The second day of get out the vote is nearing its end, but volunteers across Colorado are still working hard. Thousands of Coloradans spent their Sunday evening calling folks and reminding them to vote, whether by returning their mail-in ballots to a
drop off location
or going to the
polls on Tuesday
.
When call time ended, supporters helped with data entry and preparing for the next day.
Here are some photos from today:
You can still help out in the last crucial days. Sign up to volunteer at a
location near you
or
make calls to battleground states
. Tomorrow will be another big day for GOTV.

Congradulations!
Anyway,
ound this on the Obama Facebook group.
There's an urgent need for volunteers right now at our Last Call for Change phonebanks.
We aren't reaching our targets, and we're facing a last-minute challenge from the McCain campaign in the key battleground state of Pennsylvania.
You can make a big difference by calling Pennsylvania voters and telling them their polling location.
Find the Last Call for Change phonebank near you and sign up for a time that works for you.
Pennsylvania is McCain's last stand. His campaign is fighting hard in the Keystone state because it's their best path to victory.
They're spending a fortune, and McCain himself is spending a lot of time there.
We need you to fight back right now.
You'll be calling Obama supporters, telling them their polling location, and making sure they cast their vote for change in a crucial battleground state.
Find your nearest Last Call for Change phonebank and bring a couple of friends with you.
There are just two days left now. We're seeing a race that's getting tighter and tighter. We need you now more than ever.
Thanks,
Nicole

National Phonebank Coordinator
Obama for America
P.S. -- If you can't make it to a phonebank, you can still make a difference by making calls from home. Get started reaching out to voters in Pennsylvania:

I was happy to see McCain in good form on SNL. He is a better man than this campaign suggests, sad to see how he has let himself be highjacked by the worst of the Repubs.
I'm hoping he proves a gracious loser and gets back to the Senate ready to help out on the areas where he has some common ground with Barack -- tackling global warming, for example. My husband (a Republican) and I both admired him in 2000 and have found it a painful spectacle watching him descent into mud-slinging and confusion.

Chicago Sun-Times staff reporters
Barack Obama¹s camp says the election night celebration in Grant Park is for 65,000 spectators, plus 7,500 media members and campaign workers, according to the application filed with the Chicago Park District.
The official Nov. 4 event, in south Grant Park¹s Hutchison Field, will begin at 9 p.m. and end at 1 a.m., according to the application.
If people want to dance in joy, they may have to hum to themselves: The application says there will be no live or amplified music -- "spoken word only.''
Hot dogs, pizza and hot chocolate will be sold; alcohol will not, according to the campaign.
Meanwhile, Mayor Daley said the Obama campaign's decision to require tickets at the Grant Park rally -- and to stop issuing tickets on Wednesday -- would not alter the city's meticulous preparation for a rally that could draw more than a million people. "There's only one section that will have tickets,'' he said.
For those not ticketed, Daley cited the area around Columbus and Balbo for "the general public."
Chicago Parks Supt. Tim Mitchell said he looked forward to the attention that Obama's celebration would bring Chicago.
CNN, the BBC, Al-Jazeera -- they'll all be broadcasting live from 'Grant Park
The city's Office of Emergency Management and Communications is planning to hold a news conference Friday to outline street closures and what one source called a Òlarge parking-restricted areaÓ that will be in effect downtown on Election Night.
Daley said the event could include giant video screens for people without tickets to see Obama's speech.
The Chicago Police Department is canceling days off for most officers from 8 a.m. on Nov. 4 to 8 a.m. on Nov. 5. Uniformed cops will be on L platforms across Chicago because the city is expecting an unusual number of people coming downtown on trains, police said.
Firefighters have been asked to take their gear home in case they have to be called up to handle emergencies. The city will monitor the event and other parts of Chicago through its massive network of closed-circuit security cameras.

I am a 40+ white mother of three from Vermont. I work 12 hours a week in a hospital and a few hours a week for myself. I believe in Barack Obama. This is the first campaign I have ever volunteered for. In the last year this campaign has been such an important part of my life. But more importantly, it has shaped my three children's lives. They have learned the importance of acting on your beliefs and standing up for what you think is right. They have watched me call all over the country and travel to Rhode Island in the primaries and weekends in New Hampshire now. I'm proud of this campaign and proud of my local actions and their impacts on my children!
Let's All Give!!!!
It can be:
our time
our $
our hearts
our prayers
our phonecalls
our faith
our visits to states
our passion
our editorials
We all have something to give!!!

