Hello- my name is margaret and I am from Beaufort ,South Carolina.I have been very skeptical of politics after these past 8 years-I watched while people died on roof tops after Katrina and I saw abandoned pets starnded and killed-I was very effected by this and by a government that was more than broken-I watched as the fda was broken and saw pets die from tained pet food-loving companions that were killed by the lack of action by the fda-I literally had to buy cat and dog food off store shelves because I was toold that the fda could not make the stores take it off their shelves-I was a first grade teacher here and taught until I wwas asked to pass kids onto second grade-I was not allowed to keep them one more year-this was wrong and I felt that I could not change this broken system in our Education department-so I told them that they didnt pay me enough money band that it was against my pricipals not to put the childs well being before the schools policies- to ruin a childs life-to pass them onto a class where they did not have the skills necessary to complete the work-I quit-I found out that the two boys I wanted to hold back in first grade were now failing in fourth grade-forver behind-because of a broken school system-It broke my heart-When I heard of Obama-I was not instantly taken but as I got to see him and hear him talk I felt something -I felt good -I felt moved-I came from a family that lived in secrets so I had to sense what was happening even when words were not said -I had to do my best to keep my mother safe and be the one to look out for her-so after seeing Barack and listening to him-I was struck by his down to earth and honest humility-I trusted him-I had that sense that unlike most he was real and he was not doing this for fame or fortune -he already had that-he was doing it because he felt it in his heart-He wanted to help this country recover and to be the America we all could believe in again-I never do anything unless ny heart tells me too-I am an independent and I found myself feeling for the first time ever that this great man could change this country-he knew it would take hard work but he was willing for the sake of all americans,to help those who had no voice and to make the middle class a priority not a memory-I grew up in a wealthy family who had repiublican views-but I always wanted to help people-I was tortured seeing that people were not able to get ahead here they could barely hang on -It was not fair--throguhout my life I have listened to my heart and I can hoestly say that I trust Barack Obama-I dont have to wander if what he says is true I know it is-he is that kind of man--honest and trustworthy but also brilliant-he was not born into money -hardly but he had a very loving mother and grandparents that gave him Love-and he was able to excel in school
