"I'm asking you to believe. Not just in my ability to bring about real change in Washington... I'm asking you to believe in yours." If am not mistaken Sir, these have been your own words. Words used in your recent campaign. You gave flesh and bones to the word "Change" and your presidential election passed the message that "when there is a will there is always a way"! Your election was and still is the talk of the planet. An election with so many expectations from everyone…
I strongly understand that part of your forthcoming four year political agenda as a president of one of the strongest countries within the planet, will be to ensure a stronger U.S-Israel Partnership. My job is not to criticize your agenda Sir, nor guide it, that would be your job to do so. I simply want to tell you to act as a politician who acts from heart. Act as a politician who's guided by his personal values gained from parents and teachers. I'm nobody and most probably will remain nobody until the day I die… YOU Sir is someone who's actions and words DO count! Take good advantage of this gift that God gave you and use it wisely through out your political journey as a president.
Sir, allow me to express my anger and disappointment of the current situation in Gaza. I will not repeat myself like the others. Nor will I support any of the two parties' actions. I'm angry simply because innocent lives are lost and hundred others are a step away from dying. Forgive me Sir, but my mind cannot understand how a 2 years old child can be a terrorist, and his or her death will save in the nearby future the lives of many Israeli citizens from a possible terrorist act… Forgive me Sir, for not believing that hundred of lives have been lost simply because they were at the wrong place at the wrong time. Excuses over and over again… Excuses to excuse what human mind cannot digest! The community in Gaza is bleeding. Please help to stop the bleeding. Please help to stop the unfair killings of the civilians who die due to political ambitions from both sides. These Political Ambitions overlook the human rights, values and beliefs. Past Monday, the White House released a statement saying "in order for the violence to stop Hamas must stop firing rockets into Israel and agree to respect a sustainable and durable cease-fire". Such an ironic political statement released after careful study of the situation. "In order for"…., "Must"….., useless words that actually don't feet in a fight! People are dying. Innocent civilians lost their lives from one day to another. Families have been destroyed! Hopes are vanished and smiles are replaced by tears and sadness.
I personally don't care about the Israeli and Hamas' stubborn political strategy. I do care though about all those who are left behind in a hospital bed, praying to God to save their lives. If the political world of Israel is looking only for Hamas' supporters in Gaza why does the Gaza crossings are shut close? It is much easier to kill an ant and call yourself powerful, than to kill a viper with bear hands. There are children out there that need urgent help... There are children out there who share the same dreams as any other kind of child in this planet. Sir as the president of Change, you have the opportunity to change the situation! Don't shut your eyes in front of this unfair massacre. I fear that soon Hamas' supporters will fight back and the number of innocent casualties will raise again.
Peace is the hardest type of war. It's the hardest battle to fight for and win it. A couple of months ago, in your recent visit to Israel you stated: "If somebody was sending rockets into my house where my two daughters sleep at night, I'm going to do everything in my power to stop that. And I would expect Israelis to do the same thing". Simply remember Sir, that the coin bears two sides and what you've stated a few months ago is actually what a Palestinian father, living in Gaza is stating right now! There is no black or white Sir... There is always space for gray!
Let the forthcoming 20th of January 2009 be indeed a day of Change Sir!
