Words are Cheap?
Feb 17, 2008
Hillary, "words are cheap"?As someone who values the importance of the written language, the importance to speak well, and the ability to communicate effectively, I find that statement offensive. As a Democrat, I once held the belief that I had an obligation to support the candidate chosen by the people in my same party in the upcoming election. Even as a Barack Obama supporter, I originally thought that there were two excellent choices in our party. Not anymore. If my words are cheap, then watch my actions.YOU NO LONGER HAVE MY SUPPORT.I will not vote for you in the election. You have made it very clear that my voice doesn't matter. Well, that street goes two ways Mrs. Clinton, neither does yours.I encourage any supporters of Hillary Clinton to demand that phrases like that no longer are a part of her campaign. You might want to attack me, or attack Barack Obama. That's your choice. Those are your words, and your words do matter. They aren't cheap. They express your feelings and your opinions. They call to movement your actions. They call to the American public that you, as well, want your candidate to be supported. Are your words cheap? As a citizen in this country, where the First Amendment Right was Free Speech, don't tell me that words are cheap. Our families long ago fought and died for that right of free speech. And you say words are cheap?Words should be cherished. Words unite our thoughts and our actions. Words are so important that they weren't listed last in the Bill of Rights. They were listed first.Words are the most expensive of all commodities, for without them, we cannot share our thoughts in an environment free of oppression.Statements like the one she made should drive you crazy and make you furious. If you believe that actions speak louder than words, then just take a look at what's happening around the country. People are active, they are taking action. There is no empty rhetoric when the people who follow Barack Obama are in fact participating. There are millions of us. We are donating, calling, cheering, and working just as hard as any Hillary Clinton supporter. We are working not only to change the policies of today, we are changing the politics of tomorrow. And with my words, and with Barack Obama's words, we strive to achieve those goals that we set forth. As a Hillary Clinton supporter, you too should take heart in Barack Obama's words. For they are not cheap. They are inspiring, and all great things occur when the people of this country are inspired.

speaking of blowing--how's Larry Sinclair Obamabots? by Bernie Gagliano Feb 17, 2008 9:50 PM
Obama's words are CHEAP, they are WORTH NOTHING, because he says nothing about the issues! Stop bringing in the people who died for our nation and other GOP nonsense, the people who died for our nation would be ashamed we are electing a man on how much we like him and he inspires us, not on how he can improve the nation. by Jake501 Feb 17, 2008 9:54 PM
Bernie - If you are the role model of Hillary Clinton's support group, then I gladly can say that I want no part of you, or your choice of President. You exhibit the same weak character that people like me are fighting against.Jake - Maybe you define what you think he's not saying by how you're not listening. Maybe you're deaf? In every speech he's given he's talked about policy issues. I even bet that you have them memorized. What does he say about Health Care? What does he say about Education? What does he say about the War in Iraq? What does he say about Foreign Relations? What does he say about the Economy? If not, if you've been living under a rock, then go to www.barackobama.com and read his policy issues. They are there WRITTEN in black and white, with WORDS.If you want to discuss differences in policy, that's fine. I'll defend those as well. But you know that most of the policies are identical to Hillary's. So, again, you've failed your cause. The people who have died for this nation are exactly the reason why you're even here. They are your life Jake. The GOP didn't make that up. It's not some fantasy that we all pretend is real. It is a fact. People died so you could write and say whatever you want. It is precisely why they wrote the Bill of Rights in the first place. They knew that words were the most important, so why don't you? Maybe you're too accustomed to your freedom Jake. Maybe you need to experience oppression to realize the fallacy you are trying to argue. If inspiration does not motivate you to action, then what does? Inspiration is exactly what this country needs, especially right now.Jake, you know the speeches of American history, I know you do. Ask your parents, or your children, your history teachers, and your neighbors. Why do they all know those WORDS Jake? Why do they feel a connection to them?Words do matter. They matter most. And words do improve the nation.Do you believe that this election process right now is making our lives better?Do you believe that people around the globe are looking at us with great hope? That's inspiration Jake. It's from the words our candidates say that get broadcast into our homes.Words Jake, they are worth everything.

You need inspiration maybe. Not most of the nation. We are looking for competence. We don't need something beyond a proven track record, what both McCain and Hillary have.Sorry, devil. Weak minds, incapable of critical analysis need a messiah to lead them somewhere. When the general campaign decides the President, the American people will not choose your Purple Rainmanker. The rest of us saw this act in JFK and Carter. We know what a mess a weak, unprepared Inspiration can do to the nation and in the world.

Yes, I do need inspiration, because I am the disaffected. I need hope because I have dark days of my own. I respect great speakers because it shows an intelligence and ability everyone should strive for.I consider empathy a core of my own belief structure. I consider someones good judgment when a problem is presented or an issue discussed. If most of the nation doesn't need inspiration, then why are millions excited by it? Why is it something that every public figure in the history of the world striving to convey? If inspiration is not required, then why does Hillary raise her voice during a stump speech? She knows the value of it, and tries as hard as she can to inspire you.You write about competence, a proven track record, and experience. I can dissect these just like you try to dissect my argument that WORDS matter. What if they all matter? Would you agree to that? Could action, experience, and WORDS all be important?I believe so. I don't falsely assume that experience is not important, like your candidate so clearly expresses her viewpoint that words are meaningless. But, eight years as a First Lady is not a proven track record. It does not mean that because you lived in the house, that you ran the house.A failed health care plan with eight years to achieve it, is not something that goes on your proven track record list. It is no achievement. Where's your critical analysis now? Length in Washington does not make experience, and it is no substitute for good judgment. Compare the two candidates in years represented in public service as representatives of a state. Barack Obama clearly holds an advantage in years. He also hold an advantage in using good judgment. You might think that I'll use her vote for the Iraq war, or the fact that she held closed meetings with the health care lobbyists as my main arguments, but I won't, I'll even give you a better one to ponder over.Hillary, while working at Walmart fought to break up labor unions. I find it quite amusing that her main supporters, (the low income, blue collar workers), don't take this into consideration. That they are in fact voting for the one person who tried to destroy them. It amazes me that blind eyes are taken to this fact. You want to have an argument about resumes? Well, let's combine hers. Fair and honest. Out in the open for all the world to see. Who's really your unprepared leader now? While my candidate was the first African American President of the Harvard Law Review, yours was neck deep into WhiteWater. Now, that alone is impressive, wouldn't you say? Do you think Jimmy Carter, or JFK would be impressed as well? Do you think Jimmy Carter would states that Barack is incapable of leading because he has any lack in experience? Can you truly believe your own misplaced and misjudged statements now?Community ActivistIllinois State SenatorUS Senatorvs.Walmart Corporate LawyerFirst LadyUS SenatorWhere's your unexperienced and unprepared candidate now? I think it's your candidate, not mine.
