Wow!! We are here. The final round in the debates for the office of President of the United States of America is upon us. For the past two debates, we have seen our candidate Barack Obama grow and shine beyond all expectations. With this debate, it is my hope that he continues to demonstrate growth and shine beyond all expectations. The difference between the last two rounds of debate and this round is the odds stacked against him. He is the real underdog.
Barack Obama cannot just tie in this debate as he has been but he has to win, win hard, and win big. He has to phase McCain, get into his conscience, and get him off of his “express.” The truth is what Barack Obama needs to do is be bolder and more forthright about giving. We know the truth about the smears and everything but the American public at large that do not necessarily have cable television or the Internet needs to be educated. I mean, there are people out there believing all kinds of false information just because John McCain and Sarah Palin said it. They slipped the mickey or placebo to people on things they knew some Americans (mostly those who are uneducated and ignorant) would be suckers to believe.
Barack Obama needs to be a professor, a teacher and educate the masses as if it were the first time. He needs to drive home the differences between John McCain and himself. He needs to micro-observe John McCain’s allegations and respond to them directly and specifically with the truth. He should clear the air and get rid of myths that John McCain wants to use as plagues to the Obama-Biden ticket. I may be redundant on this but it is the truth. Barack Obama does not need to worry about us. He has our support as allies, voters, supporters, and endorsers but he needs to concentrate on those voters who are either still undecided, independent, and/or feeling uncomfortable with him because they simply do not know him regardless of the past 16 months.
Barack Obama needs to defend his record by formally presenting his record. This is the time that he should not just brush it off. Call out John McCain on the lies he spews in misrepresenting Obama’s record. Obama should address all of it directly, truthfully, fully, and specifically. This will help bring points to Obama in the debate and silence McCain for good on those “issues.” In result, Obama will satisfy those who want him to be more transparent. Addressing McCain also on these things by educating the nation will allow Obama to control the debate so that he can get McCain to concentrate on the issues more than attacking Obama every chance he gets. With every “Obama voted for/against this and he does not have the experience of doing that or don’t know this,” Obama should have a direct, specific, full, and truthful answer or response that will allow him to pivot back to the issues.
The more Barack Obama demonstrates transparency, the more John McCain will look like the village hypocrite that he is. John McCain has no real plans and one bag of tricks that includes the arguments of experience, being liberal, relationship characters, the “maverick” thing, taxes, military, spending, reform, ethics, energy, and foreign policy. In fact, Joe Biden is right. John McCain believes that this election was going to be all about foreign policy. To bad, so sad, John McCain…It is not. All that has to be done by Barack Obama is to pay attention and do it closely. If John McCain tries to bash and lie (as he will), he needs to be called out, made famous, and shut up.
One of the things that I loved about the last debate was that Barack Obama did not need notes. His pad and pen remained on the chair while John McCain had to write page after page of notes. This debate needs to be similar to that. It is okay to correct the man. He is not afraid to tell a lie even though he claims that he “does not need lessons on how to tell the truth to the American people especially from a Chicago politician.” He is not afraid to disrespect Barack Obama, his life, and his record. He is not afraid to talk about himself and glorify his record without giving any real guarantees that he will know how to do anything on a national and international level. It is one thing to know how to evoke change on the Senate floor on a state’s behalf but it is another to know how to evoke change on a national and international scale with understanding of communities.
He also claims that he “doesn’t need US history lessons and will know how to not be doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.” However, Obama does not need US history lessons either but he has no problems learning more than he knows about our history because you can never get to know too much or know everything single thing. John McCain has twisted American history facts in previous debates but claims that he does not need history lessons?! Get real. His running mate even failed the Supreme Court case test. All Obama has to do is take John McCain to school. Tell him and all of us that being president is not playing battleship and Russian roulette with our issues and our lives. It’s not playing battleship, Russian roulette, and monopoly. There are real issues that our nation, our states, our counties, our cities and towns are enduring that require real government attention and resolution by holding each level accountable to get the job done.
It is not a matter of big government or too much government intervention but it is a matter of government accountability and responsibility. Letting the world run free and rampant without enough sound regulation does not work. Our nation must be protected. Our economy must be protected. Our rights as people who are taxpayers, consumers, homeowners, and investors must be protected. Our world must be at peace working towards betterment, growth, and real leadership. Our people as a whole in health and wellness must be protected. Business and the corporate culture must be reformed and held accountable to be responsible. The people of our nation must be better educated not only as children but also as adults. There are many adults in this nation who still do not know how to read or have the competence to comprehend what they read. They are willing to believe anything that you throw at them. This must change.
Barack Obama must shut down and shut up John McCain in this debate. We all know that he has this in him. We need Barack to show that he embodies what it means to be our president. He must show that he embodies a true and great president. He must demonstrate transparency in who he is and what he stands for not only to John McCain but the American People. This is not about us who are already educated and aware of Barack Obama because we are going to vote for him. It is not about John McCain’s base of people because we already know that they are not going to vote for Obama. It is about that 10% of undecided voters, other percentage of Independent voters, and those voters who are uncomfortable with the thought of Obama being President of the United States for whatever reason.
This should be a prologue to what the 30-minute television spot is going to be about. I have an idea for that and I will share it in my next blog post. I know that Barack Obama is selfless and altruistic but it is time to balance out the “we” with the “me.” He needs to talk about himself, who he is, and what he is really offering. There are people who are solely depending on this debate to help them make a decision. These are people who do not go on this website or watch television all of the time except for instances as this. It is time to change the world in one moment.
Barack Obama, Fight for the Change That We Need!! School John McCain. Make it known that it has nothing to do with his age or anything but he needs to be educated on what an Obama-Biden administration would really entail. Sell this concept to John McCain as much as you are selling it to us. Let him stumble and react but don’t let him get away with murder in bashing your record, who you are, where you have been, and where you are going. Call him out on his negativity and make it plain that even though John McCain “rather lose an election than to lose a war,” you would rather lose an election than to see our nation fade into a non-existence at the hands of John McCain and Sarah Palin wanting us to go backwards into a 20th century ideology and policy than to be a force in the 21st century.
With all of this advice, it is my hope that you win the debate hands down, Barack Obama. This is not about satisfying your campaign staff, us as your secured base, or John McCain and his base. No. This is about strongly asserting the fact that you are going to embody and be proactive about giving all of us the change that we need as our president from November 5, 2008 to the last day of office in October in 2012. We, the middle and lower classes, will be on your mind day in and day out as you bring this change that we need in our culture, government, work ethic, and our nation as a whole. You will meet the call, take on the challenge, and work each day for us to bring about legislation and policy that will bring real resolve and leadership to our many issues.
Everybody may not like everything that you are proposing. You cannot please 100% of the nation 100% of the time. However, it will be guaranteed through action that this nation will be a better place by October of 2012 if you, Barack Hussein Obama, are the President of the United States of America and Joe Biden, is the Vice-President of the United States of America. Let John McCain know what you say is not rhetoric but is fact and you will hold yourself and the rest of the government accountable to ensure that it is fact.
