This morning at a town hall meeting in Dover, New Hampshire, Barack spent some time discussing the disconnect between Washington insiders and everyday Americans. He talked about how John McCain offers four more years of the same failed policies of George W. Bush and the same disconnect between Washington and everyday Americans.
Watch an excerpt of Barack's remarks below:

Sarah Palin’s distortions (in the first interview conducted by Charlie Gibson) made it sound like Russia attacked Georgia. Georgia attacked Ossetia. The attack was unprovoked and took place a full 24 hours before even one Russian soldier set foot in South Ossetia. Nevertheless, Palin was not questioned in depth on that answer. I think it should have been made clear weather or not Russia invaded Georgia so that the next question could have been put in it’s proper perspective. Gibson then asked about the NATO treaty. When Gibson said if under the NATO treaty, the United States would have to go to war if Russia again invaded Georgia? Then the response: "Perhaps so. I mean, that is the agreement when you are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you're going to be expected to be called upon and help.” Would have a very different impact. Palin continued "And we've got to keep an eye on Russia. For Russia to have exerted such pressure in terms of invading a smaller democratic country, unprovoked, is unacceptable," she told Gibson. Russia has stated that it will not sit by and allow the Georgians to attack South Ossetia. Russia is today a rich powerful country with an arsenal of nuclear weapons (by the way Palin can’t pronounce nuclear much better than Bush) this predicament is very dismal.
American Marines (a thousand of them) a short while before this had been in Georgia training the Georgian military forces. American-armed and trained Georgian army swarmed into South Ossetia, killing an estimated 2,000 civilians, sending 40,000 South Ossetians fleeing over the Russian border, and destroying much of the capital, Tskhinvali.
There is no dispute about the facts except among the people who get their information from the media. Despite its steady loss of credibility, the corporate media continues to operate as propaganda machine.

McCain vs. Palin: He Said, She Said Hotlist
by BarbinMD
Daily Kos
This was John McCain, late last year on why he was qualified to be the president:
I am prepared. I need no on-the-job training. I wasn't a mayor for a short period of time. I wasn't a governor for a short period of time.
And here is Sarah Palin last night on why she is ready to be a 72-year old heartbeat away from the presidency:
Charlie, again, we've got to remember what the desire is in this nation at this time. It is for no more politics as usual and somebody's big, fat resume maybe that shows decades and decades in that Washington establishment, where, yes, they've had opportunities to meet heads of state.
So there you have it. The ultimate he said, she said. John McCain explained why Sarah Palin isn't qualified to be a heartbeat away from the presidency, and Sarah Palin explained why John McCain doesn't represent change, just more of the same old politics as usual.

LET`S HAVE A LOOK AT OBAMA`S WORK EXPERIENCE, AND KNOWLEDGE
~In the US Senate, Barack Obama has served on the FOREIGN RELATIONS COMMITTEE, HOMELAND SECURITY COMMITTEE, VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE, HEALTH, EDUCATION, LABOUR & PENSION COMMITTEE.
~Before getting to the US Senate Obama served 11 years in the Illinois State Senate.
~Barack Obama is a graduate TOP of his class at Harvard Law School. Barack Obama also has a degree in Political science specializing in International Relations.
~Barack Obama worked in Chicago, Illinois as a community organizer, Obama, as the director of the Developing Communities Project in Chicago, helped set up a job training program, a college preparatory tutoring program, and a tenants' rights organization in Altgeld Gardens.
~When he joined the Developing Communities Project, it had a staff membership of one person and an anual budget of $70,000, but when he left it three years later, it had 13 staff members and an anual budget of $400,000. Republicans like to talk about making buisnesses successful, the measure of success being that they produce, amass capital, increase the wealth of the owners and stockholders and so on. But Barack turned a public service organization that prepared people for education, jobs and serviced their struggling neighborhoods into a solid success. (EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE)
~Barack Obama also worked as a consultant and instructor for a community organizing institute.
~Barack Obama worked as a Civil Rights lawyer for 9 years.
~Barack Obama was also a University of Chicago Constutitional Law Professor for 12 years.
~In the U.S Senate Obama has served on the FOREIGN RELATIONS COMMITTEE, HOMELAND SECURITY COMMITTEE, VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE, HEALTH, EDUCATION, LABOUR & PENSION COMMITTEE.
~In the US Senate Obama has written 890 pieces of legislation, and co-sponsored 1096 pieces of legislation.
Finally, if I get into listing his EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE in RUNNING SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGNS... well you know the rest..... OBAMA EXPERIENCE -- YES!!!! OBAMA KNOWLEDGE --- YES!!!! OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT-- YES!!!

CONT.
Barack Obama: 1 House and he was only recently able to pay off his college debt having sold his two books. He has much more in common with most Americans than his critics and the GOP would have you believe.
Barack will give the country a health care system that works and he won't face the same gridlock that HRC did in the 90's because he is open to working with Republicans. He is also opposed to a mandate (like the one in Clinton and Edwards' plans) which would require many Americans to pay rates that many could not afford.
He has battled legislatively against the death penalty.
Barack is consistently looking out for our troops:
Link
In Washington, he has worked with Republicans on nuclear proliferation (Obama-Lugar Nonproliferation Act), government waste, global warming and ethics reform legislation he passed with Sen. Tom Coburn known as the Accountability In Federal Spending Act.
Barack believes in full and complete transparency of government.
He stands faithfully by our rights in the constitution. Barack taught constitutional law for ten years.

Obama and the Palin Effect
by Deepak Chopra
Sometimes politics has the uncanny effect of mirroring the national psyche even when nobody intended to do that. This is perfectly illustrated by the rousing effect that Gov. Sarah Palin had on the Republican convention in Minneapolis this week. On the surface,
she outdoes former Vice President Dan Quayle as an unlikely choice, given her negligent parochial expertise in the complex affairs of governing. Her state of Alaska has less than 700,000 residents, which reduces the job of governor to the scale of running one-tenth of New York City. By comparison, Rudy Giuliani is a towering
international figure. Palin's pluck has been admired, and her forthrightness,
but her real appeal goes deeper.
She is the reverse of Barack Obama, in essence his shadow, deriding his idealism and turning negativity into a cause for pride. In psychological terms the shadow is that part of the psyche that hides out of sight, countering our aspirations, virtue, and vision
with qualities we are ashamed to face: anger, fear, revenge, violence, selfishness, and suspicion of "the other." For millions of Americans, Obama triggers those feelings, but they don't want to express them. He is calling for us to reach for our higher selves, and
frankly, that stirs up hidden reactions of an unsavory kind. (Just to be perfectly clear, I am not making a verbal play out of the fact that Sen. Obama is black. The shadow is a metaphor widely in use before his arrival on the scene.) I recognize that psychological analysis of politics is usually not welcome by the public, but I believe such a perspective can be helpful here to understand Palin's message. In her acceptance speech Gov. Palin sent a rousing call to those who want to celebrate their resistance to change and a higher vision.
Look at what she stands for:
* Small town values - a nostalgic return to simpler times disguises a denial of America's global role, a return to petty, small- minded parochialism.
* Ignorance of world affairs - a repudiation of the need to repair America's image abroad.
* Family values - a code for walling out anybody who makes acclaim for social justice. Such strangers, being outside the family, don’t need to be needed.
* Rigid stands on guns and abortion - a scornful repudiation that these issues can be negotiated with those who disagree.