IA,NM and NH were the only "swing states" that swung in '04. All 3 have always been must-wins for Sen. Obama. He visited all 3 of them in the last 2 weeks. His own internal polling in PAmust say something that wedon't know about. Joe,Gov. Rendell and Sen. Casey have been campaigning there for him. Gues we just have to trust Sen. Obama on this one.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrat Barack Obama heads to the finish line in the 2008 campaign with an 8-point advantage over Republican John McCain, according to a Wall Street Journal/NBC News public opinion poll released on Sunday.
The poll, found 51 percent of likely voters favored Obama, versus 43 who favored McCain. Obama's lead slipped 2 points from a Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released last week.
The new poll, conducted Saturday and Sunday, has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby Poll: Obama is Where He Needs To Be, McCain is Not
Obama 50.9%, McCain 43.8%
Released: 11-03-2008
Next Release: 11-04-08, 1:00AM
UTICA, New York - As Election Day nears in the U.S. Presidential race, Democrat Barack Obama has increased his lead to 7.1 points over Republican John McCain, up from a 5.7 point advantage in yesterday's report, the latest Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby daily tracking poll shows.
Pollster John Zogby: "Barack Obama is where he needs to be and John McCain is not. In a multi-candidate race, assuming the minor candidates can win around 2%, 51% can win. Obama holds the groups that he needs and continues to hold a big lead among independents and his base. McCain seems to be holding his base without expanding it or moving into Obama's territory. A reminder: we will have another release based on polling through midnight Monday out early Tuesday."
Obama leads by 15 points among independents and wins 89% support among Democrats. He also leads by 16 points among those who have already voted and 27 points among those who have registered to vote in the last six months. Obama leads by 13 points among women and by just a point among men, as well as leading among all age groups with the exception of those age 55-69, who favor McCain by one point. He also strong leads among Hispanics and moderates.
McCain leads among whites by 13 points and wins 87% support from Republicans. He also leads among conservatives by 53 points, NASCAR fans by 12 points, and investors by seven points.

OK, so I read an interesting article on the Huff that says if you really want to know who's going to win, check with the betting places. They have been correct almost 100% of the time because they've got money on the line and they take into consideration other variables that pollsters don't usually consider.
I just spent 2 hrs checking with Betfare (they called every state correctly in the 2004 election and Intrade who also was 100% correct in the last election. Betfare says we'll win Colorado, New Mexico, and Pennsylvania with Nev., N.Hampshire,Ohio, and Va. toss ups. Obama's odds of winning are 1/10 and McCain's are 9/1. Intrade has Obama's chances of winning @ 89.5 and McCain's 10.5. I'm not a betting woman so I couldn't understand a lot of the jargon but you can go to their web site and check it out for yourselves. I found this very encouraging (every little bit helps with all the negative I'm reading on the blog tonight.

I just saw the new advertising campaign against Prop 8. Prop 8 is about gay marriage. I believed both presidential candidates were for leaving this issue to the states. I sadly must end my support and my vote for Barrack Obama. I will not vote in this election. I will not vote for McCain , but Barrack Obama has lost my vote.

I can't understand how you could cease supporting Barack Obama based on a proposition (which I would vote No on as I believe gays should have the right to marry); however, it seems to me that perhaps you didn't support Barack at all.
I don't mean to question you; however, you spelled his name wrong, also. Neither McC nor Obama are from California and Obama, and I don't support him on this, is AGAINST gay marriage. So, that's another reason I question your past support of Obama. Anyone who watched the some 20-plus debates and has followed this campaign to include phone banking as you stated, would know that!

Obama has always stated he is not for gay "marriage" as he is for legal civil unions. Nonetheless the ad you have seen must be false if it implies he wants to overturn their right in CA. He states today that while he does not support gay marrige he is for the states deciding and would leave it alone in CA.
Go to huffingtonpost.com and you will see a story to that effect.
I also disagree with Obama on this position. But really - you cannot support him any longer over one position in which he will not change the CA law in place? Trust me Palin is for a constitutional amendment to BAN gay marriage. So now which pair would you rather have in the WH?

Greetings all,

Her business took exceptional care of my rehabilitation after both of my foot surgeries -- one two years ago and the other just recently. Her perspective is worth sharing with those of you who may face similar decisions (although I believe Barack Hussein Obama can still be defeated by the rational voters in this country). Her open letter to business owners is below. Take a minute to read it.

