If you don't already know, i'm 19 and very new to campaigning! But i've done TONS of research and i'm very sure that i want Barack Obama as our next President. Anyway, being new to campaigning, I don't really know what to do! I know MY personal goal is to motivate the young adults I know to first get REGISTERED, then vote for Barack Obama. Politics is VERY shoved aside by "kids" around here. I also know that Barack needs Money. $$ So, What is something small and "hands-on" I can do around here? Any advice is helpful, AND appreciated. I'd like something personal, where I can actually interact with people, as I've said, because I don't only want to gain money for the campaign, I want people to learn! And ultimately Vote for Obama. So, I'm brainstorming: Something basic like handout brochures and sell Obama bracelets and pins. ... And that's about as far as my thougts go! So if anyone can help me, it'd be GREATLY appreciated. Any ideas for fund-raising for Obama in my little town. Thank you!

Hi Big Dreams...
I've been campaigning for a number of years now, but Barack is by far my favorite candidate ever.
There may be local meetings already taking place in your town, but if not, you can set up a monthly meeting yourself at the local bar or coffee shop or bookstore or theater. Just invite some relatives, friends and business owners, and maybe even a local politician...like the mayor! Hey, you never know! Just keep it fun and inviting. Call it "Small town people for Obama." STPO...or some fun name that includes your actual town name.
Also, contact Obama headquarters in Chicago and let them know what you are doing, and they'll send you some posters and brochures free to pass out!!
Very important: walk around to the business and see if you can get them to put up the free posters that you'll get, or see if your neighbors will. (I had my "Obama for U.S. Senate" sign up in my apartment window for over a year! Who knows how many people saw it, right?)
Just be informal and freindly about the get-together. It's for people who want to talk politics, and discuss what Obama can do as President.
Then, keep in touch with the Chicago headquarters. They'll have tips and ideas too.
As far as fundrasing goes, every single little bit helps. Ask people to give five, ten, fifty bucks. And keep a tally on display at the meetings of how much your town is contributing. Have fun with it!
Best of luck. I don't make it to the site reguarly, but I'll check back at some point! We can do this!!!

Hello all,
My name is Matt Scheuer. I am a life long resisdent of NWI and love to see the political buzz that has been created amongst my fellow young people due to the Presidental Election. Though I am very keen on what is going on in the national elections, some of the best ways to get involved is to contact your local Democratic Groups.
One might ask who are the local groups and how do I contact them? Luckily for you I am the head of the Porter County Young Democrats. If you woudl like to get involved PLEASE contact me at 219.742.3289 or by email at stdlyshire@yahoo.com. I want to see this enthusiasm put to good use for not just this election but for elections to come.

Hi everyone. Just joined about 30 seconds ago!
I'm 'newish' to politics, never campaigned, but after 7 years of this abominable Administration, I want to do what I can to make sure the next term is vastly different.
I do know there is a small-donor fundraiser going on right now. You can even have your donation matched by going to
Link
.
You'll also find a vast amount of information in the diaries on Daily Kos at
Link
. [Word of caution - bring a thick hide with you. Primary season can get pretty rough...]
I've been focusing most of my time on getting impeachment hearings scheduled ASAP for Cheney and also doing what I can to stop any retro-amnesty for the Telecoms. I now need to add something constructive to the balance. That will be whatever participation I can muster (with a full time job) to support Obama.
There is a clear picture unfolding in which every single primary/caucus will be vital to winning the Democratic nomination and subsequently the Presidential race. Indiana must do it's part in making sure Barack is the person who gains the Office in '08.
For anyone who's interested, I'm a married, soon-to-be 50 year old woman and native born Hoosier. I've just escaped twenty five years in the mortgage industry (don't get me started....) and started a 'new' career in a different financial field. I'm good with numbers, organization, am a passable writer, and know way too much trivia for my own good.
For what it's worth... I'm in!