I just saw you on The View. You are very lovely and I'm very glad you support the plastics industry.
You said your parents gave you a good life and that you'd like to share that amazing bounty that they left you. I hope your husband feels the same way.
I'm a local musician here in California and despite a life of hard work I've yet to attain my American dream. Even though I fell short, my son just might have a chance. I'm doing everything I can to put him through college and as a result have taken on, what is to me, crushing debt. He has too. He studies hard and has garnered a 4.0 grade average since he transferred to a university. He is an amazing investment in the future of our country.
So my question to you is: Can you and your husband help ? I don't need one of your many houses, (even though they're probably not being lived in at the moment), just help with paying off the loans. God forbid that he would have to take a job as a community organizer like Sen. Obama did and take 20+ years to pay them off. If you act quickly, the balance would be a little less than $30,000. This, I dare say, would be way less than the cost of the diamond brooch you are so fond of wearing.
In return, I can agree to vote for your husband, come November, even though I'm a lifelong Democrat. I can ask my wife to vote for him, too. She's a Republican and evangelical Christian and your husband instills fear in her heart because of his economic policies. At this time, she is going to stay home on election day. But if you can alleviate our personal concerns about our son's education costs , I'm sure I can convince her to vote for Mr. McCain. Maybe she'll even put a bumper sticker on her car !
If you are willing to help, I have no problem driving out to Sedona to pick up the check, despite the high gas prices. It's supposed to be so beautiful there !
Please respond soon so we can inform the media of you largess and you and John can benefit politically. I know that this is very important to you.
God Bless you and these United States of America !

Adds that Obama “is a nice person. He’s smart; he’s intelligent. He writes well. He’s very charismatic.”
Says Palin’s treatment from her critics has also been “ridiculous.”
NEW YORK -- Senator Orrin Hatch, a conservative Utah Republican, today defended Barack Obama from what Hatch called ``ridiculous'' charges that Obama had insulted GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin with the use of an age-old expression, ``lipstick on a pig.''
------------------------------ ----
``I think it's ridiculous, what they've said about Sarah Palin,'' Hatch said, referring to criticisms of her fitness for the White House. But to suggest that Democratic nominee Obama was calling Palin a ``pig?'' Just as silly, Hatch said.
``I think it's ridiculous to make too much of Barack Obama [and his comments about the McCain campaign message]. I'm sure he didn't mean it that way, the way it's being interpreted,'' Hatch said in a brief interview after he formally announced a sweeping national service bill he authored with his Democratic friend and colleague, Massachusetts Senator Edward M. Kennedy.
While Hatch said he is committed to electing GOP nominee John McCain, ``Barack Obama is a nice person. He's smart; he's intelligent. He writes well. He's very charismatic.'' Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden, who has served with Hatch for decades in the US Senate, is ``a very fine human being,'' Hatch added.
While both nominees reverted back to their increasingly combative campaign today, Hatch urged all of his colleagues to work on a bipartisan basis, as Hatch has frequently done with Kennedy.
``Ted Kennedy is the lion of the Senate. As much as Republicans make a fuss against him, every one of us are praying for his safe return to the Senate in January,'' Hatch said earlier, addressing a summit of Servicenation, a national service group.

Bottom line being this might be the classic case of peaking too early. No way McCain holds on for over a month. At some point people start paying attention and when that happens he'll be in trouble. It's a funny thing about facts. They always seem to get in the way of John McCain.

An absurd claim about a bill that never passed
John McCain released an ad this week making the accusation that Barack Obama supports sex education for five-year-olds.
Here's what the ad says:
"Education Week says Obama 'hasn't made a significant mark on education,' that he's 'elusive' on accountability, a 'staunch defender of the existing public school monopoly.'
Obama's one accomplishment? Legislation to teach 'comprehensive sex education' to kindergartners.
Learning about sex before learning to read? Barack Obama. Wrong on education. Wrong for your family."
Here, we'll check the claim that Obama wants five-year-olds to learn about sex. We've checked what Education Week said in a separate item and found it Barely True.
The origins of this claim go back to Obama's days as a state senator in the Illinois General Assembly.
In 2003, the Assembly considered a bill to expand sex education directives from grades 6 through 12 to grades K through 12. The legislation required the curriculum to be medically accurate and include information on the prevention of HIV and contraceptives. It also said abstinence must be taught and that students "shall be encouraged to base their actions on reasoning, self-discipline, sense of responsibility, self-control, and ethical considerations, such as respect for oneself and others."
Most pertinent to the kindergarten allegation, the legislation states that "course material and instruction shall be age and developmentally appropriate."
Carol Ronen, the now-retired state senator who sponsored the bill, said its main intent was to make sure that teenagers got information that was "medically accurate," a requirement that wasn't then part of the school code. A secondary effect was to expand age-appropriate sex education down to lower grades, to allow things like teaching school children to avoid sex predators, Ronen said.
"Barack never had anything to do with it," she said. "This is a lot of hoopla."
Obama voted for the legislation in committee on a party-line vote. He was not a sponsor nor a co-sponsor, and the legislation never made it to a full Senate vote. So calling it one of his accomplishments is wrong, since it never became law and it wasn't his bill anyway.

I am not throwing blind love but I choose not to trash a campaign that has gotten this far without having you on the payroll. Obviously their ad team is doing something right. Every ad has a different purpose. If the Obama team was run by some of you that complain all the time it would have never even taken off. I follow Obama's mantra. No Drama. Barack Obama approves these ads. Are you saying he doesn't know what he is doing? You guys know more than Barack Obama(lol).

No campaign is perfect. No candidate is perfect. Obama has said this many times -- he has made mistakes and the campaign has made mistakes.
I also agree that what matters most is to focus on what WE CAN DO which is canvass, make phone calls, and help fund the ads we DO think are effective, whether from the campaign or Planned Parenthood or Move On or some other organization.

If there's lipstick on a pig, it's this McCain ad
The story begins, like so many these days, with Gov. Sarah Palin’s speech at the Republican National Convention last week. Having stirred the crowd to its feet more than once, Palin delivered a knockout line when she deadpanned:
“I love those hockey moms. You know the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick.”
The line drew cheerful applause and has echoed ever since, which seems to explain how Sen. Barack Obama found himself in the middle of an uproar when he uttered a time-worn phrase to denigrate Sen. John McCain’s proclaimed agenda for “change” in Washington.
"John McCain says he's about change, too," Obama said. "And so I guess his whole angle is, 'Watch out, George Bush! Except for economic policy, health care policy, tax policy, education policy, foreign policy, and Karl Rove-style politics, we're really going to shake things up in Washington.'"
"That's not change," Obama said. "That's just calling something the same thing something different. But you know, you can put lipstick on a pig. It's still a pig. You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change, it’s still going to stink after eight years. We’ve had enough of the same old thing."
Gasp! He just said lipstick! Did he just call Sarah Palin a pig??!!!
That’s the charge.
Later that day, the McCain campaign arranged a conference call for reporters with Jane Swift, the former governor of Massachusetts. She said that when you add up Obama’s comments and Palin’s comments, you get Obama calling Palin a pig. Swift said Obama should apologize.
“Calling a very prominent female governor of one of our states a ‘pig’ is not exactly what we want to see,” Swift said.
The issue has dominated the presidential campaign for two days, with the McCain campaign stirring a controversy by having local lawmakers call for Obama to apologize, and the Obama campaign responding with examples of how often he and others have used the phrase. The next day, Obama called the McCain’s campaign tactics “lies and phony outrage and Swift-boat politics.”

‘’If the facts about Mccain are negative, but still facts, then it's not an attack.
I don't think anyone wants Obama to stoop down to the Rove/Mccain level. They lie. They play the race card. Their tactics are unsavory all around.
Obama just needs some ads that point to the REAL McCain, the angry McCain, the McCain who's driven by ambition (his own words), the Mccain who thinks 'bomb bomb bomb Iran' is funny, the McCain who wants to overturn Roe v Wade, the Mccain who votes against women's issues again and again.....so much more.
They can use his own words or the words of other Republicans as Mccain did with Clinton and Biden.
I don't think that's selling out. It's politics and it's about winning.’’ EZPZ

I agree, there are respectful ways to hit back. I'm glad they are not stooping to Rovian politics, like, for example, making it widely known that John McCain left his first wife after she got messed up in a car wreck. Of course, first he cheated on his wife with Cindy, a lobbyist who worked for him, then left her all together.
I'm really glad we don't go there and glad we don't talk about it on this blog. We can win this election without talking about how he left his first wife because she got messed up in a car wreck.

