Jerome Corsi is back with
a new book of lies
-- this time about Barack Obama.
In the Swift Boat smear campaign of 2004, Corsi co-authored a book of distortions and lies about John Kerry.
With his new book, Corsi and his cohorts are
rehashing distortions and the same old lies
about Barack Obama. These smear-peddlers actively seek to distract Americans from serious issues and to derail the efforts of the millions of people who own a part of this election and are working tirelessly to bring about real change in this country.
Corsi and his cohorts must be stopped.
Read the facts about Corsi and his desperate fabrications

An old grad from the Naval Academy, who's currently a judge in the DC area, told me that Ollie North hasn't been back to Annapolis since the Iran-Contra scandal. The reason: he has been silenced by his classmates for lying under oath during the congressional testimony. A clear violation of the USNA honor code, his classmates told him that they are not allowed to talk to him — in other words, they're giving him the silence treatment, the traditional punishment for breaking the honor code.
This judge is a die-hard Republican, so I have no idea why he'd make up something like that, and I've never investigated it, but it does seem odd that I've never heard mention of Mr. North appearing at Annapolis, for a speech, a football game, or a graduation.
Anyway, getting back on track...
McCain is danger-close to putting himself in the same boat.
At the military academies, quibbling is the same thing as lying.
And it is definitely quibbling to run around saying "Tell them to get back to work" when he failed to vote on this critical issue eight times.

Eight Strikes and You’re Out
By THOMAS L. FRIEDMAN
Published: August 12, 2008
John McCain recently tried to underscore his seriousness about pushing through a new energy policy, with a strong focus on more drilling for oil, by telling a motorcycle convention that Congress needed to come back from vacation immediately and do something about America’s energy crisis. “Tell them to come back and get to work!” McCain bellowed.
Sorry, but I can’t let that one go by. McCain knows why.
It was only five days earlier, on July 30, that the Senate was voting for the eighth time in the past year on a broad, vitally important bill — S. 3335 — that would have extended the investment tax credits for installing solar energy and the production tax credits for building wind turbines and other energy-efficiency systems.
Senator McCain did not show up for the crucial vote on July 30, and the renewable energy bill was defeated for the eighth time. In fact, John McCain has a perfect record on this renewable energy legislation. He has missed all eight votes over the last year — which effectively counts as a no vote each time. Once, he was even in the Senate and wouldn’t leave his office to vote.

Dear Mr.Plouffe:
What are you doing? The future of America and the free-world is on your shoulders and you're running this campaign like a Senatorial campaign.
You're going to lose this election.
This campaign should be about one issue and one issue only. The ECONOMY stupid (part II).
Only a healthy economy will give us national security, education, energy solutions, health care, etc. But more importantly, it's a simple message to what is becoming an increasingly simple electorate (e.g. Palin supporters). David, please stop confusing voters with intellectual appeals to anything but their fear of this collapsing economy.
It's not too late. EVERYONE understands his or her bank balance and it needs to be hammered home. China, Russia, et al are breathing down our necks and you're making the Democrats seem so complacent. Forget McCain, ignore Palin.
It's just the economy.
Sigh.

David Shuster just owned a member of PUMA on hardball. She admitted donating $500 to the republican party. She admitted she will never vote for Obama. Both people ignored David saying Hillary has said that she rejects them. He owned them on the rules regarding Florida and Michigan and said all candidates agreed to the rules. The girl named Pelosi,Donna Brazile, and Howard Dean as betrayers yet they will never vote for Obama. When this hits You Tube lets make this go viral. They both got served up a good ole can of whoopa$$!

Obama has 90% of the black vote, 60% of the Hispanic vote, 50% of the white vote but he has 100% of the vote of people who think it doesn't matter if they vote!!!

right now is projected though to have 45% of the white vote....that is the number that needs to be raised.....He leads white females by 19% according to WSJ.....the group he needs to grow in is with white males.....Brian Schweitzer can help with that group....

This gives me the strong impression that these are closeted Republicans, much like Liebermann. They are not interested in the future of America and the ideals of democracy. Each of them hopes to inflict disunity, to divide, just like Repulsive Repubs always do. It will be best when such insidious turncoats are no longer infiltrating this progressive movement.

Carville and his current wife were RIVELS during the campaign the year Bush Sr. ran for his second term against Bill Clinton and Ross Perot. That was an EXCITING YEAR. Carville and his wife DUKED IT OUT all over TV ....he was part of the Bill Clinton campaign and she was with the Bush Sr. Campaign. After the election the news was that they were an item and eventually married and had children. Im sure that HUGE rivelry between them was part of the chemistry. I dont think Carville is racist...I think he LOVED that Clinton election year and loved participating in what seemed like a re-do with Hillary this time.

