The Road to Change [Day 1]: Waterloo Event

In Waterloo, Iowa on Wednesday, August 15, Barack Obama addressed the state AFL-CIO convention at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center. Barack reminded the crowd that he has been standing up for working people since he moved to Chicago, where he worked as a community organizer helping people who had lost their jobs due to the closing of a steel plant. He also vowed that when he is president, he would give labor a promient seat at the debate table when writing legislation that is important to them.

The reason that we are seeing the kind of economy that we are seeing is that the powerful have disproportionate say so in Washington, and the voices of ordinary workers have been left out.