Palin "fired Wasilla’s Police Chief because he 'intimidated' her."
A chain e-mail making the rounds claims to offer an insider's look at Sarah Palin during her days as mayor of Wasilla. The copy of the e-mail we've received is genuine. It was written by Wasilla resident Anne Kilkenny, a homemaker and longtime observer of Wasilla municipal government.
Kilkenny makes numerous factual claims in her e-mail. (Read it for yourself here.) Here, we are checking her statement that Palin "fired Wasilla’s Police Chief because he 'intimidated' her, she told the press."
There is no doubt that Palin fired the top cop of Wasilla in early 1997, a few months after taking office. Multiple news reports and a federal lawsuit confirm this.
The Anchorage Daily News reported that Palin delivered letters to Police Chief Irl Stambaugh and City Librarian Mary Ellen Emmons on Jan. 30, 1997, saying their employment with the city would end. The reports said Palin took the action because she felt the two did not fully support the changes that she wanted to make as the newly elected mayor. Both Stambaugh and Emmons had publicly supported Palin's political opponent, incumbent mayor John Stein, in the 1996 mayoral campaign, the reports noted.
The day after notifying them of their dismissals, however, Palin changed her mind about the city librarian and allowed her to stay.
She did not change her mind about Stambaugh, though. He decided to sue the city in federal court for wrongful termination.
Palin wrote a memo to Stambaugh and his attorney on Feb. 7, 1997, outlining in greater specificity the reasons she fired Stambaugh. The memo, stamped "confidential," is part of the case file from the lawsuit, portions of which the Seattle Times posted online after Palin was named the Republican vice presidential nominee.
Palin reiterates in the memo that she did not feel like she had Stambaugh's "full support" after working with him for 3½ months. She outlined a number of instances in which he either disagreed with her or was reluctant to implement her directions.
According to Palin's memo, Stambaugh refused to search his budget for areas to be cut. He also was reluctant to provide her with weekly memos on "positive things" that were happening in his department. He failed to tell her about a meeting that she had been expected to attend. He spoke with a "disrespectful and condescending" tone at staff meetings.

My question is why does the media let JM get away with this answer. Do you really believe that if there were TH Mccain will not have negative attack ads. I mean JM lies so much and can say anything and gets away with it. Negative attack Ads are is the way Repubs win elections. Both Bush 1 and 2 won elections on negative campignng.

THESE DEBATES GOING! I really don't understand what the delay is. McCain's going to drag and drag and drag his feet because they know he's going to look like an idiot when face-to-face with Obama. But time is going by so fast and we're like what...6 weeks away and now McCain leads in the polls? The public needs to weigh these two (and the Veeps) pound for pound on the same screen at the same time. I feel like when it comes to the last 2 months each presidential election year, the democrats start playing by the Karl Rove/Republican rules and we allow them to run the show.

It's easy for me to go to Washington and frankly, be somewhat divorced from the day-to-day challenges people have."
These McCain comments are a gift. This is gold. Let's make full use of it.
We should put out the word to all our surrogates that this is the focus today and that these words need to be repeated over and over again. (one thing the repubs have done well is message discipline - we need to do this as well and make sure everyone is on the same page and that, by repitition, the comments get through to the general public).
We also need to follow this up with an ad.
I know Barack hit it today but let's make sure the surrogates and advertising back Barack up.

One reason that McCain's "drill here, drill now!" mantra has stuck is that people don't realize what a pitiful amount of oil offshore drilling really would produce. I have seen estimates of a maximum of 200,000 bbl/d (barrels per day). This sounds like a lot, but compared to the world production of about 87 million bbl/d it's basically nothing. So here is a visual that I think might help frame the issue:
U.S. offshore drilling will produce the equivalent of 3 oz of gas for every time you fill up your car. In 2020.
This is assuming a 12 gallon gas tank. (actually, it's 3.5 oz, but 3 oz is close enough, and has the added advantage that with the airline regulations regarding liquids, people know very well how much (or little) 3 oz is. Plus, no one ever runs their tank completely dry, so it's not dishonest). Some possible ways to use it in a commercial:
* A long line of cars are pulled up at the "McCain Energy Plan" gas station, where every driver is handed a 3 oz bottle of gasoline.
* A man hands his glum-looking four-year-old daughter a 3 oz bottle of gas, drawfed by a large bow tied around it, exclaiming "Happy sixteenth birthday, sweetie! It's from John McCain!"
* The camera pans across a row of containers of decreasing size, at the end settling on a tiny bottle marked "McCain Energy Plan; Gasoline, 3 oz.; Do Not Open Before 2020"
A voice over asks "How much gas will John McCain's plan really give you at the pump? A quarter tank? A gallon? A quart?" with the answer being 3 oz.
This negative part of the ad should then be juxtaposed with Obama's energy plan, showing real people working hard to produce energy through solar, wind, biomass, even nuclear sources. The punchline: "Barack Obama's Energy Plan: Real solutions, not just gimmicks!"
The 3 oz gas bottle could also be a useful prop when you canvas, to be handed out at campaign events etc. If they are bold enough, the candidates and their surrogates could even use it on the stump.
What do you think?

Now, from Bloomberg News, more questionable ethics issues have surfaced:
Palin's office approved a state job for a friend and campaign aide with whom she shared a land investment, financial records and interviews over the past two weeks show. She hired a former lobbyist for a pipeline company to help oversee a multibillion-dollar deal with that same company.
She named a police chief accused of harassment to head the state police. And she sent campaign e-mails on her city hall account while serving as mayor of Wasilla -- conduct for which she later turned in an oil commissioner on ethics charges.
These incidents raise ``some serious questions about her judgment and serious questions about her standards of ethics in public service,'' said James Thurber, director of American University's Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies in Washington. Suggesting a real estate investment partner for a job ``may be acceptable in Alaska; it would not be acceptable in Washington, D.C., a place whose norms she wants to change.''

Sep 12th 2008 at 3:00 pm EDT (Updated Sep 12th 2008 at 3:00 pm EDT)
From the Huffinton!
"His Divorced From Reality". Now this should give us all pause!!
The Obama campaign is jumping all over a line from John McCain, in which the Arizona Republican suggested that time in Washington had made it easier from him to be out of touch with everyday concerns.
"I think John McCain is right about John McCain," said Rep. Rahm Emanuel, a fellow Chicagoan known for his brass-knuckled politics. "He has been there so long that is why he has voted 90 percent of the time with George Bush and that why his staff is bogged down by lobbyists that represent special interests."
McCain's alleged gaffe came Thursday night at Columbia University during a service forum featuring both candidates.
"It's easy for me to go to Washington," said the Senator, "and frankly, be somewhat divorced from the day-to-day challenges people have."
Watch:
McCain was actually lauding the accomplishments of governors and mayors like his running mate, Sarah Palin. Indeed, later in the forum, Obama made a similar statement of his own, though hardly the first person admission that Washington had made him "divorced" from reality.
"Well listen," said the Senator, "we had an awful lot of small-town mayors at the Democratic Convention, I assure you. I meet them all the time. And I have -- the mayors have some of the toughest jobs in the country, because that's where the rubber hits the road. We yak in the Senate. They actually have to fill potholes and trim trees and make sure the garbage is taken away."
And while GOP officials jumped at that remark, they didn't have the material (or the zest) that Democrats used in criticizing McCain.
In addition to hitting the Republican nominee for his comments, Emanuel and Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin accused the Republican nominee of waging a dirty campaign, perpetuating the policies of George W. Bush. They even brought up, as Obama did in a campaign ad released Friday morning, McCain's admission that he is illiterate when it comes to the Internet.
"He has admitted he doesn't know how to use a computer or the Internet," said Emanuel. "There is a whole economic revolution going on and it fundamentally changed the economy and people's lives and he is removed from it."

