I believe that we are all created equal.
I believe in the right of life, of liberty
and the pursuit of happiness.

I believe in freedom,
freedom to think, to speak,
freedom to love,
freedom to learn,
freedom to worship a God of our own choosing.

I believe in the flag
in the red, white and blue
in the star spangled banner of stripes,
may she forever wave over all of our streets,
our homes, our children,
an ever present reminder
watching over us in living color.

I believe in all the soldiers
who have fought underneath her,
unfurling in the storm of patriotism,
who have bled, who have died
to ensure my freedom,
the freedom of a woman
they have never even met,
to ensure the ideals of a country
much greater than the sum of its parts.

I believe in democracy
in the power of the republic,
I believe in the office of servants
public,
not the brick and the mortar
but that in which it uprightly holds,
souls
dutifully striving to serve us and our best interest.

I believe in the idea called America.
