immediately cast an early ballot.
Workers with the Franklin County Board of Elections were busy Monday night sorting registration forms and absentee ballot requests, 10TV's Lindsey Seavert reported.
Nearly 1,800 new voter registrations were completed at Veterans Memorial, the county's designated location for early voting, since the voting site opened Sept. 30, according to the Franklin County Board of Elections.
Roughly 1,800 other registration records were updated, and a total of more than 9,000 voters took advantage of casting their ballots early at Veterans Memorial during the past week.
Already nearly 175,000 voters have requested mail-in absentee ballots, and board of elections spokesman Ben Piscitelli was encouraging more voters to do so.
"The one way you can guarantee you won't stand in line to vote is to vote absentee by mail," Piscitelli said. "I did, and I work here (at the board of elections)."
Franklin County's board of elections will accept absentee-ballot requests until noon on Nov. 1. Voted ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 3 if returned by mail, or they can be dropped off at the board of elections office at 280 E. Broad St. before 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 4.
Early voting for those who have already registered will continue daily through Nov. 3 at Veterans Memorial from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.

The train has left the station, the media will get on board, and there is a real potential for this type of crap to have a serious impact on the outcome in less than thirty days, unless ...
UNLESS Barack Obama confronts this crap head on and in person, and makes McCain own up to this type of character assasination. Senator McCain has said numerous times that he intends to run an "respectful" campaign, his wife Cindy went on the Today Show and said that there will be no negative campaigning from their side. Well, we know that's out the window, and it will continue no matter what happens.
But Barack Obama has the opportunity to call Senator McCain out at this debate and if he doesn't, he will put his historic campaign at risk.
American's want to know that the person they are voting for will fight for what they believe in, and if you can't defend your honor it's hard to believe you will fight hard for anything else.
He did it once for his wife, and he needs to come out swinging for himself!

Looking good. I know that a large percentage of early voters have been dems. As for absentee ballots, I know our union was registering employees at every store and getting them signed up to vote by absentee ballot. All of our 18 & 19 year old baggers (I work at a grocery store) are registered to vote this time as well. I can't say who everyone is voting for but, most will be for Obama. In my deli/ bakery department every person (including 4 first time voters) are registered and only one is voting for McCain. Most have either early voted already or are sending in their absentee ballot.

I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.
Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a We Deserve It Dividend.
To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000
bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.
Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..
So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals $425,000.00.
My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a
We Deserve It Dividend.
Of course, it would NOT be tax free.
So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.
Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.
That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.
But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.
A husband and wife has $595,000.00.
What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?
Pay off your mortgage housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans what a great boost to new grads
Put away money for college it'll be there
Save in a bank create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car create jobs
Invest in the market capital drives growth
Pay for your parent's medical insurance health care
Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean or else
Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.
If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of trickling out
a puny $1000.00 ( 'vote buy' ) economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President.
If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!
As for AIG liquidate it.
Sell off its parts.
Let American General go back to being American General.
Sell off the real estate.
Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.
Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.
Sure it's a crazy idea that can 'never work.'
How do you spell Economic Boom?
And remember, The plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned
instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.
A very sobering thought on how to best use $85 Billion!!

Negative, negative, negative. There are choices in the poll that would indicate not only your disagreement with what Scott did, but your complete outrage. The very first choice in the poll is "Sheriff Mike Scott should be locked up". I'd say that anyone that thinks the Sheriff should go to jail for his comments is NOT in agreement with him.
Another choice in the poll is that the Sheriff made it worse by making the comments while in uniform. Many people believe that the big issue with this case is that the Sheriff was wearing his uniform when he made the comments.
I think the poll fairly represents a wide range of beliefs. I chose the "locked up" answer, although I don't think the guy belongs in jail. Like most polls, the choices are extreme.

John McCain in 2000 said because of tactical decisions U.S. troops were put in the position of killing civilians in Kosovo -- something awfully similar to the comments he's now attacking Barack Obama for.
During a Republican primary debate in 2000 McCain called the Clinton strategy in Kosovo "obscene" because it forced troops into using tactics that meant civilians were going to get killed.
"In the most obscene chapter in recent American history is the conduct of the Kosovo conflict when the president of the United States refused to prepare for ground operations, refused to have air power used effectively because he wanted them flying -- he had them flying at 15,000 feet where they killed innocent civilians because they were dropping bombs from such -- in high altitude."

Palin is a dirty politician, and McNasty is just that and more. I am so disgusted by the Palin/McCain ticket. How could anyone believe that a sitting US Senator should be killed or be called a terrorist. I can't believe it, and I hope the Secret Service will continue doing a good job to protect BO. McCain let a audience member call Sen. Clinton a B, let them call Sen. O a terrorist and yell death threats. McCain has no class at all.
I am not watching tonights debate because my vote is for BO not matter what. I have drawn the line and have my fit planted firmly like Biden said. My husband is watching tonight, for entertainment purposes (to watch McNasty blow a gasket). Are any of you turned off by this dirty politics that McCain is running, like I am?

McCain is disgusting. Especially when he opens up his wrinkled mouth and sticks his old man tung out through his yellow teeth whenever he pauses between sentences.
Has anyone else noticed that?
It's like he can't help but show himself to be the slime spitting reptile that he truly is inside.
Here's a debate drinking game challenge... drink every time McCain appears to be slurping down an invisible fly with his lizard/snake like tung. You will be wasted by the end of the debate.
To also add to McCain's disgusting-ness, his navy buddies have joked about his affinity for Asian women. Not that there is anything wrong with Asian women, its just that guys who have affinities for Asian women are usually creeps. There are beautiful people of every race on this planet, and Asian women are no exception, but those guys who marry mail order brides and take solo vacations to Thailand and Vietnam are usually not the types of guys you want your daughter to hang around. Am I wrong?

