First things first, if you haven’t yet, please log onto http://my.barackobama.com/page/group/LaneStudentsforObama to officially become a member of Lane’s Students for Obama team dedicated to electing Barack Obama 44th president of the United States!
Lane Community College students were personally thanked by Senator Obama when he visited Oregon last spring and I promised him we’d deliver even more registered voters this fall . . . .
But electing Senator Obama our next president is just the tip of the electoral iceberg. In order to really enact the change we desire to see, our future Obama administration will need to work in tandem with a progressive congress. Crucial Senate races in Virginia, Minnesota, Colorado, Alaska, and right here in our own Oregonian backyard are vital to the efforts to elect a Democratic majority in the Senate. Why? So we can see key reform in regards to the economy, health care, education, the environment and the Iraq war.
The above-mentioned reasons (and then some) are why our student group is committed to “Merkley Mondays” - making phone calls from Jeff Merkley’s Forward Oregon office in Eugene at 1178 High Street every Monday at 6pm. If you too would like to volunteer, please contact the campaign at (541) 686-3504 or visit www.jeffmerkley.com. See ya this Monday night for Merkley Mondays in Eugene!
