Update, We arrived at the Denver airport and greeted by friendly volunteers. Checked into the Sheraton -- hosting both California and New York Delegations. Although the airport and city seem crowded, most people will be arriving on Sunday. On arrival I was happy to see an old friend of my family, Willis Edwards, former LA head of the NAACP. Told to pre-register downstairs I received two goody bags of swag. One tote bag of stuff from the DNC for every delegate, and one from the California delegation. Here are the contents, spread out across my bed at the Sheraton in downtown Denver. My personal favorite: Kraft Macaroni & Cheese limited edition Convention special! Also a pedometer. Sanitizing gel with clip. Mints. More mints. Lip balm. Lapel pin and free ring tone card. Bunch of pens, one of which is made from recycled materials. A notebook. A lump of coal -- which is actually a stress ball thing that promotes "clean coal." Endless papers and brochures and other documents too serious for this entry. One was an interestingly designed audio pamphlet which came with earbuds. Here's what's in the California bag o' swag: Wine glass embossed with John Garamendi's name. A very heavy Diane Feinstein coffee mug. A Magic-8 ball. Binoculars. A slinky style coil thing. A full-size Antonio Villarigosa bobble-head. Deck of playing cards. And yet more paperwork. Off to explore Denver. -- kc