I was in the bookstore the other day when I saw Mr. Corsi's piece of fiction (to call it a nonfiction work is laughable)on Barack Obama prominently displayed, as if it were a serious work to be taken seriously.
The best thing we can do is refute every single lie Corsi insists on peddling and profiting from. Spread the truth - and KEEP telling it, reminding folks that it was just these lies that gave us eight disastrous years of George W. Bush and will give us four more disastrous years under John McCain. Their negativity will not prevail.
Will we fight back with the truth?

Technology to get the vote out |

Andy from Bellevue, WA
Aug 14th 2008 at 7:45 pm EDT (Updated Aug 14th 2008 at 7:45 pm EDT)
As founder and CEO of Alerts.com I’d like to invite you to explore a capability that no other campaign will have ever done before and way more powerful to ensure voters vote: sending voters an alert, on their terms, on any device, on schedule to encourage them to go vote, when and where it matters.
Imagine the following scenario where the battle is fierce in Ohio, Virginia, Colorado, Florida and Michigan. History might repeat itself where by Ohio's close presidential contest in 2004 made it the last among the states to be decided, and Bush's win by slightly more than 2 percentage points over Kerry gave him the 20 electoral votes that clinched his re-election . Two percentage points… 120,000 voters in Ohio…
What if you could, at the push of a button, send instantly, county by county, a message that would arrive to a voter’s email cell phone, home phone (with a voice recorded message from Barrack: “I need your support for change, Ohio is key to our success. Please vote today. Vote now”), desktop… On their terms, in the context of their lives. Couldn’t we rally 120,000 voters to go vote?
Alerts.com is prepared to expand this technology to Barrack’s campaign. But we need to act now to be ready on time for change. Getting is done is relatively simple:
- Democrats.org will invite your email list of voters to register to the Barrack-for-Change-Vote-Alerts powered by Alerts.com
- Voters will configure the delivery of their alert by providing their required information
- As the county by county tally unfolds you send messages to voters and they are delivered automatically and synchronously to all the device of their choice
- You count the extra votes
Alerts.com has partnered with leading technology back-end providers such as 4INFO, SinglePoint, MessageSystems, Microsoft to build our infrastructure. We have been selected to present at DEMO Fall 08, the leading emerging technology showcase in the USA and being recognized for our leading technology.
Looking forward to hearing from you. I have tried to reach David Plouffe but have not succeed.

We also have a program sending people post cards...there is lots of stuff..plus when we call people, we can answer their questions, give them their address to vote...and all of this....
All the supporters who said they voted for Obama in the primary when we called, will get a call to remind them...same with the Hillary supporters and supporters of other dem candidates...

I don't understand why the media isn't calling McCain out for interfering in foreign policy. They came down hard on Obama just for talking in Berlin -- called him presumptuous. But McCain has said he talks to Georgia's president EVERY DAY! And what is he saying to him? Might he have encouraged Georgia to think the US would back them if they invaded the disputed territory? His campaign manager had a $200,000 contract to lobby for Georgia for god's sake. Why isn't the media digging on this to see why McCain thinks he can communicate directly with the Georgian president and not be called "presumptuous."?!!!

Air traffic control tapes reveal that the pilot of Obama’s campaign plane did declare an emergency last month after an evacuation slide inflated inside the plane’s tail.
The jet’s pilot also requested emergency equipment meet the plane in St. Louis.
Officials had said the pilot did not declare an emergency, and there was no concern about danger.

Well again Thank God they were safe. It really showed how calm he is even when under pressure or in dangerous situation. That is the kind of temperament we need in a President.

Living in Ohio, I have see lots of smear ads by the opposition. Tonight, a new one - that Obama plans to raise taxes on families earning $40,000 a year. When is the Obama campaign going to get off it's high horse and start hitting back? If they don't start getting in the mud, this will be another Mondale, Dukakas, Gore, Kerry losing campaign. Stop being so noble and slug it out! This isn't a gentleman's contest.

At this defining moment in our history, Americans are hungry for change. After years of failed policies and failed politics from Washington, this is our chance to reclaim the American dream. Change We Can Believe In outlines his vision for America.
In these pages you will find bold and specific ideas about how to fix our ailing economy and strengthen the middle class, make health care affordable for all, achieve energy independence, and keep America safe in a dangerous world. Change We Can Believe In asks you not just to believe in Barack Obama’s ability to bring change to Washington, it asks you to believe in yours.

Remember, the campaign came out hard against McCain after the primaries and even during the primaries. Then started softening before his Iraq trip and after the whole FISA craze. But thank God they are fighting again.
No need for character smears, McCain is doing that to himself fine.
But finally the democrats are fighting back and taking back issues.
-Obama is fighting him for Christian voters and winning.
-Obama fought him on National security issues and is behind only 9pts.
-Now he's fighting McCain on economy and beating his butt.