But the real red meat for the Obama surrogates was McCain's comment from the service forum. An aide, in private, called it a major gaffe that could be used to badger the Arizonan, along the lines of his admission that he doesn't know how many houses he owns. Durbin, too, portrayed it as a big misstep, one that fits into a preexisting narrative.
"I have been with John McCain in Washington, and I think what he said reflects the reality of many people," Durbin said. "But even worse is the situation that his economic policies that he wants to continue with George Bush have failed. If he would, you know, be in the real world of American families in New York, Illinois or Florida, he would understand that."
I will say this only once so listen up! (-: |

For what it's worth here's my tuppence worth.
Action Wildlife and Planned Parenthood have just produced two excellent, really hard hitting ads.
They are ads that are best not directly connected with the BO campaign. Why? One is talking about child abuse the other is pretty gory.
The two ads produced by the BO campaign are a perfect match for the BO temperament and message. (Computer and change) The upcoming one re lobbyists is a bit more on target.
This is exactly how I would play it. I'd get a bit more noisy, a bit more dramatic as time moves on.
The mistake the McCain camp is making is the ad's are trying so hard and are so far removed from actuality and truth that they are desensitising and their effect will reduce in direct relationship to the number of ads they put out.
If you get me drift....you don't want to get all 'dramatic' early and you certainly don't want to do it based on untruths that are easily debunked. That's the McCain camps mistake.
So there is a strategy, lt might not be your or my strategy but just let it play out.

I think that is a great idea. Below is an excerpt from an article I found in the NYT.
"ACCURACY -- The Bush campaign was infuriated by recent McCain advertisements that said that Senator McCain was the only Republican candidate with foreign policy experience and that Mr. Bush's tax-cut plan devoured the entire budget surplus and favored the rich. Adding insult was a McCain commercial that implicitly compared Mr. Bush to President Clinton. (It asked, ''Do we really want another politician in the White House America can't trust?'')
On campaign finance, Mr. McCain does solicit and accept hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations from lobbyists and others with interests before the Senate Commerce Committee, which he heads. In December he did exert pressure on the Federal Communications Commission to act quickly on a television license sought by a major contributor, Paxson Communications. Mr. McCain has used the Paxson corporate jet for political travel, but he denies exerting improper influence on the company's behalf."

I was watching a semi-documentary on John McCain a few days ago. Part of the reason why some Democrats thought that he was a maverick was because he was in revenge mode against his party. It was not a true bucking of his party in Washington. They had treated him like crap and he went out of his way to stick a needle in their eye. It was after he felt disrespected, that he went on the bucking party/voting rampage. He even discussed his anger at that period of time.
The republican party has done a major purging of their party. They have been inching closer and closer to the farther right than ever before. I have followed a few primaries over the past few years, and noticed that the 'more to the right candidates seemed to win their Republican primaries. People that were perceivied as RINO are mostly gone. The moderates are struggling.
Can anyone tell me the name of a true liberal Republican? Yeah, at one time, there was such a thing. I am not a liberal, but I do recall a few of those Republicans in congress some years back.

Spreading the Word
Last week’s video on Palin’s wolf killing record has already been viewed more than 68,000 times on YouTube!
Dear Tina,
We’re getting the word out to voters about Governor Sarah Palin’s barbaric record on killing America’s wildlife, especially her active promotion of the brutal aerial hunting of wolves and bears.
Since Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund released our hard-hitting video on her support for the wolf slaughter last week…
Nearly 450,000 potential voters have read our email!
More than 68,000 potential voters have viewed the video on YouTube, with many more spread the word by re-posting the video on their websites and blogs and forwarding it to friends.
CNN and other news outlets have picked up the story, running clips from Defenders of Wildlife Action fund and our sister organization Defenders of Wildlife.
To reach hundreds of thousands of swing voters who will help decide this election, we’ve created a powerful new television spot detailing Governor Palin’s efforts to kill wolves and bears. But we can only run it with your financial help today.
Click here to watch our new television ad on Governor Palin’s support for aerial hunting and help us run it on television stations starting in Ohio, one of the handful of swing states that will decide the election.
Warning: This television ad -- like the governor’s support for this brutal practice -- is disturbing.
Tina, running a television ad during an election year is expensive. We need to raise $100,000 by September 17th to run this ad and support our work to provide a voice for endangered wildlife.
We’ve had hundreds of calls and emails from our supporters urging us to get the word out on Governor Palin’s bounty proposal to reward wolf killers with a $150 check and her support for aerial hunting of wolves and bears. Please donate $40 or whatever you can afford today to help us raise the funds we need to get the word out.
We have plenty of work to do.

McCain has embraced these negative and untruthful political tactics to get elected. He has sold his soul to the same people who smeared him in 2000. This is not honorable.

Sep 12th 2008 at 3:07 pm EDT (Updated Sep 12th 2008 at 3:07 pm EDT)
Barack was quite good at the today Town Hall meeting in Dover, NH, which ended roughly 1 hours ago. I was just coming back home, and when I saw there was a live stream, I was at once listening. It was the questions time.
I appreciated a lot how he managed with the woman speaking of the name the european (former Yugoslavia)state of "Macedonia" should take or not take. She was not stopping, reading a whole letter, on an international, and mainly european issue, which is not simple and not a main issue in the US. She was not an heckler, but the result was a little bit the same. He managed pretty well, stopping her politely but firmly. He told her to give him the letter, that he will read it, but that he want all the people to have the time to ask questions.
It was not an important point, but such details confirm he is ready to lead !
When he answered union workers, he got a big run of applauses.
He said also the media are only interested in 4 things, 1) polls 2) scandals 3) gaffes 4) attacks, but that himself want to stay in issues, but will answer smears.
I also noticed how he was listening to deep personal stories poeple told him, like the woman who told him her and her husband had to divorce to be abble to qualify for social security, particularly as they have to take care of a child with special needs. A usual in such a case, you can see on his face how he is really listening to the person and how he is moved. He really pay attention to the people.

Has Barack stated in public recently how many debates with Mccain he agreed to? McCain is trying to make Barack look scared.
What annoys me the most when McCain keeps repeating that this negative campaigning wouldn't have happened if only Barack agreed to "HIS" terms about the debates. It's like a parent punishing a child for not doing what they tell them to....THAT IS NOT HOW A LEADER OF A NATION should act. There would be many people that are not going to listen to a president ....I guess punishing, or perhaps going to war or FIRING someone that doesn't do exactly what you say is justified or admirable. I guess Sarah and John see eye to eye on this issue....

Hello everyone,
And this is EXACTLY why they are SOOO quiet. It seems like Sen. Obama only has us (his supporters), and a few other surrogates to help him out. Almost no one comes out in his defense with the exception of Tim Kaine, and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. There may be a few more, but I see absolutely NONE of the "SENIOR" members of the Democratic Party coming to bat for him like I think they should. At least the Clintons will be helping out more thank goodness. ~SIGH~, November 4, can't come fast enough for me.

Yep. Sometimes I feel like McBush was right about some of Obama's supporters. They're as fickle as fans. Running around screaming about how Obama needs to do this, needs better surrogates, needs this, needs that. I could tell that half of the battle was lack of unity for him. I could tell that he didn't have many established Dems on his side. He's doing this all alone, and once he wins, to hell with the establishment. They will not be able to enjoy this victory and the spoils that come with it.

I was just talking to my in-laws, who haven't decided whether they are going to vote. My FIL asks, so what do you think of SP?"
My response "I don't"
I think about how scared I am that someone who had his parties nomination long ago, picked SP on a whim, for purely political reasons. Barack picked a running mate that would challenge him and give him honest answers when confronted with a major issues. Perhaps, someone who will provide an alternate view, another way of seeing an issue. McCain allowed Karl Rove to hand pick an extremist to charge 'the base'. Not only an extremist, but someone who does not share the views of the majority of this country. McCain allowed himself to be manipulated by others in making a quick, decision. One his campaign hadn't even fully explored. I'm sorry... did you really vet this person in 10 days?
It is more of the same. We've got someone in the White House who was manipulated by others into making quick decisions. It's painfully obvious who would run the show with a McCain Presidency, and it wouldn't be 'We the People'!!!!

