But Bush is such a divider. Plus, his party stole the election. That would turn off at least half of the country right there, to answering his call. I don't know how in depth Bush's call to service was.
I know he acted like he was serious in solving a lot of problems with his Faith-based Initiatives, but if you read about the inside workings of that part of the administration, it's pretty well known that the administration just used those well-intentioned pastors and supports and left them out to dry.
Why am I even comparing Bush to Obama?

Moral authority and ethical character are the essential elements in credibility for leadership to attract the trust of a nation. Many politicians lack these two qualities. Barack certainly carries these qualities, not just according to those who support him but even those who say are going to vote for others. They might still change their mind.

People are coming to see Oprah, just like a train wreck, you stop, look, and keep going, doesn’t mean they will vote for obama? The saddest part of this is that Oprah is using her TV viewers that supported her show because she has praised herself as being opposed race bias and especially gender discrimination, NOW LOOK AT HER, completely the opposite. We are witnessing the true Oprah Winphrey. I can tell you as a faithful oprah viewer, I will no longer be interested in anything that is connected to oprah... She just put women back 50 years and black women back 100 years! PLEASE Wise up IOWA /NH ladies! This is about the safety and security for ALL our children, their education and most importantly their health care. Shame on you Oprah for selling out your supporters...We adored who we thought you were…

To barak supporters, this is a real question or questions as I search for my canidate. What has Barak done other than make good soundbites? What bill has he passed? What leadership role has he taken? Who or what group of people has he managed? What has he ever done? Why would you put your trust and vote into his hands during this difficult time in our country? What solutions does he have for immigration, economy and war ? My questions are asked honestly, I hope I get honest answers by his supporters.

the Call to Service is huge. it will go far with my parents (conservative) and elders, the languish of my generation (which has such potential within). The call is fantastic, timely, and specific. but
what is up with the crowd!? they look dead. speech should have been given to those beyond their college years, who know the real world realities for finding meaning in their lives. Maybe Friedman is right, they are just quiet Gen-Q. i only hope the apps to these Service programs soar once the nation's young people get back to their internet this evening

I was there and you must realize that anything at 11:45 in the AM for college students is still early. Also, at times they were a fairly lively crowd. The clip here doesn't really show any of that though.
Overall, I thought it was a good speach and while I was already on the Barack bandwagon...it was good to see and hear him in person.

In the spirit of JFK, who started the Peace Corps, I joined and served 27 months overseas. An incredible, life-changing and learning experience. I am going to encourage my son to head in this direction as well.
It is our obligation to help our fellow human being.
As someone so beautifully once said. "If you have never gone truly out of your way to help another person then you should be ashamed to die."
Service of country is the most honorable thing you can do for yourself and your homeland.
I applaud Sen. Obama for encouraging people to engange in national service.

NPR's distorted summary of BO's position |
Report to Admin
By
Peter from Switzerland
Dec 5th 2007 at 9:43 pm EST
This comes from NPR in the aftermath of the Democrat's recent debate at NPR. (Audio only:
Link
)
"Debate Check: Behind Democrats' Responses" (
Link
)
In the summery of Barack Obama's statement about Chinese toys NPR writes:
(quote)
Another key issue in the debate was over China's export of unsafe goods.
Sen. Obama had the strongest proposal, arguing that the U.S. should ban all imports of toys from China. Others said they would never buy Chinese-made goods for their own children or grandchildren. (end of quote)
NPR then continues to claim these facts (not exclusively targeted at BO):
(quote)
So far, in 2007, far fewer than 1/100th of 1 percent of China's toys exports to the U.S. have been recalled. A majority of the recalled toys had U.S.-made design problems, not Chinese-made manufacturing problems. The few children who are known to have been made sick swallowed magnets that separated from the toy (clothes for a doll in one instance). After press reports blaming China circulated for weeks, Mattel finally apologized to its Chinese contractors and acknowledged that Chinese factories were not at fault in this particular recall.
In short, it's hard to see exactly why this issue has risen to the level of such intense presidential-candidate scrutiny. China does make about 80 percent of U.S. toys.
A total ban on Chinese-made toy exports would probably mean severe shortages of toys in the U.S. for some time, as capacity is built elsewhere. In times of severe shortage, markets generally become so distorted that black markets appear and safety standards disappear. Banning Chinese-made toys would almost certainly lead to a huge rise in unsafe toys. (end of quote)
I resent this presentation very much for nowhere have I heard Obama say anything in such an absolute tone like in the above summary.
I have re-listened to that part of the debate, starting at 34:10 and ending at the end of the first hour of the debate.
Obama starts speaking his mind at 36:20 about differences in leverage. He continues at 42:45 about how to level the playing field. At 43:25 he says:
(quote)
I would say: toys cannot come in. Food: we will have our own safety inspectors on the ground. Japan does that right now. ... Unless you meet our inspection standards you cannot ship into. (end of quote)
How do we set the record straight?

