Honorable Senator Martinez,
I know you seldom bother to respond to liberal constituents who write your office but I hope you will provide a positive response to this letter regarding Health Care.
Some simple facts you cannot deny:
Health Care is Broken.
Millions of Americans have no health care at all and don't qualify for Medicare.
No private insurance provider will give free insurance to those who cannot afford it.
Absent "free or low cost" insurance, poor Americans cannot get health care except to wait for serious complications then go to a public emergency room...some times it is too late, after which they and their families are saddled with tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt they cannot pay.
"...I was shocked when I read a memo from Republican strategist Dr. Frank Luntz laying out plans to dismantle any effort to give all Americans access to quality health care." said Senator Markey (D-OR)Dr. Luntz's memo said, "You're not going to get what you want, but you can kill what they're trying to do." In his memo, Dr. Luntz lays out multiple ways that opponents of health care reform can trick and manipulate the American public.

Can you be tricked as well? Will the Republicans offer a plan to require private insurance to guarantee coverage to those who cannot pay? Will they guarantee preventative health care to everyone regardless of socio-economic status? Of course not. You and I both know private insurers are not in the business of helping people, they are in the business of earning profits and they want to keep it that way. Never mind if some Americans are denied care, even allowed to die without proper care in defense of shareholder dividends. Everyone knows some of these profits are spent to lobby Congress to preserve the profitable status-quo. More of these profits are spend to elect their favorite politicians who help them maintain that status quo.
Some complain that in other countries such as Canada and the UK, there may be long waiting lists to get care. In America we wait on Congress because there is no list and no care at all !
For most of the past decades, Congress, manipulated by the health care lobby, did nothing. Now they seem to want to assure that "doing nothing" is a standard practice in Congress. We don't need people to do nothing..and empty capitol building accomplishes that quite nicely, thank you.
My very specific question to you is, Will you support meaningful health care reform and dis-avow your party's attempts to block reform, or will you stand with corporate giants and special interest lobbies against all those Americans who are without any health care and who will remain so absent government programs?
I urge everyone to write to there elected officials about this important issue.