The Clintons are undermining the momentum potential of the Obama nomination. The speech
ok, but the vote will introduce speeches for the Clinton nomination and will help dilute the excitement of the great moment and help increase the schism that we have been trying to overcome. The American audience will not see this as just a normal role call vote, by the end they'll say "there they go again!" A big turnoff...and I say this as someone who first saw these conventions in 1950 and the problems stirred up...sometimes riots ensued.
Gonna make our campaign for Barack and a new beginning much more challenging. But we must just make up our minds to get this done!

If you personally cannot afford to, please ask your friends and family to purchase the book. The best way for us to combat the smears is to show the power of the grassroots to change the story. Can you imagine how powerful it would be to have a book about Barack's POLICIES reach #1 on Amazon and the NY Times best-seller list. The current Corsi book is #1 based on the strength of its BULK SALES to right-wing organizations. Let's be our own grassroots co-op and purchase copies of the upcoming campaign book in the millions.

Well there's really only one meaning and the Clinton Pumas have used it for their PAC. The Urban dictionary says that a "Puma" is a woman too young to be a "Cougar" but who still likes to go after younger men. I assume the original Cougar name was after the cat and is a play on words as in "catting around" with the rather sexist idea that an older woman going after a younger man is somehow dangerous (men go after younger women all the time and just get an "atta boy").
Moving on. Now the bitter and obsessed female Clinton supporters registered their official PAC "People United Means Action!" with the acronym P.U.M.A. One assumes they came up with the acronym and THEN thought up a name because the actual name is a bit on the lame side.
Why they would want to name their group their group after a rather sexist, probably male derived epithet for a single woman in her late 30's and 40's is something you will have to ask them. It's beyond me!

Once again, PUMA folks or whatever you are stand for; how is it that when it comes to financial issue, you people are nowhere to find? Now, that impression already instilled to mind that you people are just talk. If you truly support Sen. Clinton, you people could have contributed at least $100.00 each and her debt could have totally erased and that could have alleviate her financial anxiety.

With all due respect Grandma, I've been around Democratic politics for 45 years and this nasty book is bad news. Yes, the 40 page answer was the right thing to do but we need to do more. Not the Obama campaign, of course, but we Democrats MUST act, or this piece of fiction is going to cause a LOT of damage. It always does!
Does anyone know of any similar McCain book coming out? MoveON, where are you when we need you???? The difference is, of course, that we can come up with PLENTY of very damaging stuff on McCain without telling one lie. We can start with how he dumped his wife and go on to how he wants to privatize social security!

Aug 14th 2008 at 8:20 pm EDT (Updated Aug 14th 2008 at 8:20 pm EDT)
The Score radio station in Chicago has an afternoon segment called “Who are you crapping”. The point of the segment is for callers to point out hypocrisy wherever they hear it. The only rule is that the comment must end with the words “Who are you crapping”. Since the Score is a sports station most all time the calls are about sports, but today was different. John McCain had three crap’s tossed his way. The one that I like the most was from a caller in Oklahoma, and it went like this.
“This week John McCain commenting on the situation between Russia and Georgia said that in the 21st century nations don’t invade other nations. This is the same John McCain who said in January that the Iraq war was not a mistake. Well, by John’s definition the US is not a nation, and that we are not Americans since in the same interview he said that we are all Georgians now, so John McCain who are you crapping”
I don’t know if the caller is a Barack supporter, but it’s nice to know that people are paying attention even if the MSM wants to ignore or gloss over McCain’s hypocrisy.
To the guy from Oklahoma, if you are a support of Barack’s and reading this post, nice crap.

Is it just me over thinking things
Or is the timing of the book Obamanation hitting the shelves before the convention
well executed by Carville and his wife
Did the Clintons know the book would be put out 2 weeks before convention(via Carville)
Is that why she put out induendos(video) that she thought her supporters needed catharsasism (sp?) and there should be a roll call to help them and 1 week prior to convention her name is on the vote
Is she hoping that the party will turn her way at the last minute
Why are all 3 Clintons speaking at the convention?
Did we not hear enough from all of them during the primaries?
Obama won the primary fair and square with the required amount of delegates
The convention is the time to unite the party, lets pray this all works out.
I have faith with Obamas team ,they have always been miles ahead strategically but I do not fully understand this one
Any thoughts?

I don't put anything past some of the old guard... but this nomination fight is over.
It is too late for Hillary to pull a team together, or raise the money to wage an effective campaign. What would happen to Obama's supporters? She would not get a dime from the 2 million donors. She could not get the millions Barack has already raised. She would not get the support of the 1 million grassroots volunteers. All of the voter registration efforts would end...
In other words, she [and the democratic party] would lose this thing big time. It is far too late for changes. Obama is our presumptive nominee today - and will be the official nominee in 2 weeks. The swiftboaters played their hand too early... we have enough time to show them for the liars that they are.

