...(I)t has taken me that long to feel confident in telling friends and family that I was going to be traveling to Denver to be seated with the NH Delegation in order to "blog" about the experience. The magnitude of the event, and my participation in it so unlikely, that part of me did not want to talk about it too much, I was sure that someone would soon wake me up and I would realize it was all a dream. Driving home through the rain and fog on Rt. 101 the reality began to sink in. I will be in Denver with the people who will nominate Barack Obama to be the Democratic Nominee for President of the United States of America. I'm not ashamed to share that the emotional effects of this realization made the road even more difficult to see.
Gov. Dean gave a short, frank speech yesterday to open up the State Committee meeting in Macon. He emphasized the main goal that will help Obama carry Georgia is registering the 500,000 unregistered voters in this state. Personally, I was just glad to see a DNC Chairman who cares about Georgia and understands that we have a different electoral demographic than other potential swing states....
If one of the ideas that Barack Obama is trying to put forward in his campaign is that people at the most grassroots level should have a real voice in our country, then he is already winning. We didn't finish our list of topics, but it was a great way to enjoy some time with new friends.
The Amador Democrats would like to apologize to Amador County Fair goers for underestimating Barack Obama's popularity in our "red" rural county. After less than two days of the four day fair, we ran out of Obama buttons and bumper stickers, leaving many of you unable to show your support. We are truly sorry. For those who missed out on getting their Obama button and stickers, we will be ordering more and will have them available at our headquarters in downtown Jackson. Running out of the Obama gear was a pleasant surprise. If that isn't an understatement, I don't know what is. ... We ordered what we thought would be plenty of Obama buttons and bumper stickers to last the four days of the fair. Response at our booth outpaced our supply, and we had to say words that surprised even us -- "sold out."
