Just a quick post, I came across and read this post :
Link
and it reminded me of one major turn off from the rally, my response....
You know what, Id hate to agree with you but it's true. At his rally in Chicago there was a gospel choir singing before he came out, and my friend who is Muslim noted feeling a bit excluded, like this campaign no longer was investng efforts into his vote simply because gospel music was not a part of who he is culturally. It is sad to say that a bit of Barack's (as an entity not necessarily a person) gimmicks (so to speak) are starting to show, this does not mean I do not FULLY support Barack, because I do.
I am simply saying maybe his campaign manager should take a look at what all these subtle gestures can be translated into in terms of voter turn out, because there is certainly an element of exclusivity and it's not a good thing.
And... really, I don't mean to be critical or rude per se, I just want Barack to be understood as a man who is open to diversity, because I am confident in that he actually is. I just want him to do well and be our president!

I saw the link. My comment...
Gospel music? I can take that to possibly mean any of the choices below by his organizers:
a) It appeals to the masses
b) Stereotypically most blacks like gospel, so should he and it can help his image in that direction?
c) Helps show he is not Muslim but really Christian. One who loves gospel.
d) Wasn't it Sunday that day?
If it was for any of the reasons above, IMHO a new organizer is needed . One who can keep it real and more fresh. ( I liked the U2 music better myself.)
Good values are found in both religious and non-religious homes if you follow a guiding set of principles. Being religious does not guarantee good values in behavior in an individual as much as not being religious can guarantee immoral behavior. It depends on the choices of the individual. I feel insulted that the current administration uses religion as a platform that maybe now every subsequent candidate for President feels the need to subtly show theirs.
Religion is personal. Not to be used within a campaign or to help win over those who are intolerant of any other religion. Please keep it real and open to everyone.