Hi, I posted this somewhere else, too, but this is how I feel about it.
I'm concerned about the framing of China policy. While Barack has remained the most level-headed, I'm concerned that voters are going to be egged on to favor whoever is the most aggressive towards China.
As NPR people said, less than .01% of the recalls of toys were from China, and 80% of all the toys are from China. Furthermore, the vast majority of problems has been design errors by American companies, not Chinese manufacturers. I don't know if Obama really meant that we need to halt the imports of all toy's from China, but I hope not.
I am very alarmed by things that Clinton and Biden said about confronting China about human rights. The fact is that the Chinese people are distrustful of American intentions because America supports many dictators, has Guantanamo, and invaded Iraq. The fact is that while China is still a one-party system, that party is not unified enough to truly be an "authoritarian government" and it is not even close to being a dictatorship.
This is not to say that there should not be reforms. There are many problems - growing income inequality, environmental degredation, underdeveloped judicial system, representation, tax system, health care costs, education costs. The truth is that many Chinese leaders would love for the US to work cooperatively with them to solve environmental problems, establish health standards, improve working conditions, and even make democratic reforms. However, the leadership in China is fluid and if the US gets confrontational, the hardliners will gain credibility and power in China. The next president's attitude towards China is extremely important. Yes, there are problems with China's policy towards Tibet and towards Taiwan, but there are problems with US policy, too. Biden says that being confrontational with Iran causes distrust with the Iranian people. Well, then why would it work with China?
The American public is very uninformed about the true nature of modern China. Actually, Mike Gravel always sounds very outlandish, but he's right about China. They are not a military threat, and they are not even really an economic threat. Obama has a balanced view, but it sounds like he needs to do some more homework. He has the best foreign policy advisors, though.

I think the US and China can work cooperatively, but the public needs to be informed. I am hoping Barack Obama will help inform the public about the real issues with China. The truth is that after many years of isolation and distrust of other nations, Chinese leaders and the people have finally embraced bipartisan agreements and is embracing international standards. They feel that this policy has largely paid off in the past 20 years. The US should be encouraging that sentiment, and leading by example, by investing in clean energy, higher emissions standards, better health care system in America, and making democracy strong in America. Not by being confrontational and declaring China a human rights violator, etc.
The Chinese people are very disappointed in America's decision to invade Iraq. Also, the US itself has many civil rights issues. Something like 50% of all AA males are in prison. What moral high ground does the US have to declare China a human rights abuser? In contrast, they were supportive of the first Gulf War because in that case, Saddam invaded Kuwait.
Right now, the sentiment in China is that the Chinese people are playing catchup with the US. If the US is not motivated to fix its own human rights problems and environmental problems and financial problems, it is very hard to convince China that they need to do it. That is something Barack has spoken about as well.

Obama would agree with the above blogs. He has said we don't have a leg to stand on where human rights are concerned when we don't observe them ourselves.
When the Abu Grabbe situation came out I felt physically and spiritually ill for weeks. Some of our best military did too. It should NEVER have happened. Only could it have happened under the auspices of the current administration. [I hope.] It was as Pogo said, [cartoon character years ago] "We met the enemy; and he was us!"

It's funny, it's easier for me to go canvassing than it is to talk to all of my friends about it... I feel less pushy somehow at someone's door in New Hampshire than I do talking politics to familiar people. I started with canvassing, and then graduated to phone banking, and now I'm getting a little more ballsy with my friends. We all have our learning curves...
Also, I've been pleasantly surprised by the people I've talked to while phone banking. Even people who can't give any time to volunteer themselves often thank you profusely for everything you're doing for the campaign. It startled me the first time it happened... I had called a stranger, and they spoke to me so genuinely and thankfully!
Our service starts here! Fired up!

