This is my suggestion for a commercial - it is bad, but should really drive the point home...
A young girl (12-13yo) is in the sitting room of the Doctor's office alone and afraid. The doctor is talking to the mother:
Mother: "Is she Pregnant"
Doctor: "I am afraid she is"
Mother: "When can we schedule and abortion"
Doctor: "I can't - it's illegal and considered murder"
Mother: "What - but she was raped"
Doctor: "It's still illegal"
Mother: "... by her father!"
Doctor: " doesn't matter.
Mother: " but she's 12!"
Doctor: Blank Stare
I know this sounds really extreme, but this is a very likely reality under McCain/Palin.

As an independent and former Hillary supporter, a commerical like that seems just like the thing that hard liners would support, no matter who it offends(and it would be offensive to me--and yes, I am pro choice). Neither candidate is really trying to bring the country together. When you filter out hard liners on either side, the independents are left trying to sort it out.
I own a small business--Obama is definitely going to penalize me. Once he does this, I will have to try to absorb the increased cost and not penalize the 25 people who work for me. I currently provide health insurance for our employees at no cost to them. In a country where over 48 million people are uninsured, this is a huge benefit. Under Obama's plan, I would not be able to provide this benefit at 100%. This is going to increase the cost of health care for the employee. How does this help struggling Americans? and where are the corporate tax loopholes? I haven't found them.
Our combined household income is close to $250K a year...and we are not rich. We are very middle class. I have 4 children and live in a house built in 1949---and updated last in 1970 something. We have no consumer debt, because our parents taught us to pay for things as we go and not live a "borrowed" lifestyle (unlike our government). We have managed to put away for our kids education and retirement, living modestly.
We are educated enough to realize that this economic crisis we are in cannot be laid solely at the Rebublicans or Democrats doorstep...Clinton passed NAFTA and Bush passed CAFTA--both of which has caused jobs to go overseas. Every politician in Washington, including Barack Obama and John McCain, have benefited from special interests and pork barrel spending--earmarks. Who are they kidding?
McCain is not Bush and Obama's experience is really irrelavant since the last two presdents had been governors prior to taking the Oval Office---how much foreign policy experience do you think they had? I just wish either one would come up with some real solutions that are fair and equitable for everyone, instead of focusing on making each other look bad. If Obama is such a leader for change, then he should take the high road and show some class. I will be posting the same missive on John McCain's website.

That's a chilling scenario.
There are some who say they want less government interference in their business. The government SHOULD allow people freedom to choose what happens to their own bodies because God gave everyone free will. I'm sure He knew what He was doing.
What if someone wasn't allowed to have plastic surgery just because some people believe it was bad?

Like all too many people I am a survivor of sexual violence - I choose to speak up publicly, because I know from experience just how dangerous and deadly the McCain/Palin anti-choice blitzkrieg/strategy really is. I was a tiny girl when I was molested; years later I was the victim of a violent date-rape; a few years later I had to have corrective surgery for the combined 'damage' [sic] - the same kind of surgery that "third-world" women in war-torn countries e.g. in Africa so desperately need. In spite of a "good surgical result" and past access to decent aftercare help and therapy [!], I have physical, mental, emotional and spiritual scars that will never EVER go away. I am now 61 years old and have dedicated my life to helping other sexual-violence victims - professionally in the criminal justice field; as an expert witness; and as an advocacy volunteer. I am EXRTREMELY PROUD TO SAY that I have worked as an abortion-clinic DEFENDER - in the face of vicious, intimidating 'demonstrations' by "pro-life"/anti-choice mob-mentality thugs who "think" like Sarah Palin does about abortion rights. I agree with your "ad" suggestion and do NOT think it is too over the top. I was 3 and a half when I was molested by my paternal grandfather - who had assaulted others including older MALE relaties of mine, as well, and who never had ANY legal or other consequences due to the then-limits of the laws. My incest abuser 'grandfather' was a RIGHTWING BIBLE-THUMPING MISOGYNISTIC VERBALLY-ABUSIVE RACIST REPUBLICAN JUST LIKE MCCAIN.
Thank you for speaking up and giving a REAL picture of what is at stake - including for children much, much younger than the age of 12, because these days it's becoming the NORM for girls to get their first periods around the age of NINE OR TEN.
SPEAK UP - STAND UP - AND STAY FIRED-UP - FOR JUSTICE AND CHANGE WITH A CONSCIENCE!

So can I, so before we throw that card out there, know that I was raped and subsequently became pregnant. I chose to give the baby up for adoption, even though an abortion was offered to me. Having the baby was my personal choice, but I am glad that I had that choice and I would lay down my own life to protect that right for others. I think that you can still support the right to choose, even though your personal beliefs are different. This doesn't make me or people like me "Bible thumping misogynistic verbally abusive racists". Stereotyping people and attacking them for their faith and beliefs is not a good way to convert people over to Obama's camp.
Please study the constitution, how our government is set up, and who decides what is law in our country. The McCain/Palin ticket can no more turn over Roe v. Wade, then you or I. Only the Supreme Court can do that. Last I checked, there is a majority on the Supreme Court who supports Roe v. Wade. There is no way that the President, whoever that may be, can stack a Supreme Court without the confirmation of the Senate.
I like reading comments from supporters on both side, as I struggle to make my decision by November 4th. Comments like these, however, can turn one's stomach. I understand your need to find some outlet to heal and reach out to others, but name calling, stereotyping and creating hysteria to move an agenda forwad taints the validity of your arguement. Sorry...still haven't convinced me.
