I've theard that at the beginning of every blog, there is a story. The what, they why. Well, as you can see my blog is entitled fire it up, Barack's energetic rally phrase. It's because I saw the video where that phrase first took hold of the crowds, it was my first introduction to him. Then, I researched and found that he supported a health care plan that would allow me to get health insurance. During the Bush administration, my family has had to pay for insurance out of our own pockets. I go to a private school and so what usually ended up happening was that I would get the required, expensive physical, dermatologist appointments for vainity, and my father would just drink tea and wait for he flu to pass. Under his health care plan neither of us would have to sacrifice anything, we could use the money we save for investing in his buisness. Under the Clinton administration my father always had work, now it's harder to comeby. John McCain might not be George Bush, but he has supported his abysmal policies. If John McCain says he's apart from Republicans, then he wouldn't have supported Bush's policies. Perhaps he has the guts to stand apart from the crowd, but he doesn't have the judgement to know when it is neccessary. On the other hand, Barack Obama has consistently known exactly what he wants, and I believe his judgement is sound. Yes, McCain's endurance of torture is admirable, but it does not mean that he is ready to be president. Especially when he believes that waterboarding is not torture, perhaps it never happened to him. He may understand how to save money, but right now what we need is more help for the country, more programs, not less. You won't balance the budget by doing nothing-you need to invest in our country and it will invest in you. It is that unparalleled faith in ourselves and our sense of individual achievement for something greater than ourselves. We can do better than this, I know it and so does Barack. This is why he must be our President. He is what we need, and thanks to this incredible grassroots movement and brillantly financed and stratagized campaign, what we might very well end up getting.