I would like to tell a positive story to get our minds off the relentless trolling on our wonderful blog. I have been trying to involve a young AA man in the Obama campaign. He has been livng with us for the past six years ( a former student, he was pretty much homeless, so he is part of our family now) He has been reluctant, but he went to the Countdown to Change in Boston last week, somehow got picked to stand with a group behind Barack on stage, got to meet him and shake his hand. He called me right after and thanked me for giving him this "transformational experience." He signed up to canvass the AA communities in Boston, and has already convinced 3 of his friends to vote for Obama. He says, "He is legit (slang) He HAS to win." He is so impressed with him, his "crew," his whole organizaton. He has never voted before and now he wants to become a community organizer, "because Barack was." I am very happy and it is just another testament to the power of Barack Obama to inspire and lead!!

Hi Cilla,
I think many people are just starting to pay attention to the presidential campaign, as Barack and Michelle said.
I know here in Florida a lot of AA people in the commnunity I live in are very excited about Barack Obama.
The support is there -- to be honest, I think folks are so busy working, and tending to their day to day lives -- that the election is not a priority at the momnent.
As we get closer to the primaries you will see more and more enthusiasm.
The support is there Cilla -- maybe just not as visible as you may expect. As you know I am AA and I know there are thousands more that support Barack Obama too.

Barack may be one of the most inspiring speakers I have ever heard. I am certain as the nominee he would give a tremendous address. And since IMHO, as expected, justice was served about as well today in the FL court as it was in the US Supreme Court of 2000, I hope to hear him someday say he's making good on his belief that all our voices should be heard.

If you want to be counted, please post a comment below.

Nancy:
Let me be first on your list. I don't pay attention to these idiots who come and blog negative stuff just to get Sen. Obama's supporters upset. We should follow Barack's example and he was praised for it on the news this evening, and many reporters are taking note that Barack is staying on "message" going forward and ignoring Clinton's rediculous attacks and they feel it is going to backfire on her big time. New poll out this evening ABC/Washington Post poll shows Barack now within 6 points of Clinton in New Hampshire, and gaining steam on her nationally in 4 of the 7 polls. The polls that show Clinton with a big lead are the ones owned by the company that her chief strategist Mark Penn is CEO of, so you can take those with a grain of salt. Even Rasmussen repots shows Clinton losing ground daily to Barack. So onward and upward. Don't let deliberate attempts by "trolls" interfere with our excitement and showing how proud we are of Sen. Obama.
By the way, in Harlem a friend of my told me today that the place is plastered with Obama signs even at Harlem Hospital! No Clinton signs. People are putting them up all over the place! The excitement in Harlem in the large black community about Barack who people say doesn't have the black vote is amazing! More good news north of NYC. Up here the excitement about him is growing and growing.

Does responding with the Bloggers Against Intentional Discouragment link count?
Link
I have 3 suggestions:
1) If you see an offensive or disrespectful comment, ignore it AND report it to the admin.
This is a free and open blog, but their harassment and offensive comments will not be tolerated and should be reported.
2) Respond with the Bloggers Against Intentional Discouragment
Link
ONLY and move on (after reporting it to the admin).
3) You have committed to ignore the troll, BUT if you find yourself itching to respond, then you must pay the price for feeding the troll! Donate atleast $5 to the Bloggers Against Intentional Discouragment
Link
. It would also be great if you could come back and report your donation to the blog, which would demonstrate solidarity and motivation. If you can't afford it, don't feed the troll. OR, commit to making phone calls or canvassing instead. But let us know!
These 3 tactics should discourage THEM from coming to the Barack Obama website to harass us and disrespect us.
Their malicious efforts will only motivate us to stick together and donate to our grassroots campaign.
The PEOPLE will deliver Barack Obama to the White House!

1. Can you park this in a blog maybe too so we can see the status in one place?

3. Maybe it would be helpful is to have a list out there of the screen name and their URL (NOTE I inserted a dash so it should not link in this comment) of found ones (some you cannot LINK to but they still have a URL associated on the site)
Here are some I identified-
The one in question spurned a clone with a dual personality. The original is

And then "hooch" changed their name to:

No change for free and open exchange.. only the rate would be slowed down for someone posting from the same 'place'.
It would reduce the rate of reactionary posts.
client-side session variable to track each when-blog-last-visited + server-side code to present error message and/or disable a textarea control based on IP address not feasable?

