McCain has no specific or specialized experience in managing a nation, anyway; he just has his broad-based "I joined the Navy and crashed a few planes while I was there" experience.
He spent the rest of his time in active duty captured and waiting for his dad to come rescue him...his military 'experience' does nothing for whether or not he is able to manage this country in foreign and international affairs.
I suspect his misplaced anger was more over him not being rescued soon enough than it was his "tortured" soul while in Vietnamese custody.
