I have seen other politicians coming out in support of different candidates so I thought I would voice my opinion to US Senator for Indiana Evan Bayh. I requested his support of Barack Obama and asked if I had contacted him through the proper channel. I received a completely "canned" response. Here is the web address that I used. We Need to Push the Local Democrats | Report to Admin

I think we need to contact the politicians in the state. I was told by someone in the campaign that, because Evan Bayh had to drop out, there may be some reluctance by the local players to get involved with this candidate. We need to put pressure on the party leaders. Does anyone have any personal contacts?

Shortly after he dropped out he and Hillary were on a trip to Iraq together. I am pretty sure he is all but pencilled in as Hillary's running mate and that is WHY he dropped out. He was the biggest threat to the centrist turf Hillary is trying to lay claim to; his candidacy would have hurt her more than anyone else.

Honestly, I think Lugar would be more likely to support Barack than Bayh would. Even though they are from opposite sides of the aisle, they really get alomg well, and he has deliberately given Obama some wisdom and experience that will help him should he win.

Evan Bayh's Senate office is immediAtely next to the office of Hillary Clinton, and it is said that the two are close, with Bayh a supporter of Mrs. Clinton. I believe I've read or heard that he will endorse, or may endorce, Senator Clinton. It would matter not at all except that he will be a super delegate.

I believe that Evan Bayh is her national campaign advisor or manager, or whatever the position would be called. I also have a friend that has ties to his offices who told me that the plan is for him to be her running mate. The fact that he is laying so low would I think support this idea, but who knows... she might be getting desperate and try to make a deal to get some boost to her campaign. We'll see...!

I sure would like to see Dems running in every congressional district this year! Between you and me I havn't met many Indiana Dems who like Bayhhhhhh.

Evan Bayh is a disappointment. He is Mrs. Clinton's travel companion and national campaign co-chair.

Sen Lugar (my first boss when he was mayor of Indianapolis) is much more respected and honorable. Also, co-sponsored Nuclear Non-prolif bill with Sen Obama that is now law. Perhaps Lugar comments could be lifted from public statements, but I doubt he would actually come out and support Obama vs. McCain (both McCain and Lugar are respectable public servants of the same party).