I would agree that if somebody was eager enough to get around some short IP check code, they could do it.
If they circumvented that code, it would show intentionality, which could mean someone who is intent on doing something malicious, or someone who is intent on learning how things work..
Either way, it would reduce access to folks who are just responding, point blank, or going on a tear of some sort..

Ian, a lot of us get on for an hour or two and post a lot, all over these blogs, responding to multiple threads. That would go further to stop the real bloggers than it would to stop the trolls. Plus, if I can figure out how to use a proxy, the trolls can too.
I think ignoring them would be more useful.

I think they're taking the approach that banning abusive IPs might be a slippery slope (what's considered abusive and who decides?) As a community we can decide who the abusers are, and it looks like we're starting to handle it pretty well by ignoring the trolls and making it a call to donate.
Reminder that you can look at anyone's profile by clicking on their name and see if maybe they have rude things listed there (Like D does). Maybe we could beef up our own pages to show how serious we really are about this campaign, with photos of us volunteering. I love how positive this campaign is! Keep it up!

It's a speech like this, with words of hope and inspiration and direction for all of us, that make me proud to be part of this movement to help Barack become our next president.
So many people that run for this office run on and on about what THEY are going to do when elected - a laundry list of promises that are difficult, if not impossible, to keep.
Barack tells us something different - that WE have the power to change America and change the world, and that we must seize that power and use it to do good, to show other nations that we are, indeed, a beacon of light and opportunity, an example to be followed, not a powerful bully to be scared of.
Like John F. Kennedy, Barack is giving us a chance to not just vote and move on to our next chore, but to seize this moment of history and make it our own, to actually serve our fellow man. I am my brother's keeper. I am my sister's keeper.
No other candidate even comes close to talking like this, stirring the heart and soul in a way few leaders ever do.
Nearly 150 years ago, a modest and humble man came from Illinois and saved our Union. Just like Lincoln did, Barack Obama can heal our nation, and set an example that those of future generations will grow to emulate.
FIRED UP!! READY TO SERVE!! Are you?

And ya know, I've always thought that large numbers of Barack's supporters aren't being picked up in these polls. Especially the "likely voter" polls.
To become a "likely voter," you have to vote regularly. We all know that huge numbers of Barack's supporters are people who have either never voted before, or haven't in a long time.
Plus, any polls of "Democrats" are leaving out all the Indys and Republicans who support Barack.
I think this is even better than it looks. Which would explain why Hillary's going crazy right now.

I just finished reading every word of Senator Obama's Call to Service Speech and it was exceptional. I spent all of my working life in public or not for profit service. As a retiree I donate 30% of my time to volunteer public service. He absolutely amazed me in that he has fully analized and targeted every possible area of public service and capacity building for not-for-profits. Then I thought, of course, he was a community organizer and like all of us working on the ground he knows the REAL work to be done. Thank the Dear Lord! The fact that he understands that small not for profits need the same support as small businesses is totally astonishing. He has taken the best of FDR's & JFK's people and capacity building ideas and added incredible ones of his own. As this old woman has said many times on this blog--this man is even more than JFK. And he has the temperament of FDR! Many historians believe that FDR's temperament and capacity to listen and wait made it possible for him to lead so effectively. Keep HOPE shining.

I guess I don't see the comparison; she not only gave money in the same manner, she hooked people up to Norman Hsu; and there is SOME reason that some very ethical Iowa politicians (Harkin and our newest Congressman Loebsack were involved, and I would vouch for either at this point; Vilsack I would have until he made that comment to me; I don't know Culver all that well but as far as I know he's a good guy) were accepting moneys from him. I would surely hope that they would know not to trust...well....anyway, I don't see it as being the same at all; trying to get Democrats elected is the job of Democrats, isn't it? And he gave to Clinton's endorsers as well? Barack didn't try to hide his, nor did he accuse her of anything illegal. I have until this point felt as tho Mr Hsu was simply an opportunist and just wanted to grease the right palms and Senator Clinton got caught up in it. This clearly adds a new wrinkle.

The MSM script is playing itself out on schedule.
Now we need to see the writers strike be settled and Barack to start appearing on all the easy but popular talk programs. Just think, night after night of jokes about Hillary sinking (on Leno/Letterman/SNL, etc.)
The final blow would be Al Gore (finally realizing the victory ahead) supporting Obama just after the Oprah effect is playing through the MSM.