Despite voting dozens of times against alternative forms of energy, John McCain claims to champion alternative forms of energy.
John McCain has done nothing but stand up for big oil companies his entire career, so how is it that he is saying that he will stand up to them?
Sarah Palin won't even admit that global warming is caused by human activity. She ignores scientific evidence that the rest of world has accepted...even Bush
If elected Obama will lead the world in exploring and implementing alternative forms of energy, like he's been saying he would do his entire campaign. He has a plan to ween us off of foreign oil, not just prolong the addiction.
If elected John McCain would continue to let big oil companies control our domestic and foreign policy just like Bush has done. That is why you see John McCain inject a plug for expanding oil company's ability to expand their drilling zone permits in every speech he gives, even though domestic oil companies are no where close to exhausting the resources we have.
Not to mention that the US uses 25% of the world's oil and only has 3%. Like oil baron T.Boon Pickens says himself, "we can't drill our way out of this one"
John McCain is a corporate puppet just like Bush, and that is why the two of them have nothing to run on other than smear tactics.
John McCain has given up everything he's claimed to believe in in order to stay competitive in this race. He's angered members of parties on both sides of the isle in order to pander to one special interest after another. We need to make sure that the old ways of running Washington are not allowed to continue.

Just hours before the start of the second presidential debate, a new national survey suggests that Sen. Barack Obama is making gains among Americans as a compassionate candidate.
A new poll out Tuesday shows Sen. Barack Obama as a more compassionate politician.
That could be important in the debate in Nashville, which is a town hall-style meeting with the candidates fielding questions from undecided voters in the audience.
In a new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll out Tuesday afternoon, 55 percent of registered voters questioned say that Obama "cares more about people like you" than Sen. John McCain, with 35 percent saying McCain cares more than Obama. That 20-point margin for Obama is up from a 9-point advantage a month ago.

NASHVILLE --
Robert Gibbs, wandering the media filing tent, described McCain as "generally very cranky" these days. Then he asked: "Which John McCain are we going to get tonight? Are we going to get the guy who yells at the kids to get off his lawn?"
"He looks angry and desperate, so I assume we'll get angry and desperate," Gibbs said, adding that if he wants to go negative -- presumably more difficult in the town hall setting, in front of several dozen undecided and soft-leaning voters -- Obama is ready to match him. "If people want to get down in the mud, we're prepared to get dirty," he said.

In recent days, the McCain campaign has been taking Sen. Obama's remarks out of context. For example, during the recent VP debate, Palin claimed, “Obama has said that all we’re doing in Afghanistan is ‘air raiding villages’ and ‘killing civilians.’” She called said his comment was “reckless” and “hurts our cause.”
But as the Washington Times reports today, McCain himself made virtually identical remarks about the U.S. military during his 2000 presidential bid.

This debate is the most important of all the debates. For this reason, we must not allow all of the negative information coming from the MSM interrupt the positive energy we are focusing on Barack's debate performance tonight. Nor will I post anything negative on this site or read the negative comments made on the site. I do not expect everyone's approach to this debate to be like mine but I will maintain a spirit of positiveness for Barack. All the prayer in the world will not work if we allow ourselves to get caught up in all the negativeness coming from the media and MC supporters. My prayers and prayer energy go out to Barack tonight. Please all those who have agreed to be a part of the group, don't get involved in the negative-wave that is sweeping the airways and, to some extent, this site. My gut tells me this is going to be the most crucial of all the debates. Barack will not just win he will shine! The voters will know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Barack should be our next president. They will hear and see him as the next president of these United States. They will say what Chuck Hagel’s wife, Lilibet, said this morning “I'm just convinced he's [Barack] the right person." We all believe this; therefore, we can't allow ourselves to get bogged down in all of the nay-saying and or what JM or SP is saying about BO! This negative flow of energy must not enter us on any level! God bless Barack and God bless his presidency!

McCain 's Medical Report |

It has come to my attention through www.mydd.com that Senator John McCain has refused to provide the American public with a current, up to date, medical reports which might disclose his past and present health conditions. I don't know about you, but this is a critical issue based on the fact that he may be dealing with a medical condition or conditions which can greatly affect his performance, should GOD FORBID! he becomes the victor in this race. We should be concerned because if he is under the influence of any type of medication, we need to know what the specific medications are and what the side effects are. For all we know, these medications could be the cause for his irritable erratic behavior. He reminds me of the character that the late Peter Sellers played in,"Dr. Strangelove,or How I Learned To Love The Bomb"; out of control and very insane. You do know that what we have is a case of Post Traumatic Syndrome that peeks its ugly head every time McCain is confronted with a tough question, he has to take us, once again, on a tour of the Hotel Hilton accompanied by his tales of the prison camp. What he doesn't choose to disclose it that he sang like an opera diva while giving out classified information. These tapes are availble, but no one has chosen to hold him accountable for his betrayals.
Alas, we now have a "war hero" who continues to exploit our society and constantly reminds us that we owe him. You know, I could almost believe him, then I think about what my uncle would say if he had lived to return from another war that, that just like our present engagement in Irag, was senseless and driven by the obsession of corporate greed. What a loss to the men and women whose lives were used as colateral damage and to their families who still grieve for those who died physically as well as the families whose loved ones returned as shadows of their former selves.
In closing, the only things that can happen at this juncture of the race is what we allow to take place. Every inch of ground we cover must be considered to be sacred enough make the American public fully aware of what is really going on.
Peace,
Cynthia Wade
