I have always said the domestic spying of the Patriot Act is silly because the real terrorists will use encryption making wiretaps useless. But the innocent average citizen will not have this protection. It's time honest citizens have the same protection as criminals. This protection has been around since 1991.
For email privacy I use Gmail + Thunderbird + Enigmail + GPG to send and receive encrypted emails. The How-to is coming soon.
For privacy while using the internet, I prefer to use Firefox + TORBUTTON + PRIVOXY + TOR ( anonymous network ) how-to coming soon.
For instant messaging privacy I preferr Pidgin + OTR which includes plausible deniability. How-to coming soon.
