Up until now, I have been trusting President Obama's judgement, even if I have not agreed with every one of his decisions. However, the most recent loss to the military under the "don't ask, don't tell" policy is stinging- I understand that Obama has the ability to table, override, or change the policy with the stroke of a pen. Choy, the "out" gay soldier who has been kicked out of the military is an Iraq war veteran (who would like to go back for another tour of duty), fluent in arabic, who is a leader of his team, which evidentally has no problem with his continued leadership. Too many broken promises for me in one week. The photos, the military tribunals at Guantanamo and now this with officer Choy. I'm getting a very sickening feeling. No time to write elequently or at length at the moment, but I hope someone in the administration is listening. I worked full time for Obama's election. This thing about Choy is really twisting my knickers. We need this man out there in the field.
We must get rid of "don't ask, don't tell". Barack, you said you would. Now do it.

Make no mistake the Conservatives are listening and will be using what you just wrote against Democrats and the passage of the election promises. By inserting Democrats in the middle of past issues created by the Conservatives even if the Democrat has nothing to do with the creation of the problem. This makes a tornado of bad publicity that the Elepants never forget to use so far down the road against Democrats that when people see the news slips they think it really was the Democrats fault then everyone will turn around (as planned) and blame/attack the former targeted Democrat.

I agree Kathleen. Politics be damned.
President Obama - bring the change we've entrusted you with. Do the right thing.

This policy is a hold-over from the Clinton administration. Right is right no matter what color your political team wears. Obama promised. It's the right thing to do and he should do it now or at the very least declare a moratorium on enforcement. No more kicking out gay soldiers. We need them and their skills and dedication.
