Day 5: Pottstown and Coatesville

This post is the latest in a series chronicling Governor Rendell's Road to Change Bus Tour.

Pottstown
Governor Rendell arrived in Pottstown to a packed house. It was a tremendous crowd, greeting us with excitement from the moment we got off the bus. It was quite a sight to see. Kudos to State Treasurer candidate Rob McCord and Representative Joe Hoeffel for getting the crowd ginned-up before we came in.

The enthusiasm was so infectious, and the crowd spilled out into the street. The Governor's central message was pointing out how this race is for our children. It was great seeing young people nod their heads in acknowledgment during the Governor's message. Keep going, keep going, keep going.

Coatesville
We had a great stop in Coatesville. Being from Pittsburgh, I understand a lot of the issues that Coatesville is dealing with in terms of transferring from a steel-based industry to a more diverse economy. Coatesville is on the road to recovery.

The stop took place in a great USWA hall, with a really smart crowd. Every question the Governor asked, on the background of progressive taxation and the earned income tax credit, the crowd answered correctly--great job!

We got to meet Mary Kyle, a small business owner (M.I.R.A.G.E Planning Inc.), a great worker and volunteer. She has never been politically involved before this race, and really got involved in this one because she believes a good federal government can do well for towns throughout America like Coatesville. "We are all struggling and I see this campaign as an opportunity to bring a sense of unity back to our country.”

Come Back to PA | Report to Admin

McCain has been closing fast in PA. Even if Obama wins the election, loosing PA would be a huge hit to the Democratic party. Eitherway, loosing PA will greatly reduce Obama's chances of winning the election.

McCain has been focusing on PA much more than Obama in the last two weeks. Recently the Obama campaign has announced that they will be spending time and money in several new states that have always gone Republican, including Arizona. I think this is a mistake. It spreads the campaign too thin, takes the focus from the important states like PA, and we have zero chance of winning these states.

We can not loose PA just because we want to show off by campaigning in Arizona.

Let's get serious and leave Arizona alone!!!!

I totally agree! Obama needs to go back to Pennsylvania. Nothing is certain, and he is giving an unfortunate message to Pennsylvania. Don't get greedy! Just as businesses make a mistake by expanding beyond what they should, Obama may be expanding into questionable areas and ignoring a large and critical population.
I understand that he wants to be inclusive, but it won't matter if he loses Pennsylvania.

GO BACK TO PENNSYLVANIA! NOTING IS CERTAIN! DON'T GET GREEDY!
