Predictions for '08
1) Obama will be elected president in '08.
2) Obama will swamp the primaries. By the time the primaries start, the contest will be amongst the also-rans for VP or just for influence.
3) Obama will garner significant support from traditionally Republican voters, winning the general election with at least 59 percent of the vote. Contingent prediction: the percentage will be in the mid to high 60s.
4) Obama will run in the general election on public financing alone and will win spending only 1/5 that of the Republican, setting a higher standard for all future presidential candidates. After President Obama finally leaves office in January of 2017, people will assume that a presidential candidate who needs obscene amounts of money to run won't deserve to win.
5) After serving two successful, transformative terms as POTUS, Obama will become Chief Justice of the SCOTUS and serve the remainder of his long life presiding over a court of his own making.
Modest enough predictions if you ask me.

When I prayed that Obama would one day be president... in like 2024 or something, I never would have thought he would be this close in 2008. He always exceeds expectations.
I think you are right on many of your points. Not just being fun here. Seriously.
"2) Obama will swamp the primaries."
This one is a pipe dream, though. I think his primary turnout will be impressive and exceed most people's expectations. I am certain that even if Hillary loses the first 20 states, that she will not bow out, she will stay in the race, having backroom meetings that sound like "okay Jim, so if I can still win the other 30 states, I still have a shot, right ?".
I think Hillary will win one of the first states. ...but then again, we handed Kerry the nom on a silver platter out of nowhere after the Dean folks had it in the bag.
"3) Obama will garner significant support from traditionally Republican voters, winning the general election with at least 59 percent of the vote."
Of this I am already certain. IF... IF he gets the nom, it will be a landslide. To know him is to love him, and as nominee, everyone will learn how human and sincere and reasonable he is and they will gravitate to him largely.
THIS BLOG IS PLENTIFUL WITH NORMALLY REPUBLICAN VOTERS who love patriotism and national unity. Each time I read the community blogs front page of all the newest posts from the whole blog of all groups, I see another new "used to vote republican" member join up and praise Obama.
This doesn't mean Obama is right wing. It means that his unity and common sense and willingness to cross the aisle and find a win-win, is so compelling, that republicans will put up with unions and universal healthcare, and clean environment and all those other liberal altruisms, if it means that the country can come together and be positive under some intelligent leadership.

I really appreciate your thoughtful response.
We shall see, my friend!
You were prepared to wait until 2024? America can barely stand to wait another year.
Obama has forced Hillary to start her campaign waaaay too early. The voters will sicken of her soon enough.

I take that back.
WE'VE forced her to start way to early.
