This Will Not End the War

I came from a generation of people who thought that marching in the streets ended the war in Vietnam.
At best, our marching in the streets for peace ended our involvement in Vietnam and ended television coverage of the War in Vietnam. IT DID NOT END THE WAR. The war kept on going and there were more people killed in the year or so following our exit from Vietnam than were killed throughout the entire war for the decade+ previous. However, we did not have to see it on TV, so, we thought we did a good thing. What we did by surrendering in Vietnam was despicable; and if we pull out of Iraq, don't worry--you will no longer be subjected to a US military body count; you will no longer be subjected to televsion coverage of Iraq; but the war will not end; and the suffering and bloodshed there will increase ten-fold, if not more. But, you will not have to see it, and that is what you want.
However, as almost every military expert has already attested to, these results, although we won't have to see them on television any more, will greatly impact us in the next several decades.
