I'm 22 years old and am not a first time voter. I was able to vote in the last general election and being fiscally conservative...I was a Republican.
4 years can change a person and even though i am still fiscally conservative, money isn't my only concern, there are much more pressing issues like the environment and ending this insipid war in Iraq and restoring American diplomacy in the world. Not to mention making college affordable and fixing the decrepit education system as a whole. On a side note, i propose colleges make it customary that every student should study abroad for a year of their college career. We will increase foreign relations and our country as a whole would have a better view and understanding of the rest of the world.
But enough of that. Anyways, Washington has drowned any hopes of being fiscally responsible and now i figure i would rather pay for healthcare than a pointless war.
And this is why Obama is important to me. Everything he represents resonates with me, except healthcare. With healthcare i am indifferent, but everything else i feel is important to our country and he can lead us in a positive direction! Bonus* he is inspiring!
The rest of the world is watching us! Obama is already raising respect for us around world just through this campaign! If the rest of the world can see the significance of this, then why do some Americans seem so oblivious?
