New Research shows Obama beating Clinton in online participation. Read it here:
Link
Highlights:
*Obama’s blog is updated almost three times as frequently as Clinton’s and has generated 73,566 comments over the course of the campaign – 64,186 more than Clinton’s 9,380 comments.
*Obama’s lead in internet participation has grown in recent months as Clinton’s has fallen. Last month, users of Obama’s website posted 20,665 comments to Clinton’s 868. One possible explanation of the gap is the different policies the campaigns utilize on their websites. Obama's campaign posts all comments and allows users to flag inappropriate comments for review. Clinton's campaign makes use of a moderator, not posting comments until they have made it past the campaign's censor.

Hey GM, great job on the Friday Project. I will just urge caution when it comes to talking to outside news folks like the wired news folks. For example, if we are unable to match Ron Paul's $4.2M online haul, I can imagine this journalist writing a story like "Ron Paul Beats Obama in Online Fundraising". It will be a misleading headline, but as we all know, we can't trust these folks to be fair and accurate in their reporting.

Nov 12th 2007 at 3:44 pm EST
The objective of this poll was to assess the question: is Sen. Barack Obama truly a candidate whose appeal crosses party lines? By implication, then, how likely is he to win the White House if he becomes the Democratic Party nominee?
And the answers are a resounding YES, and VERY LIKELY.
First, here is the question I asked:
Which one of these best describes your political/ideological affiliation?
1) Liberal/Liberal Democrat
2) Centrist Democrat
3) Conservative Democrat
4) Moderate Republican
5) Conservative/Conservative Republican
6) Independent
7) Libertarian
8) Green/Other
By the numbers:
--104 of you responded;
--Together, those in the center of the spectrum -- identified as Centrist Democrats, Conservative Democrats and Moderate Republicans – comprised the largest pool of respondents, at 34.6% of those who responded;
--The second-largest number of respondents – 30.7 % -- described themselves as Independents;
--Liberals or Liberal Democrats comprised 27.8 percent of respondents;
--There was one respondent identifying himself as a Conservative Republican, another said he was Libertarian, and five -- or 4.8 % -- identified themselves as “Green/Other, and
--Respondents who said they were independents were slightly more likely to describe themselves as ideologically conservative-turned –Democrat just for Obama than to say they were left-leaning. Other self-described Independents said they were ideologically eclectic, likely to vote on different sides of the aisle depending on the type of issue in question.
Some salient points:
--This is NOT a scientific poll; however, each of you only got to vote only once;
--You are all Obama supporters because you visited his web site to complete this mini-poll;
--The vast majority of those who responded are names that have posted here with some frequency, meaning that a vast majority of these responses most certainly describe definite Obama voters, and
--Trolls are not a factor because it is hard to sabotage a poll in which no answer helps or undermines Obama.
Thoughts?

In the midst of Obama's speech, got a call from Florida Highway Patrol wanting... you guessed it... money. Guess they know a soft touch. Told the young man to call me back after the caucauses and primaries because all my spare cash is going into Obama's campaign.
He said, "So who's winning?"
"Obama." (Like... who else did you EXPECT?!)
Well, the kid got all excited.
"Really???"
"Oh yeah! Go check out his website. And be sure to vote. I'm not gonna tell you who to vote FOR... you just vote your conscience. And don't forget to call back, sweetie!"

All the panelists seem to be arguing that HRC will come at Obama guns blazing next week but honestly I'm not sure how much that will help her. Because here's the thing...If she comes after Barack any stronger than her people already have it will hurt her even more as far as her inevitability argument is concerned. Going after Barack aggressively right now would confirm how afraid her camp is right now of his current momentum and her drop in the polls. I am convinced Barack and his campaign are prepared for this potential more vicious attacks.
The debate on Thursday is going to be a rough one. If he can win that debate or even take her down a few more pegs that will give him the victory this week. I think she is real trouble right now because the media is beginning to be more comfortable criticizing her. And Barack's ascendency so soon before the caucuses means his underdog story will be the new narrative among the MSM.
This is something Barack probably intended all along.
And the scandals with Hillary (plants in the audience etc..) are just getting started...

When I think of America, the first thing that comes to mind is Ellis Island. For me, this symbolizes the concept of our nation more than anything else. Somewhere along the line of every family, a brave soul boarded a boat, a plane or even a raft to make a better life for their family and themselves. More than anyone else, the President should be a reminder of this fantastic concept. No one exemplifies this more than Barack Obama. Illustrating this, has never been more vital in our history than now. America has lost it's calling to "symbolize" the mission statement laid out by our founding fathers in our constitution. The time for symbols is now and that symbol is....Barack Obama.

RealChange08,
Barack is not peaking too soon...Hillary is slipping too early!
What I mean by that is I have thought since the beginning that Barack was going to win this thing. I expected that HRC would begin to lose her media darling halo in mid to late november with scandals coming out. But I thought she would be hit the hardest in the end of November or beginning of December. I didn't expect what happened in the Philly debate. That has changed the tide even more than I thought it would.
She cannot afford to have this happen right now.
And this is where Mark Penn's HUGE manufactured lead in the polls has her in an interesting predicament. The bigger the lead for Hillary the more room it gives Barack in the MSM to rise to the occasion and start beating her. If its a close race the whole way through the comeback isn't as interesting a story.
Beating someone who had such a large lead is the REAL story. That is the story everyone wants. It all goes back to people's fascination in sports. It is always more exciting to watch a team that was behind come back in the end and win it. The surprise is key. The reason I know HRC is going to lose is because she played the inevitability card. What would have been smarter was for her to have played the underdog card and rally women behind her at the last minute. That would have been the time to bring Bill from Harlem to win her some votes and defend her honor as it were. But foolishly went the other way and she will pay the price for it.
