Tonight is the night we have all been waitng for. The end of the primary season and the beginning of the general election. As we watch the results come in tonight, we should see Barack win the two final contests, and come within a handful of the required delegates to win the nomination. Early tomorrow (if not tonight) he will reach the number, and it will be time to unite the party. I highly encourage everyone to reach to to the Clinton supporters. Go on her website, and say positive things about her and her campaign. Tell her supporters that it would be a shame if a Republican held the White House and we all had to face four more years of the failed Bush policies after all of the hard work Senator Clinton has done. Remind them that on the issues, there is very little difference between Senator Clinton and Senator Obama. Remind them that Senator McCain opposes any form of universal health care, wants us to remain in Iraq for up to another hundred years. Remind them that John McCain has no way of dealing wiht the housing crisis, other then bailing out the banks that caused the problem in the first place. As tough and hard fought as this primary has been, there are reason why we have all chosen to support Democrats, and it isn't because we want four more years of the status quo.

A Decision to have Clinton as VP: WRONG! |

Any decision by Sen. Obama to have Sen. Clinton be his running-mate will most certainly backfire!
I, for one, will no, can not, support such an outrageous 'old time politics' move. Mrs. Clinton has revealed herself to be of less-than-desireable character: she has done just about everything possible, yes, including thoughts of Sen. Obama's death, to gain her political goals.
Although i have supported Sen. Obama throughout his compaign, vocally and financially, i would view any "Clinton for VP" decision to be tantamount to the refutation of logic and the embracing of 'politics as usual'.
Yes, I would vote for Sen. McCain if only not to have Mrs Clinton waiting in the wings for some untoward and tragic event!!!!

As much as I understand your frustration with some of the things that have happened over this long campaign, would really abandon what you believe in adn what we have all been fighting for because of the VP candidate? I personally don;t think Hillary is the best choice becuase UI don;t think she puts any new states on the table. But I truly believe this type of talk is only hurting the party and the Obama campaign at this point. The more Clinton supporters see comments like this, the more they get angry, and the more likely they wuill not vote, or even worse, vote for four more years of the filaed Bush policies. It is time to unite, not time ti divide. Leave the divisive politices to the Republicans!!!

I agree with Jim about the value of conveying a positive tone toward the Clinton supporters, as Obama himself is clearly trying to do. There was nothing said here indicating that Clinton should be named as a VP choice. I have also said all along that the so-called "dream ticket" of Obama-Clinton would be more of a nightmare, but I frankly believe that Obama is not considering it.
Short of having Clinton on the ticket, however, I would encourage Obama supporters to be tactful with our Clinton-supporting friends.

Barack Obama is great orator, and his speech last night was excellent. He was so gracious towards Hillary (her speech was very pathetic, she is unable to express gratitude towards her opponent). Viva Obama.
