Time to be sensible and use the assets of Americans goodwill toward one another and the vast reach of religious organizations nationwide. Create church run old age homes and healthcare cooperatives thoughout the fifty states. Funding for doctors, technicians, nurses, equipment and facility buildings, along with a self insurance guaranteed by the government. 60 to 70 million people would be enabled to provide healthcare a a cost much cheaper considering volunteers doing much of the work. Letting them cover people in the community with a catastrophic outside insurer for high end care. Funding nursing and elderly care programs in our nations high schools will also address those shortages. We graduate a 2-1 ratio of specialists to GPs the opposite of the rest of the industrialized world. More testing gets better fees for doctors, opposed to outcome of malady payments instead (less testing more profit). Paying for med school for GPs that sign a ten year contract with cooperatives could address area need and lockdown costs. Same hold true for any specialty shortage or nursing specializations. Getting the insurance companies and lawyers off doctors backs should be done by having facilities and doctors self insure with medical boards to set rates and penalties with a government guarantee. Get rid of tort rewards forever by paying the average settlement for inept care and only medical costs and lost income without pain and suffering when doctors did all they could possibly do. A joint medical board, patient advocate team could arbitrate the awards. Pre-existing conditions and long term care should be paid under a government V.A.T. tax on medical devices and services. Letting municipal and parochial team up to get hospital and primary care to me is a winning way of providing healthcare. Funding abortions from these clinics is not something that should be allowed. Contraceptives on the other hand is a bullet the religious community should have to bite in order to provide healthcare to the many. The GOP would be forced to vote yes to fund these clinics and municipal hospitals can take up much of the slack giving most of America some form of healthcare.