Zhana, don't you get it.....If the primary vote was reversed, either in a few weeks at the convention or in the last few months by the super delegates, Barack Obama would HAVE TO be Hillary's VP..The party would force him to....it is the only way the Democrats could win...if Hillary had stolen the election by getting the superdelegates to mobilize against Obama she would have to make him VP...
That would give her his 100M$ funds, and make him part of the campaign mobilizing volunteers....
Look, if Obama lost Indiana and North Carolina after losing PA by 15 points, Hillary would have gotten the super delegates to reverse the national vote, used this to push Obama down in the polls against her and McCain, and hurt him to make herself the nominee..at that point he would have to be VP.....Obama knew that......
Hillary doesn't care....the convention is in a few weeks..if there is a 1% chance that something could come up that she could use to get it reversed, that is good enough odds for her....She just doesn't care........

Of course Hillary doesnt care because Hillary wants to be President. ANYTHING can happen at the convention. We hope ALL delegates vote as expected and that Super Delegates dont switch sides. Im sure there is a lot going on behind the scenes right now. I would have LOVED for Hillary to have bowed out completely and by releasing her delegates......last June. That didn't happen. Once past the convention ....I think it's home sailing to election day against McCain but there is NO NOMINEE until the Delegates SAY SO. We'll know for sure ....at the convention.

the very book Obama Nation that everyone is screaming about is being published by none other than Mary Matalin....James Carvelle's wife.
Are you seriously going to tell me the Clinton's didn't have a heads up on this book being published and released 2 weeks before the convention?? Puh-leeeeeez

I agree, there is no way she and Bill would not have known that this book was coming out at this time. Washington is a small town and gossip is the second biggest game in town, politics being the first. (I lived and worked there for two decades.)
She kept saying that "anything can happen before the convention." My question is -- if she had even a hint of this, why didn't she give Sen. Obama a heads up? Why didn't she release her delegates? Why is she pushing to take over the convention? She lost; she did not win.
Sen Obama may trust her. I don't.
But We will elect Sen.Obama. WE must to save our country from fascism. We're closer to that than anyone ever realized or wanted to know.
We also need to fight this latest McCain supported garbage with all our energies. But IMHO, you are right. She had to know.

I think that if Obama supporters hosted book clubs in our communities talking specifically about the policies in the book this could be a great mobilization tool for the general election. Any thoughts on this? Should I suggest the idea to the campaign? Perhaps they already planned such an idea.

Aug 14th 2008 at 8:35 pm EDT (Updated Aug 14th 2008 at 8:35 pm EDT)
T]here is no excuse for what the McCain campaign is doing on the "putting America first" front. There is no way to balance it, or explain it other than as evidence of a severe character defect on the part of the candidate who allows it to be used. There is a straight up argument to be had in this election: Mcain has a vastly different view from Obama about foreign policy, taxation, health care, government action...you name it. He has lots of experience; it is always shocking to remember that this time four years ago, Barack Obama was still in the Illinois State Legislature. Apparently, though, McCain isn't confident that conservative policies and personal experience can win, given the ruinous state of the nation after eight years of Bush. So he has made a fateful decision: he has personally impugned Obama's patriotism and allows his surrogates to continue to do that. By doing so, he has allied himself with those who smeared him, his wife, his daughter Bridget, in 2000. Those tactics won George Bush a primary--and a nomination. But they proved a form of slow-acting spiritual poison, rotting the core of the Bush presidency. We'll see if the public decides to acquiesce in sleaze in 2008, and what sort of presidency--what sort of country--that will produce.

A recognizable face has finally been put on the motive behind the Hillary Clinton supporters and it is not pretty. I happened to catch a brief conversation on Darragh Murphy from a PUMA woman who claims that she will never vote for Obama even when he becomes the nominee. This woman was pressed as to whether or not she is a Republican in disguise because her stance on the issues is definitely the same as the Democratic Party. After being pressed about her nonsensical response she finally volunteered that the issues is that the power of the party is at stake.
A light bulb went on. These are people who are entrenched in the party politics and have been forever. They owe their allegiance to and positions of influence to the Clintons. When Obama is nominated they are definitely out. But hold on a minute! If Obama looses the election guess who is STILL in control of the Democratic Party. Now a clear motive and strategy unfolds for those seemingly irrational people. They are very rational and dangerous. They care more about their access to power and possible ascension to that power than they care about winning an election. The reality is that it is not even about Obama. It is all about them.
Regardless of what happens, the Clintons will still be protected. Surely they loose the positions of King and Queen of the party but they are not banished and will remain influential. However, the Clintons can not fulfill the promises that may have been made to the faithful who worked so hard for them starting with Hillary’s run as a senator in NY. It is difficult for them to see their efforts go up in smoke and have an upstart from Illinois place in those coveted party positions.
It is all about loss of POWER!