Hillary Clinton and the Ghosts of 2006
by Paul Rogat Loeb &a mp;n bsp;
excerpted:
... Barack Obama's Hope Fund PAC, Hillary claims, deliberately contributed to candidates in key early primary states that year, with the aim of securing their later support. Never mind that the Hope Fund gave to a broad spectrum of candidates--including, oddly, Hillary herself. If she really wants Democratic voters to judge their potential nominees on their 2006 choices, she may not like the judgments they make.
2006 was a Democratic opportunity, and grassroots supporters dug deep and then deeper to finance an ever-expanding array of competitive races. Hillary, meanwhile, made a conscious decision to raise $52 million for a Senate campaign that she could have won in her pajamas, spent $40.8 million (to beat a token opponent who spent less than $6 million), and transferred the rest to her presidential campaign.
You could say she was just playing the game, but John Edwards and Barack Obama, in comparison, campaigned throughout the country to support worthy Democratic candidates, while doing negligible fundraising for their own pending campaigns. The Edwards campaign ended that season still in debt from 2004. Obama emerged with less than a million in the bank. Their top priorities really did seem to be helping other Democrats win a critical election, instead of subordinating all other goals to their own personal futures.
.......
Imagine if Hillary had transferred $20 million into the dozen Congressional campaigns that Democrats lost by margins as close as a few hundred votes. A few extra ads or mailings might well have tipped the balance in more of these races. ... Hillary made different decisions. Much as may have been true with her support of a recent Iran vote so reckless that Senator James Webb called it "Dick Cheney's pipe dream," her priority was election-year positioning.
If we compare Hillary's actions to those of the ordinary citizens whose time and money made a critical difference, she comes up short. She also comes up short compared to her main Democratic rivals. While the money she spent may have gained her a few extra points of electoral margin, it did nothing to shift the power from an administration she said she opposed. If we're going to use 2006 as a measure of Presidential character, we might remember the choices Hillary could have made--and the priorities she chose instead.

Dec 6th 2007 at 7:04 am EST
First of all, Nancy, I think you probably already know I simply don't respond, so I'm pretty much already a part of your list.
Here's my take, and I've said it in the past few blogs for whatever good it seems to have done.
Trolls don't disrupt blogs. RESPONDING to trolls disrupts blogs. As far as I'm concerned, responding in any way only adds to the disruption. In my mind, when anyone does that, they are an 'accessory' to the crime' so to speak.
I liken these 'trolls' to flashers. I had someone 'expose themselves' to me once. It startled me for a split second, and then I stopped..looked at the goods.. and laughed hysterically. Long and hard. I mean, come on! You think you're going to upset me with THAT????? The analogy is striking, don't you think? By the way, still laughing, I walked over to a cop car parked nearby and let them know there was a jerk in the bushes over yonder.
So here's a plan. Whenever a Wayne/D/whatever they call themselves this week shows up, think of this picture...
Link
Then hit the 'report to administration' button above their post...AND MOVE ON.
Remember, when you respond, they've won their little game. They've successfully pushed your buttons. You've given them legitimacy, and in doing so have become just as guilty of disruption as they are.

I hope you post this on a few threads so people can get a good laugh and realize they must not be taken in and respond.
I laughed my heart out with your little demonstration. Sure way to cure an attention seeker. Love it.

MY RESPONSE:
""Molly is keeping the precinct walking tally, noting
on a scale of 1-5 whether a listee is likely to vote
for Obama. The catch of the day is Easter, a fetching
African-American girl who has just turned 18. Virginia
and I find Easter sitting on the back steps of her
apartment building. Easter says that she's registered
to vote but hasn't made up her mind about any
candidate. Virginia launches into Obama's position on
crack versus powder cocaine. Above our heads, a
Hispanic gentleman reclines on his balcony sofa like a
model in a Manet painting and stares down at us.
Laughing, Easter interrupts Virginia with an admission
that she's been planning to vote for Hillary "because
Bill is cool." Appalled, I now offer my two cents.
Between us, Virginia and I turn Easter for Obama. At
this point, Mike finds us and takes Easter's picture
for the Tribune.""
Virginia is smart she understands that BILL ISN"T
COOL. He wouldn't reduce crack cocaine and that has
not only hurt those who use it but those who have to
pay taxes to keep them in jail at a rate of close too
100k a year.
SEE LINK FROM YESTERDAYS BLOG WHICH POINTS OUT HOW
HILLARY CLINTON WOULD KEEP THESE PRISONERS IN JAIL
EVEN THOUGH THE OTHER CANDIDATES CHOSE TO LET THEM OUT
DUE TO SILLY LONG JAIL TERMS FOR USING CRACK WHICH
BILL CLINTON WOULD NEVER REDUCE!
Link
NOTE: Make sure you see the above link with all my references to the Bill Clinton administration listed in the responses which are easily accerssable because no one could refute them. :)

