Barack Obama in Green Bay: Northern Michigan College Dems

One of the most excited groups to make the trip to Green Bay yesterday was the Northern Michigan University College Dems, who left the NMU campus in the Upper Peninsula at 4:00 a.m. to make a six hour drive to Brown County that required a few detours to pick up several members who spent the weekend canvassing for several local candidates up north.

All of the NMU college Dems could barely contain their enthusiasm -- and not just because they had finally made it to the event after a long journey to the Resch Center. All reported an unprecedented spike in energy and interest at school. "There's far more activity this year," Stephen observed.

"Much more than two years ago," Alicia added.

"There's even more than back in 2004!" Zoe appended.

And the college Dems are taking advantage of this climate by talking to their friends, registering their fellow students (they have ambitious goals that they're close to reaching) and getting involved in local campaigns all across the UP and Wisconsin Northwoods.

"We're all failing out of college!" quipped Kendra to the laughter of the rest of her friends. "We just think this so important and there isn't much time left to do something about it."
