I'm astounded, confounded, and just plain scratching my head over all the talk about race. A few months ago all we heard was the crazy assertion that Barack Obama was 'not black enough', now we hear that he is The Black Candidate.
As I gear up to do phone banking, does anyone have any ideas of how to talk to voters about this issue?
I do wish the media would move beyond this. I wish they would recognize that Barack Obama himself has not based his campaign on his race, unlike Hillary "I'm Your Girl" Clinton who has gotten a pass at injecting gender into the race.
What gives? What can Barack Obama say or do to change the narrative? What can I do or say? While it is tempting to blame the Clintons for lowering the level of dialog, their tactics only work because the media and some of us Democrats fall for it.
Any ideas? I'm gearing up to do phone banking.
BTW, I'm a 42 year old white woman from Connecticut. By all reductive characteristics of gender, race, and geography, I'm "supposed" to be supporting Hillary Clinton, but I didn't even for a second consider supporting her.