""When asked about her own policy, Clinton said she agreed with the feds' recommendation for equalizing the sentences, but she opposed making the sentencing changes retroactive.
"I have problems with retroactivity," she said. "It's something a lot of communities will be concerned about as well." Obama, Edwards, Richarson, Dodd, Kucinich said they were in favor of the sentencing change being applied to those already serving time.
Now before we get to the reality of how such a sentencing change would play out, let's parse what Clinton said: Although she agrees that disproportionate punishments for crack versus cocaine are wrong for the future, she doesn't feel that past disproportionate punishments are wrong.""

The Call to Service speech was excellent. Barack Obama has consistently talked about all of us taking responsibility for what happens in this country. And getting him elected is the first step.

Good morning. This is pnd. I am a female. These letters are the initials of a nickname I had as a child. They stand for penny-nickle-dime. My first name is Penny.
I have read the responses to your request and have been a bit disappointed with some of them. People are having a hard time letting this go...looking for exceptions to the committment. I'll keep my word even though I already see it isn't going to do what we hoped. But it will help a lot so that's a good thing anyway.
I can't afford to do the full $100 match. I do donate regulary, mostly $10, $20 and $25 at a time. I will pledge $25 (that's a good one for me :) ). I have never donated through any other venue than the direct link on the homepage. If you prefer I go through another link let me know. Thanks for the effort. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the best possible outcome.

Thank you so much for your pledge. No apologies about the amount! Sometimes donations of smaller amounts are actually bigger percentages of available money. It's all relative.
That will make $425 in pledges if we get 100 people.

Tonight is my caucus training. I can not wait to go.
My caucus is full of Obama supporters. SOOOOO I have done my job.
I keep following up with them and the support is unwavering.
The time is now. The movement is strong and the hopes are high.
You know when it is getting better on our side when the trolls keep coming and trying to take over the site.
It is ok. We do not go over there and put negative blogs, not only because we are not allowed the freedom of speech, but because we have the faith in our candidate. We do not have to come to thier site and try to steal people away.
The trolls spend thier days here thinking somehow someone will read them and think that "wow those Hillary people are really great, I am gonna change my mind". That is ignorance.
We are all here and found our way here because of our overwhelming need for change. We have hope to save the world, not just our own country.
We have a way to get there, and that is Barack Obama.
I know personally that part of the way we got to 15,000 donors is because of these "trolls" and everyone donating in their honor. So, I would like to thank them again for thier hard work and effort that has been just as helpful as a lot of the work I have done in Iowa. Every dollar counts. Every snide remark by them makes us look better.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are true Obama backers!
The group of people on here that are here to support are a wonderful group of people. I personally was injured and people rallied to give me encouragement. I know of others that have shared thier dissappointment and stuggles here too. I have seen the support and help that others have given and it is awesome.
There is no other blog in the whole WWW that has offered so much support to thier candidate AS WELL as the supporters.
How can we be wrong?
WE ARE OBAMA!

Thank you for those words Laura. Trolls ARE ignorant and that's why they won't last here. We've had lots and lots of them come and go, and by the time they leave they ONLY make us Obama's supporters stronger and more determined than ever.
That's what HOPE does to people, when we're filled with it we can get thru anything, no matter how hard or annoying things may be.
That's why after a long day of canvassing, I come back here to the blog.
After phone calling, I come back here.
After reading discouraging and bias news about Obama, I come back here.
After watching bad coverage on him on TV, I come back here.
After being frustrated on listening & reading how far people would go to simply WIN without thinking about others, I come back here.
It's the only place that gives me fuel to keep doing what I'm doing. I believed-in US, no matter how low one of us gets, there's always another ready to pick us up. Like you just did for me - with your words.
THANK YOU!

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was
absolutely correct in calling candidate Clinton out on
that vote and challenging her lame excuse that she had
not read the full intelligence report before her Iraq
war vote. "Members of Congress," Obama cautioned,
"must carefully read the intelligence before giving
the president any justification to use military
force."
Link
Take Hillary Clinton, who said that "Iran is seeking
nuclear weapons, and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard
is in the forefront of that" by way of defending her
vote for a resolution that, like the one she voted for
before the Iraq war, blindly supports rather than
seriously questions the president's case for war.