First off, let me say to the people that are angry. I understand your anger. Some people handle passion in different ways than others. This election is certainly something to be passionate about. Not everyone uses their anger in a constructive manner. But here's something to consider: My Mema was a wise woman. She always said that "You draw more flies with honey than you do with vinegar". I've found this to be unfailingly true. I'm not a push-over, and I'm not someone that's going to sit back and do nothing when I'm passionate about something important. But I believe in Obama's campaign and his braintrust. He runs his campaign like a corporation and he has the final say on anything that comes from it. I think that he's using the right tactics. Sometimes I get angry and I want to go on the attack, but that's one thing that's different about our campaign (we don't do extreme-negative.) and I don't want to change that. Don't listen to the news, don't listen to the polls, try to put your head down and keep pushing for the endzone. If you still find yourself angry and you want to fight the opposition, hit'em where it hurts: Engage some swing voters in debate. Sway that pesky republican brother-in-law of yours to our side. Get some voters registered. Above all else, hit 'em in the pocket book. Donate! Let's all just take a deep breath and think things through. I don't want an angry, fire-breathing, face on this campaign. That's why a lot of people don't have friendly debate or don't get engaged, they're afraid of the anger that might come from passion. This country as a whole is pretty darned middle of the road. How many times have you watched the news and saw 2 panelist with opposite views getting angry and trying to out-scream each other? When I see that, I change the channel. The undecideds will change the channel on us if we get too angry and too negative. Please be positive, yaw! We've come a LONG way. If you're still angry and you want to send an angry donation to my FR page, please do! Just remember, it's not democrat's votes we're going after, it's undecideds. Let's not scare them off! In my opinion, there will be 4 key things that will bring Barack the victory on Nov. 4th, 3 of them were gifts from McSame.
1. The VP pick. Yes, there is a fan base, but too many bad things out there make this an uneasy pick for Independents. McSame is no longer McCain and has moved too far to the right to offset his VP pick. She also fired the Democrats up just as much as she did to the Republicans.
Evidence: $10 million in donations in 24hrs after the "speech"
2. The mock on Community Organizers. Fired up the young and young at heart who take pride in making their communities better. This was not a partisan issue and they turned it into one. Moderate Republicans were turned off by this and we were encouraged to show McSame how a community of Community Organizers are going to kick his ass this November.
3. The Ads. 2 in particular by the McCain camp have taken the spotlight off of their star all by themselves and turned the media against them.
The "Lipstick on a Pig" flap pissed the media off because it was basically calling them stupid to their face. They are slow, but they too have egos. It made his "media base" forget the AZ bar-b-ques and start to point out all the other lies they had been trying to be so "fair" about. The fake outrage was blatant and the media refused to be played for dummies on that one. Even they said, "ENOUGH!"
The other was the "Sex Ed" ad. Turning something so positive as trying to protect children from sexual predators into insinuating he was trying to pass a law to teach 5 year olds about sex and implying Barack was some type of pervert made the media look at themselves, their sleeping children, their fears about the most heinous of crimes and made them say "HELL NO!" Even to criminals and people in jail, child sexual abuse is the biggist sin. McCain overplayed the fear card and it will bite him in the ass for the remainder of the campaign.
4. Now all we need to do is STAY POSITIVE, KNOCK ON DOORS, CALL, CANVASS, DONATE AND WORK OUR BUTTS OFF! Barack will take care of his part, HQ will take care of theirs and WE WILL WIN THIS THING!!!!

To Team Obama: You probably have a million people telling you what they think you should do. So call it a million and one. Do what you do best - big rallies in battleground states. They should be "Service" rallies. Let us volunteers do more than knock on doors. Let a good number of us work for habitat for humanity and do other things for the community. Let's change the world now by changing the rules and the way campaigns are fought. Sure you have to respond in kind and be tough, but why rely on the air war when the goal is a new kind of politics? Punch back hard, but also change the game. I thought that’s why we’re here. Have rallies and speakers talking about service and have REAL PEOPLE talking about their struggles. ACTUALLY MAKE THE CAMPAIGN ABOUT US. This will give the media something else to talk about, besides smears and lies. Space them out leading up to election day. Fight back on the air, but get the ground game going this way and get people excited again. Attracting 35,000 people to a rally once or twice a week will out shine the other side and force the media to give air time to issues. You're inoculated from the charge of celebrity now, so use it. Challenge the Republicans to help build 1000 homes for struggling families together with us. That's real change we can believe in. In short, be a leader for change now.

LADYT FROM CHESAPEAKE, VA
Sep 12th 2008 at 3:32 pm EDT (Updated Sep 12th 2008 at 3:32 pm EDT)
What ever happened to John McCain's promise to run a "clean and respectable campaign?"
Desperate to win the White House in his second attempt, Sen. McCain is undermining this election by unleashing lies and smears against Barack Obama during the GOP party convention, on the stump with his running mate, Sarah Palin, and in a series of television commercials that are so blatantly false, it's hard to even recall the John McCain of 2000.
The piggish campaign that McCain is running has rolled this presidential race straight into the gutter. Stunningly, McCain defended his 'kill-baby seal tactics' by blaming Obama -- clearly, the victim though hardly a baby seal -- during the National Service presidential forum in New York City Thursday night.
Still insisting that he is running a campaign based on issues, McCain got a little hot under the collar when he was questioned about the "tone" of the campaign, saying:
"First of all this is a tough business...Second of all, I think the tone of this whole campaign would've been very different if Sen. Obama had accepted my request for us to appear at town hall meetings all over America."
This is the same kind of reasoning abusive men use to justify administering the bruises and broken bones that land their wives in emergency rooms. "It was her fault. She made me do it!"
What a bully! What a whiner!
Naturally, the courtly moderators let him off the hook. McCain is a war hero, you know.
Factcheck.org has analyzed the McCain ad, "Lipstick," among others that are charging sexism by the Obama campaign and using quotes out of context.
The Obama press office blasted an email to journalists early this morning with a review of "Lashing Out," the latest McCain ad:
The new McCain-Palin ad ... begins like an earlier ad we criticized, with its reference to Barack Obama's celebrity, but then goes down new paths of deception. It takes quotes from news organizations and uses them out of context in an effort to portray Obama and his running mate, Joe Biden, as unfairly attacking Sarah Palin and making sexist remarks. ...
Sen. Obama is hitting back with two new ads released today -- "Real Change" and "Still" -- hoping to get back on message and to wrestle back the 'change' theme that has been hijacked by McCain and Palin.

The swiftboating of McCain in 2000.
"Bush surrogates (several later involved in the Kerry swiftboating effort) skillfully turned McCain's service record against him (thereby deflecting questions about Bush's own service record.) They planted stories that the torture McCain suffered as a POW had brought about mental instability, including rumors that he had been programmed as a "Manchurian candidate" who "collaborated with the enemy." No longer could McCain use the fact that he had endured torture as evidence of dedication to serving his country."

Obama Advancing On The Ground, Under Pollsters' Radar |
Report to Admin

LADYT FROM CHESAPEAKE, VA

It increasingly looks as though this close election may be determined by investments on the ground, in local precincts across the country, an area of the campaign that Barack Obama's organization and supporters have excelled at.
But this is not the type of edge pollsters pick up on, making any metrics concerning the ground game that much more valuable. Most of the data we have seen up to now has looked at shifts in voter’s party affiliations. That tells us how many more (or less) voters are registered as Democrats or Republicans, but not much about new voters, as much of these partisan shifts are due to already-registered voters changing their affiliation. These new voters are one of the key weapons of the Obama campaign, and one of the reasons he won the Democratic nomination. Now, Time provides us this very useful table of voters who have newly registered from January to July 2008, and the numbers are very encouraging for the Obama campaign. More than 3 million voters registered in that period, and while a lot of them are not Democrats, Time’s table shows that these new voters are registering as Democrats at much higher than normal proportion; also, a disproportionate number of new registrants are under 35, Obama’s strongest demographic group.
The most impressive numbers come from Florida (441,225 new voters, 45% of which are Democrats and half of which are under 35), Michigan (where 63% of the 411,207 new voters are under 35), North Carolina (429,059 new voters, 49% of which are Democrats and 55% of which are under 35) and Pennsylvania (where an outstanding 67% of the 286,255 new voters are Democrats and 69% are under 35). Remarkable numbers as well out of Nevada (where 110,124 new voters is a lot considering the state’s size, especially as 53% of them are new voters) and Ohio (65% of the 255,587 new voters are under 35).
In some of these states, a lot of work was done during the primary season. In others, these gains are due to Obama’s general election effort. And Democrats should feel even better that these numbers only cover the period ending in July. The campaign is sure to continue voter registration until the deadlines start coming up in late September/early October. In other words, the final numbers are likely to be much higher than they are now.

