With the Virginia pettion drive coming to a close, now is a great time toput forth that last bit of effort. I hope to see all Virginians on BarackObama.com at the Charlottesville rally on Monday. Its not to late to get your tickets. Please do whatever you can to get your friends and family to make that trip to Charlottesville. And of course get those last few signatures. We are still not quite finished in the Va Beach or Congressional District #2. It's time to rally Virginians and let Obama know that Virginia is no longer a red state. Obama O8!

Thanks to the amazingly successful event in Charlottesville and the hard work of our volunteers all across the Commonwealth of Virginia, we have now completed the statewide petition drive to make sure that we can vote for Barack Obama in the Virginia primary in February. Kevin Wolf, the statewide coordinator for the petition drive, is counting up our petition signatures and will soon be announcing that we have surpassed our statewide goal of 15,000 signatures (I'm jumping the gun slightly with this post -- sorry Kevin W). In order to be listed on the ballot, however, we need to get a minimum number of signatures in each of the eleven congressional districts in Virginia. Our volunteers in six congressional districts went well above their goals, but in the remaining districts (the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 9th Congressional Districts) we still need more signatures to make sure Barack is listed on the ballot. If you live in one of these districts, please make sure you contact your local Obama campaign petition drive volunteers and sign Barack's petition in the next few days.
Additionally, we are asking for volunteers from other parts of Virginia to travel to the three districts that need the most help -- the 1st (eastern counties including Fredericksburg), 4th (southern Virginia including, Chesapeake, Suffolk and Petersburg) and 9th (far southwest including Bristol, Abingdon, Christiansburg). If you can help in any of these districts over the next couple of weeks (we need to be completed by November 15), please stay tuned as we will post more information here with information on hwo to volunteer to help.
p.s., Cherry Vincent has been posting great blogs to inspire all of us Obama volunteers in Virginia. She has a great name but our only relation is that we are both fired up to be supporting Barack!