No one is born a Christian. You have to believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died on the Cross for your sins, and He was raised by His Father on the 3rd Day. If you don't believe that, you aren't a Christian.

No boddy born Chritian, it is a personal decision that you take when you can stand on your own.
They ask bush in the 2000 0r 2004 campaing which philosoph that he loves the must. he said Jesus Christ and when ask him why? he respond because he save his live from being a drug user, liar, trash woman an drunk all the time. ( eventhough he still lie today).
Therefore, there is no such think as being born Christian but the most important he is being born again, which Barack is.
Barack always explain how he end up being Christian by starting servind the community of south side of Chicago more than 20 years ago. As result, he got the title of his second book from his pastor , The Audacity of Hope, when he first enter the church.
Before then, he was like anyboddy else, chasing women and a bit arrogant like I was.

Bandung said he had heard the rumor that Obama went to a radical Islamic school. He showed a picture of Obama with the Scout group.
"The girls wore miniskirts. There's no way miniskirts would be allowed at a madrassa," he said. Another photo of teachers at the school shows both males and females wearing Western-style clothing. The women are also wearing miniskirts.

I am so delighted to hear Obama's call to service. I once took a course on authentic leadership that was based on Sun Tzu's art of war: which, by the way, professes that war is ALWAYS a loss and should be avoided at all cost. In that course we learned that an authentic leader provides the space for those who know what needs to be done to accomplish it. Otherwise you just have someone imposing their own views on the situation. Obama is accomplishing this by calling us to serve...thank you!

Unfortunately, Mrs. Clinton does not offer anything such as this. She has no charisma and has no conception of leadership. She is the EPITOME of a "stand by your man" though she tries to be opposite of that. She does not understand diplomacy. As far as I can tell, she gets people excited because she is a former first lady and people are star struck for the first she could offer. She has never knocked on one door nor been outside of the Secret Service detail. Again she offers nothing to the country except divisiveness, polarization, and tired re-hash of disgust from a former time. Why she doesn't spare the country, the world, and the history books by getting out of the primary contest immediately is beyond me. She cannot win the Presidency, and she KNOWS it!

Is it possible to post a video of the entire speech under the Speeches link on barackobama.com? I read the transcript and found it incredibly inspiring and moving. I just hope the students at Cornell College appreciated hearing a potentially historic speech from our future President. In my view it rivaled some of the Kennedy speeches written by Ted Sorenson.

My daughter was in Americorp for a year. They ran out of money to keep Citycorp going in Texas-mostly a hispanic city. She had no crayons or paper or other teacher project needs for their after school program. That was under the Bush administration. To be of service we have to support our young people with what they need to do a good job. Senator Obama is right. From my experience as mom of 11, I have found not all my children knew what they wanted to do even after college or high school and time served in programs like Peace Corp or church sponsored programs gave them feelings of compassion and self love. Those who have served have gone on to raise families or work in jobs that require service.

"Ask not what your country can do for youI"; "I have spoken of a thousand points of light, of all the community organizations that are spread like stars throughout the Nation, doing good."; "I will ask for your service and your active citizenship when I am President of the United States."
These are all great statements but the fact they are repeated so often substantiates the notion that they are falling on deaf ears. That the leadership which asks for our support in getting elected with such eloquence is impotent to actually organize this country into a cohesive, unified entity that serves its greater good. But why? Are we so divided by ideology, economics, religion and a myriad of other walls that there is not one or two basic tenets which can overcome all other boundaries and form the basis for a vision for America this country once held in high esteem? I for one an uninspired by the rhetoric of every Presidential candidate to date. I have heard all this in my mere 50 years. As of late I am beginning to believe I may need to run for some local office out of frustration and outrage, the manner in which people handle power. I will continue to research all candidates, Democrat and Republican alike. This will be the best investigation I will have ever done in deciding this country's future.

I haven't really done much to support the campaign to this point, as funds are tight and work is long. And I haven't really seen Barack in action too much lately either, but watching that short clip reaffirms my loyalty to this man. He is articulate, charismatic, and very well versed. His ideas for the future of America are innovative. And his campaign thus far has brought a new level of class to the political process.