3 or 4 pointers against McCain (e.g. did not vote for the GI bill, did not approve money for Katrina, he is anti-women, lobbyist supported campaign, did not know the difference between x and y, cannot use a PC)
Next, show 3 or 4 of Barack's major positives- e.g. president of Harvard law review, two major bills passed in collaboration with other senators, he supports womens rights, universal health care and tax breaks for the middle class and the poor.
This will show the contrast between the two candidates.

Tim Johnson: Palin's Experience Claims "Laughable," McCain "Hard To Work With"
In an interview with the Huffington Post, Sen. Tim Johnson of South Dakota called Sarah Palin "not ready" to be vice president, referencing her recent statements on Russia and Iraq and her "laughable" experience arguments.
One enters Johnson's private hideaway office in the U.S. Capitol to find the Democrat sitting next to a stack of newspapers. While his staff is undergoing a wholesale office move this week, the Senator is working here, only a couple paces from the footpath of tourists, who stream steadily through the hallway just outside the small office's door.
Up for reelection this year in a deep-red state, the Senator was eager to talk politics. Declaring himself unimpressed with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's first interview with Charles Gibson Thursday night, Johnson called her "not ready" to lead the country as vice president. "And this idea that she has national security experience because of the Alaska National Guard, it's just laughable," he added. On the topic of Russia, Johnson said he would have been comforted if her statements in support of a possible war with the nuclear power had been joined "with some discussion of diplomacy."
Nodding toward the pile of newsprint, Johnson said Palin "thinks Iraq had something to do with Sept. 11," a reference to a Friday Washington Post article in which the Alaska Republican is quoted telling soldiers headed for deployment that they would soon be "defend[ing] the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans."
"I don't know what else you can do except just keep repeating the facts on Iraq," Johnson said. "I do it until I'm blue in the face."

Planned Parenthood defends Barack Obama's record on sex education after a nasty John McCain ad suggesting the Democrat supports teaching kindergartners about sex. In an ad, they say that Obama was helping children protect themselves from sex offenders, while McCain seemingly doesn't care.
"Every eight minutes a child is sexually abused," the narrator says. "That's why Barack Obama supported legislation to teach children how to protect themselves. Now John McCain is twisting the facts and attacking Senator Obama. Doesn't McCain want our children to protect ourselves from sex offenders? Or after 26 years in Washington, is he just another politician who will say anything to get elected?"

THIS IS A CONTEST OF VISIONS... NOT PARTIES |

Somebody said to me that they thought Obama had a dark side... secretly, I wondered if they were unconsciously being influenced by race, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I responded that if I were to guess his dark side it would be a sense of deep dissatisfaction. He is such an idealist, and he is so focused on how the world should be that he must be frustrated by the contrast from how it actually is. I identify with this. There isn't a single day that goes by where I don't see something on the news and become disappointed in how little compassion we have. My generation (30-50) has been such a "me first" generation. We haven't lived in a time where people stand up for what is right with a concerted effort to lift others up or improve this world for our children. Our parents did, and I think some of us look at that... look at what was accomplished in the civil rights movement and the feminist movement... all of the amazing things that happened as we came into this world, and we feel disappointed. I for one am not comfortable living a legacy of "me first" or of being satisfied with what my children will inherit. We still have a long way to go in creating an America that resembles that "ideal".
One of the things Obama discusses in his book is his restlessness... how no matter what he accomplishes, he becomes restless... gets a sense that it isn't enough because we are more than individuals, and our responsibilities are more than individual responsibilities. I almost dropped the book... that resonated so strongly. If you don't have that, you probably aren't really in it to change anything.... that passion is essential. Bush has it... and he has certainly created change, but it is the wrong kind of change. I don't think McCain has it. Maybe that is the intangible "it" factor in elections? I know Obama has "it", but I think it is difficult for people to identify with his brand of change. So many are still clinging to "me first." This is really a battle of two visions. Our generation needs to find its legacy... speak to that and we will win!

As a Catholic, I think Sen. Barack Obama is the best candidate for President of the United States. I say this not despite, but rather because of his nuanced position on abortion. As we see a resurgence of the culture wars in this election, particularly in the days following "pro-life" Gov. Sarah Palin's selection as Sen. John McCain's running mate, my past experience as a conservative Catholic single-issue voter seems relevant. I'm writing this for my sisters and brothers who still are those kinds of Catholic voters.
I started my freshman year at Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, when I was barely 17, skipping my senior year of high school in my enthusiasm to get started on Catholic higher education. I quickly joined Students for Life, the campus pro-life group, and began spending Saturday mornings with 6 am mass and an hour drive to Pittsburgh to pray in front of the abortion clinic. That first year I was a bus captain on the trip to Washington, D.C. for the March for Life, as well as head of the Students for Life Prayer Team. I was interviewed on the conservative Catholic TV station
EWTN as a young pro-life leader.
On my breaks from school, I worked at my hometown's Catholic bookstore, where I reorganized the books based on theological theme and offered customers advice about saints, prayer, and the like. I also volunteered at the local crisis pregnancy center, where we offered free pregnancy tests, infant formula, children's clothing, and other services to help women who were pregnant and needed extra support. I went to daily mass and weekly confession, as I had since high school. I marched in the occasional local abortion protest. I read theology in my free time.
I was, in other words, the perfect Steubenville Catholic student: devoted to my prayer life, diligent in my studies, involved in student life, and passionate about the pro-life cause.
My Steubenville honeymoon was not to last, however. For while I prayed for an end to abortion and the conversion of souls, I also saw the depressed ex-steel town in which the university resided, and I felt a disconnect between the spiritual fervency on campus and the poverty surrounding it.

To David Plouffe, David Axelrod, and Barack Obama:
*PLEASE DO NOT DISREGARD*
I KNOW HOW YOU CAN BEAT MCCAIN IN THESE RIDICULOUS AD WARS IN 3 SIMPLE ADVERTISING STEPS:
THEME: MCCAIN CANNOT BE TRUSTED
1) FOR EACH AND EVERY NEGATIVE AD THE MCCAIN CAMP RUNS - Run the exact negative ad (LITERALLY, THEIR VERSION), but pause after each false claim and have Obama, Biden, Hillary, or some other effective female spokesperson point out what is distorted and false about each claim. For example: REPUBLICAN AD... Sarah Palin was viciously harrassed by dirt diggers in the Obama campaign.... now pause - (Claire McCaskil - this claim in false - Barack Obama handled this with matter with respect for her as a woman, governor, and mother...maybe even play the clip of Obama saying families are off limits)... continue their ad they said she was good looking... pause (play full context of Biden's remarks - or Hillary/ any woman saying what Biden actually said)... they even called her a liar...actually nobody called her a liar, we just pointed out the fact that she lied about the bridge to nowhere etc.)
- I hope you get the idea. Play their exact Ads (not your version of them) with a point by point setting the record straight - and at the end have Barack and Biden explain why these are dirty tricks to distract the attention from what matters in the lives of Americans, remind them that this is what George W. Bush did, and remind them why they elect presidents. AND PLEASE TIGHTEN DOWN ON THE LAG TIME.

