Here's another dispatch from Joseph here at HQ -- this time from Kenosha
When Richard first heard Barack Obama speak two years ago, he felt like he had stepped into a time machine and transported back to the 1970s, a time Richard remembers, as one filled with hope and endless possibilities.
"I felt we had hope for a change. When I left the rally, I felt enlightened...Barack was a breath of fresh air."
The long-time Kenosa resident is joined by Jeremy in holding hope for a better future. The economics student is a former Republican who grew disillusioned with the divisive politics of the GOP and John McCain. He points to Barack's ability to bridge the gap between Democrats and Republicans as a necessary and crucial step to helping America reach its potential.
"I feel that Barack's absolutely inclusive of all people. He's the leader that wil make decisions that help everyone in this country. Seeing Colin Powell support Obama was something else. He's a former hero of mine and to see him support someone I believe in is amazing."
He believes this campaign is about not only the economy, but also social issues. "Whether it's for LGBT rights or people with disabilities, I know Obama will do great work on that."
Richard, who suffers from a disability, complete's the circle:
"As handicapped people, we're not treated equally. I think Barack will make it better for everyone, for all human beings in this country."
