I've been a Barack Obama supporter since the start of the presidential primary, and although I am still somewhat hopeful about what an Obama presidency might mean for this country, I am dismayed by Barack's apparent dithering on the pending FISA amendment. I believe that ANY concession to the illegal and utterly ill-advised course of the Bush administration will take us in the wrong direction, and giving immunity to companies or individuals who may have aided this course in a criminal manner is simply unthinkable. It would set a very dangerous precedent (when too many have been set already). One of the very things we need to do in order to put our country back on the right course is to hold people accountable for breaking the law and violating the constitution - without this, we're not left with much.
Mr. Obama, please keep our hope alive and show real leadership by opposing ANY form of FISA amendment that grants immunity for breaking the law or that permits any type of warrantless survellance.

The bill does not provide blanket immunity. It throws all the lawsuits back to the District Courts.

Dear Friends,
Has anyone else noticed Obama leaning to the right lately? One blogger even went so far as to call it a "rightward lurch."

I have been uncomfortable with some aspects of Obama's platform for a while. I believe in moderation, but not on privacy. When Obama spoke about FISA, I was upset that he dissed my right to privacy in deference to the telecom corporations.

And why on earth does Obama's "Energy Plan" STILL call for support of nuclear energy?

We need to remind Obama and his campaign what we want. His campaign needs to know how strong his progressive base truly is.
Enter the Obama Escrow Fund: This is a way for us to collectively show our commitment to progressive causes. By pledging donations to the Obama Escrow Fund, we show our strength to encourage Obama to stay with us. The enclosed email explains it in detail.
Give no money: Just make a pledge. After giving $100 directly to Obama's campaign last week, I decided to pledge $300 today to the Escrow Fund. I hope you'll consider doing the same.
Show your strength - ask for real change!

Thank you,