2) RUN CONSTANT AND CONSISTENT ADS MAKING THIS SIMPLE CASE (USE OLD AND CURRENT VIDEO CLIPS AND THIRD PARTY CONFIRMATION):
- BUSH LIED WHEN CAMPAIGNING - AND HE LIED ABOUT WAR WHEN HE WAS IN OFFICE
- MCCAIN LIES ABOUT EVERYTHING WHEN CAMPAIGNING, THEREFORE HE WILL LIE ABOUT ANYTHING IF HE GETS ELECTED
3) Run Substanative Ads on the issues simultaneously. Stress the 95% Tax Cut (acknowledge McCain's attempts to lie about Obama's position on this EVERY TIME). Explain HOW they will lower Gas Prices (Not just energy independence (that term is becoming stale - most people don't even understand the dynamics) I know its hard in one ad, but I know you can do it). Explain HOW you will protect them from terrorists. At the end of each substanative ad, remind them that McCain is deliberately attempting to turn their attention away from substance, just like George Bush did, because he thinks it will help him win like it did Bush.
One last thing. Get more Obama serrogates out there and keep them on this message - MCCAIN CANNOT BE TRUSTED, BECAUSE HE LIES IN HIS CAMPAIGN JUST LIKE BUSH DID, AND EVERYONE KNOWS BUSH LIED AFTER HE GOT ELECTED TOO! Have them on every show on every network - every day. Tell them to attack McCain on his tactics and dishonesty, tell them not to be nice. Tim Kaine is too nice, I'm sorry. Evan Bayh is too nice. Get the tough ones on the TV shows, so Barack can focus on what he's best at SUBSTANCE, HOPE, AND CHANGE. He needs help from Serrogates to take on the Smear and he needs a lot of it, and he needs it now!
DO NOT COUNT ON THE MEDIA TO DO THIS FOR YOU. THEY WON'T. FOR THE SAKE OF THIS COUNTRY - PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE. IF YOU THINK THERE ARE ENOUGH SERROGATES OUT THERE - YOU'RE WRONG. EVERY SINGLE DAY, EVERY SINGLE SHOW - MCCAINS MEAN SPIRITED FOLKS ARE OUT THERE TELLING LIES - WE NEED A MIKE TYSON ON OUR SIDE TO KNOCK THEM OUT. THAT'S HOW YOU WILL WIN AT THIS MEDIA MANIPULATION BS.
sorry for yelling :), but it's because I care deeply, and believe in Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

I think that the TV ads should be structured differently. They should be like this:
Get a film clip of John McCain saying "I dont know much about the economy" from his town hall meeting, then get the clip of John McCain saying, "I don't know how many houses I own," then get a clip of when he says something like "someone making $5M a year is considered wealthy" and then add the clip of John saying, "I depend on Cindy for the internet/computer" and then add the clip where he is critizing Sarah Palin for the bridge to nowhere funding. All of these things are out of his own mouth. I think it would be more effective. Anyone out there know how to you-tube it???

Although I have never been a fan of the Clintons, I must say that I have gained a new respect for them because of the way they are beginning to campaign for Barack. I have recently received an email from the Hillary camp and it was about women and health care and I signed her petition. It is the first time I have supported her. Her efforts for women are wonderful. I really never read them before. I think that all of Hillarys supporters should be furious that McCain picked Sarah just as a way of getting Hillarys voters. Sarah and Hillary are total opposites. They believe in everything different. Hillary is very intelligent, knows her facts, knows foreign countries and policies, has really been a true trailblazer and for her supporters, has fought hard for women, and to let this other woman come in at the tail end of this election and benefit from Hillarys hard work is ridiculous. Palin does not share anything at all with Hillary as far as politics go. They are like water and oil.
If the Clintons help Barack win, I believe HIllary can come back in 8 years and run again and this time she will win. She will have the support of all of Obamas supporters and she will have the support of all of her own supporters.
I think that women should be outraged by McCains pick. He is using a woman to win the white house. He never ever did anything with Palin. If she was so dynamic how come he never accomplised anything with her? The only thing John McCain ever said about Palin before this election was negative. He was angry with her over the bridge. Wake up LADIES you are being USED!

I just signed up today at BarackObama.com. I was born and raised in the eastern suburbs of Cincinnati and still live there today. I’m a 27yo white male, never attended college, and I’m self employed. Although I’ve always considered myself progressive and have followed politics voraciously from an early age, I’ve never voted in a single election, whether national, state, or local. I’ve always considered myself to be rather cynical and dubious of government/bureaucrats in general and politicians specifically. Barack and his historical campaign have stirred something inside me like no other political campaign beforehand. I registered last week and will be voting for the first time in my life this fall for Barack and Joe. I felt compelled to post today because I can see the way the Republicans are disgracefully trying to steer this election as they predictably do every four years.
I just wanted to say that from a ground level here in Ohio there’s a real urgency in the air. People, not just progressives, but a lot of independent minded folks I’ve talked with recently who are kind of reserved in our Midwestern way, have expressed to me the seriousness with which they are taking this election. There is a real visceral feeling I sense in them as they discuss with me just how much the election means this year. We’ve been through so much in our state over the past decade or so with the absolute decimation of the manufacturing base here. In 2006, after the disaster of Bob Taft and statewide Republican rule, Governor Ted Strickland won in a landslide.
From a purely personal level, from talking with people everyday, there is urgency for real change throughout our entire political system. People want that change, they crave the notion that a better day is upon us. I don’t know who actually reads these posts, but I implore anyone from the campaign to understand that Ohioans will vote for Barack if he just focuses in on the issues, especially the ECONOMY. I hate to be so blunt, but I feel as if the campaign really needs to TAKE THE GLOVES OFF! If Barack and Joe can make this election about the issues, as it should be, then there’s no stopping them. If you guys just HAMMER HOME BARACK’S PLAN FOR THE ECONOMY, he’ll win.

I will post reminders a few days before Sep 25 and the calendar will also send you a reminder the day before if you sign up. Please sign up for the event using the following link:

“… those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles….” (Isaiah 40:31).
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1).
P.S. We plan to have days of prayer for each of the debates (including the VP candidate debate) and on Nov 3 and 4.

For anyone who is interested, here is a mnemonic from Pastor Rick Warren (author of the bestselling book, “The Purpose-Driven Life”) that helps to structure prayer: P-R-A-Y.
(1) “P” is for Praise: First we should praise God
(2) “R” is for Repent. We should ask for forgiveness for our sins.
(3) “A” is for Ask. We should then make additional requests to God for others and ourselves.
(4) “Y” is for Yield. We should let God know we submit to His will.

This is just my pointof view, Joe Biden should take care of Palin as Mr. Obama focuses on McCain.
Here are a few Ad scenario both for Joe Biden and Sen Obama.
1------CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN
McCain at the National Service Forum said it takes someone who has been in Washington and knows how it works to change Washington. Sarah Palin has not been in Washington and obviously does not know how it works. Come on folks, this republican pair contradicts each other on every step on the sphere. Sen. Barack Obama and I, Joe Biden know how Washington work, it has not been working well for the last 8 years and that's why we are going to change it back to its normal course of action with your help of course.
I am Joe Biden and I approve this message
2------ 3 A.M ALERT
BREAKING NEWS: The US President is not feeling well...
It is 3 a.m. and your children are safely asleep. Some disturbing domestic news and around the world require the US President to intervene but he is not feeling well at this moment. The phone rings at the White House, which Vice President do you want to pick up the phone?
I am Barack Obama and I approve this message.
3------FOREIGN POLICY
At the interview with Charlie Gibson of ABC News, Sarah Palin said she never met a foreign head of state.
Fill the blank......................... .............................. ..........
.............................. .............................. .......................
.............................. .............................. .......................
Is she ready to step in the Oval Office and deal with these actors on day one? Folks, I don't think so.
I am Joe Biden and I approve this message.
This is just an excerpt of what I am can bring to the campaign and I believe we can win this Nov. Good luck to all of us.
Regards,

