There is a bigger point here. If anyone is attacking her children, that is wrong and it shouldn't happen.
If she lied to spare her daughter her reputation, many may understand to a degree - if she did it for her daughter.
The prospect that Palin may be concealing her daughter's birth has several political implications:
1. She is a strong proponent of Abstinence in schools - she may not like the example that her daughter Bristol set.
2. She is a strong advocate against abortion - in all circumstances.
3. If it is Bristol's baby, she lied methodically and across the board to everyone about it. If she did not, she put her baby with Down Syndrome at risk of death by flying 8 hours back to Alaska instead of going to the hospital - neither scenario represents good judgment on her part.
4. If she has made her daughter ashamed of having a baby at 17yo, it is understandable to a point. But to conceal it - imagine what that must be doing to her daughter - the degree of shame she must unnecessarily feel.
This is the kicker...
5. She has incorporated the birth of her Down Syndrome into her political platform as a demonstration of her personal conviction and as part of forming a compelling story about who she is.
Exposing this as false would make her into a liar and hypocrite on so many levels. Whereas I could forgiver her for trying to spare her daughter any unwarranted social judgment, her embracing of the circumstances (at her daughter's expense) to advance herself would be unforgivable - especially by the conservative base.
This should be looked into - if true, it demonstrates the epitome of the level of hypocrisy within the republican party.

Down's Syndrome babies & Palin's lies: |

For years I worked doing direct-care of special-needs people, kids & adults, with mental challenges. From experience I can say that Palin's little ego-stunt of delaying proper medical attention to the birth of [supposedly] her Down's Syndrome baby could have cost the little child its life. Down's Syndrome children may have better prognoses now, but ONLY if they are given access to prompt medical oversight, treatment and ongoing healthcare measure. Special diets, special exercise and special accommodations are a part of daily life for Down's Syndrome kids. But the birth process itself for a child with this health challenge is crucial. The vicious anti-choice agenda of Palin put her own [grand?]child at EXTREME RISK. So much for being "pro-life." I agree - we need a bunch of conscientious pro-Obama doctors to speak up on YouTube vids, to tell the public what an insane 'stunt' Palin pulled when/if she delayed and basically prevented proper prompt and responsible medical attention to her[daughter's?] Down's Syndrome baby's birth.
