I've received, multiple times, a list of poorest cities and the fact that they have Mayors who are Democrats, leading us to think that Democrats can't run a city. The causality is hardly proven by it. The minute I saw it I wondered why those cities were so poor and it only took a few seconds to make the 'rust belt' association. All of the cities on the list are 'rust belt' cities that have been hit by huge losses in manufacturing jobs over the last decade, except for two. Those two are Miami and El Paso, both of which have a population that is over 60% hispanic immigrants (most of whom arrive here in poverty).

That being said....
In additon, I thought I'd point out the poorest states and their tendency to vote Republican, both for governor and in the general election. Does it show direct causation? I don't think we can jump to that conclusion any more than we can conclude Democratic mayors are responsible for the economy of a manufacturing city. There are too many contributing factors at play. I've provided the links below for the states and their voting record....

Now let's look at the national debt under Republican and Democratic presidents....

And finally, information on the national debt, GDP, consumption plus 'entitlement' programs and how much of our debt they represent.

I always recommend people do their own research and avoid the tabloid journalism and blanket acceptance of information that comes in emails. Now, one more thing before I stop innundating you with information....Here's a map of all the areas that are currently available for drilling. I would suggest that the oil and gas industry either drill where they have leases or, if they've found it's too costly to drill there or the production would be low in those areas, cancel these leases before asking for more land and sea bed.

(This one is a picture I saved from a website that shows the same map in the link above plus Alaska and Gulf offshore drilling. I can't remember the website I copied it from or I would have supplied it here.)

So why, since gas prices have started to rise, have we not heard of massive drilling or exploration efforts within the current leases? Why have we only heard a call for more leases? Could it be that it's because the oil and gas companies can show the leases as profit on their balance sheets for investors? Could it be the government subsidies they receive? Could it be that some of the futures specualtors are within the oil and gas industry and driving up their own profits, since there are loopholes in the auditing process for futures trading? Something to think about. But in the meantime, have you bought a hybrid or solar panels recently? If you're thinking about installing solar panels, here are the top loan sites....

Just some thoughts.....