Hello all,
I support this ticket and Senator Obama heart and soul, but can no longer find the heart to donate my time or my money any longer! See my blog name....
Instead of these ads, Obama needs to attack! As Obama says: this election is too important! Instead of "Country First"--how about Obama saying, "Country Club First"! Instead of talking about the community organizing deal, how about running an ad showing volunteers at a Special Olympics events, volunteer firemen putting out fires, meals-on-wheels recipients and a voice-over that says "What does Senator McCain and his campaign have against community organizing?". How about in response to the "disrespectful" ad, coming back and saying "You're right, Senator McCain: we apologize to Gov Palin for upsetting her and you in anyway! We did not mean to question you or hurt your feelings. We didn't realize how sensitive you were. We value her. We value her fiestiness. We promise to only discuss her values and how to shoot a wolf, and how Russia looks from the beautiful Alaskan shores. We have made some contacts with the media in the past, and we will ask the new Pakistani president, and Medvedev, and Merkel to send her a gift basket with their warmest regards...." . Senator Obama, this is how you fight! You call them, quickly and for only a short time (before you move on to big ideas), on every ridiculous statement with ridiculous sarcasm, and have your advocates bash their policies and small ideas. Let's Go Barack. My family can't afford this. You have to tap into the righteous indignation this country has! Please don't let the majority become the minority ANY longer!

I hate to read in the media that we are "jittery," that we are losing faith. Hey, the reason the opposition has resorted to such dirty tactics is that they are afraid of us.
Keep the faith. Let's hear no more discouraging talk or words. We are famous for our faith and encouragement. We have changed the world. Keep on going, and we will change it more.
Do not let the opposition copy everything we do and then we just give up.We are in the right.

I just saw the first interview with Sarah Palin.
Here are some major unbelievable points from her!
1. The Russian invasion of Georgia was (completely unprovoked) And that South Ossetia and Abkhazia must be returned to Georgia without question. She was clueless to the history of the area. She had no idea and frankly did not care about the culture or history of the area. As most arrogant neocons are.. (Simply they don't care about the history or culture of any area of the world) She did not know that population of these areas are Russian and that S. Ossetia was given to Georgia by Stalin and was part of Russian not so long ago.. And is she is clueless about North Ossetia!
2. She said the war in Iraq is a calling from God!
3. She said the service of her son in Iraq is a mission from God! (Apparently Exon is the Vicar of Christ)
4. She said the USA has the right to invade any country if we have intelligence that they plan to hurt us. (Nobody would ever make up such intelligence, would they?)
5. She said The Ukraine and Georgia will be part of NATO.
6. When ask if she knew that Georgia in NATO could mean war with Russia.. She said yes! Like it's a video game to be played?? Another mission from God I'm sure! I suspect she thinks Russia is a Muslim country! Not joking!
* We claim to fight unworldly, uniformed, insane religious radicals yet we keep sending them to represent us in Washington!

...I hope all of the McCain fans that I met today at the hair salon watched Sarah Palin on TV being interviewed by "Charlie" Gibson. She did not know what the crucial "Bush Initiative" was, she said earmarks were okay as long as they are done "in public" ?!?,and at a staged event on 9/11/08 she said that her son would be deployed to Iraq to kill those who were responsible for 9/11/01.
McCain is hiding behind the skirts of a non-professional, uninformed, barely literate ( she pronounced nuclear NOO-CUE-LAR...she needs to go to the lie-berry and stop lying about the plane that was not sold on ebay, the bridge that she supported until later and then kept the money for ) MENTAL MIDGET who could be PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.
Speaking of lying, Obama DID NOT call Palin a pig but McCain did by wrongly interpreting remarks he himself used many times. HE must think we are morons. He is sexist, not Obama. He is the one who told the rape joke.
John McCain said he was prepared to be president because "I wasn't a mayor for a short period of time and I wasn't a governor for a short period of time so I am prepared and do not need on the job training." And then he picks Sarah Palin who is completely ignorant of who is responsible for 9/11 - she thinks it is Iraq NOW at this juncture of time when any TRUE AMERICAN knows it was bin Laden. And the worst lie was stated today by a rep of the Republicans who said, no it wasn't bin Laden it is a man who is already captured.
THEY ARE TRYING TO FOOL US AND LIE TO US AND ABUSE US SO THEY CAN CONTINUE THEIR GRAB AT POWER AND MONEY. THE REPUBLICANS THOUGHT THEY WOULD GET OIL FROM IRAQ AND POURED OUR MONEY THERE AND WASTED TRILLIONS OF OUR TAXPAYER DOLLARS. NOW THE IRAQUIS HAVE A 79 BILLION DOLLAR SURPLUS, WE ARE BROKE, AND TODAY THE IRAQUIS DECIDED THAT ALL OF THE OIL CONTRACTS ARE TO BE AWARDED TO THE CHINESE!!! STUPID REPULBICANS HAVE BEEN DUPED AND NOW WE ARE SUFFERING FOR THEIR MISTAKES. EVEN PETRAEUS SAID TODAY THAT THERE WILL BE NO DECLARATION OF VICTORY IN IRAQ. 4100 AMERICAN LIVES LOST IS NO DECLARATION OF VICTORY.

Our campaign needs to do 3 things.
(1) We need to get the press to be more co-operative. They need to make a big brouhaha about McCain/Palin and their lies. Expose them! Call them on it!!!
(2) I also think Obama needs to have one of those huge rallies once in a while. Show the cameras that we have a lot of energy. Energize the base.
(3) Get the Clintons out there sooner!!!

A poem I hope will help this campaign; it looks better at:

but the message is the same :-)
Democrats Stand Up And Be Counted.
The news reports more registered democrats.
Unite folks - or the republicans will win like fat cats.
Get registered! Get out and vote! Save our land!
Prices are high, jobs low, vote together - beat the band!
Our Country must be saved like only democrats can do.
Ending war responsibly - the Huge, Huge, deficit too!
Three more generations will have to pay unless you vote!
A Democratic President is the only anti-dote.
Register today, call the local democratic office.
Your one vote is critical - one that must not miss.
Democrats! Now is the time to stand up and unite.
Stand up for your country, it's in a sad plight!
Only your one vote can save the land and countrymen.
From four more years of prices rising again and again.

One of the new TV spots is running here in the Madison (WI) market, and it's good. It opens with a clip of McCain speaking about "the special interests" and contrasts his new found religion with pics of all the corporate lobbyists in key positions of his campaign. We need more of this kind of "fact finding" ad.
There is a danger in going too negative, but it has never seemed to hurt the GOP very much. Let's not forget that we are dealing with a party whose philosophy is win at any cost. The Obama campaign must start setting the agenda and force McCain to react, not the other way around. Like it or not, the perception is that Mc-Cain Pallin is setting the entire agenda in this campaign. The phony "lipstick on a pig" thing is getting Obama off message.
And where the hell is Senator Biden?

Frustrated in Ct, et. al,
I agree with most of you. I know it's frustrating when you see you're so close to victory and there's the possiblity it's slipping away. I wish the Obama campaign would hit harder. I have two commercials that I think would be fabulous and get to the point of just what we're talking about. I don't know where in the Obama campaign to send them to but they are the type of commercials that could change the dynamics of the race and guess what it would use McCain-Palin's own sayings against them. Anyway, I've just decided that maybe it's beter to create the commercials myself and put them on youtube. Remember OBama's campaign has gotten this far and they have their own style of doing things. We can't criticize them for that. But we can do our own things to get him elected. This is what grass roots activism is all about. So I would say to all of us who are frustrated let's just get together and start doing our own hard hitting ads, let's do what we have to do to get him elected. I simply can't have the next 4 years be just like the last 8 and I have to do my part to make it work. If you want me to post my commercial ideas let me know. I think you will love them.
Great ad! The real reason McCain wants to be president. Click here |