Dear Fellow Business Owners
As a Business owner who employs 30 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama will be our next President and that my Taxes and Fees will go up in a BIG way.
To compensate for these increases, I figure that the patients will have to
see an increase in my fees to them of about, 8%. I will also have to lay off 6 of my employees. This really bothered me as I believe we are family here and didn't know how to choose who will have to go. So, this is what I did.
I strolled thru the parking lot and found, 8 Obama bumper stickers on my employee's cars. I have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off.
I can't think of another fair way to approach this problem. If you have a
better idea, let me know.
I am sending this letter to all Business owners that I know.
Sincerely,
Dr.Grace Walker Gray

McC's defending the bright red states; in the past, republicans never even campaigned in many of these states. Obama's campaigning in red states; he's too far ahead for any of this crapola to work.
I was on pins and needles earlier today, thinking of 2000 and 2004; however, a good friend of mine posted this on another blog; it helped me.
"I can understand people's nervousness, but for some reason I am oddly calm right now. It's almost like a quiet revolution with all of these people voting early (including me). I feel at peace ... and hopeful. Sublimely hopeful. Maybe it's because I've already voted, so the anticipation of that is gone. There certainly is always the possibility of a surprise, but with so many votes already cast, it's not really clear how much effect such a thing might have.
I'm not superstitious, and the signs are mostly positive, but I've crossed my fingers and toes, just in case."
Relax and find some of that peace!

If your Dr. Walker is taking home over $250,000 after all her expenses (which includes her staff's wages) are deducted, and yet feels she must let some of her staff go and raise her prices to her patients rather than pay a very small tax increase out of that $250,000+ profit, then I think she is a very GREEDY doctor who cares more about her own personal income than she does about her patients.

I did a canvassing shift on Saturday afternoon. We hit about 60 houses. Most were not home, but a few were. Sadly, our very first house was a "door slammer" - but that was the only one.
Today, I must have made at least 100 calls to PA voters. I forget the numbers, but we made it through our entire list at around 3pm, and we were getting ready to hit a second round of calls.
For anybody shy about calling, please note that we are no longer trying to convince or persuade voters. All we are doing is giving them info on their polling place, ID requirements, etc. Eighty percent of the time, you get voicemail/answering machine, or a disconnected/not-in-service number. Ten percent of the time, you'll get an enthusiastic voter who'll ask you how the volunteering is going. It's a very small percent of "not interested" or hang-ups at this point.
So, don't be afraid. Take the plunge!
If you do call PA voters, you may want to close your call with something like this:
"You can probably anticipate another call from the campaign. This is a massive effort in this historic election, and for the most part, we're using real people (not robo-calls). We know you're probably sick of the calls and commercials, but this is our last full day, and we're making a huge push, and your support is critical to our success!"
Just my humble suggestion - lots of folks here in PA are getting numerous robocalls each day (I've had at least 15 from the RNC during the past three weeks, and I've been a registered DEM my whole life!), plus nasty direct mail pieces every day, also.
I even got a couple calls who said, "We're all voting for Obama, we've told you three times now...will you please stop calling?" LOL (Barack would be proud, I think!)
Tomorrow, it's back to canvassing, and on election day, I'm taking a "whatever you need me for" role. Cannot wait!

I was so proud of folks here in pinellas county, Florida! Residents have been barackin the vote! The earling voting lines were 5 hours long. Voters remained in line when it rained. Voters remained in line when the winds blew hard. Voters remained in line when there was a chill in the air. They did not move! 90% of that line of voters were sporting Obama stickers and pins. We had an opportunity to be up close with those in line as we gave out free pizza, doughnuts, and water over the course of the last couple of days to those waiting in line.
One more day, folks...One more day...run through the tape!

THIS IS SOME OF WHAT BARACK OBAMA SAID DURING HIS VICTORY SPEECH IN THE SOUTH CAROLINA PRIMARY:
Because in the end, we are not just up against the ingrained and destructive habits of Washington, we are also struggling against our own doubts, our own fears, and our own cynicism. The change we seek has always required great struggle and sacrifice. And so this is a battle in our own hearts and minds about what kind of country we want and how hard we're willing to work for it.
DO NOT GET COMPLACENT!
LET'S GET TO WORK!
YES WE CAN!
